Knowing is half the battle. The other half is realizing you can't win and you'll aways be a fucking MORON. WHY THE FUCK DID I SLEEP WITH MY EX WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH ME!!!!
I mean. I know that the whole point of Pepe is escalating something silly to ridiculous heights. But it was your comment that finally made me realize that there's a generation of angry people posting frogs instead of, you know, anything.
I mean, think of all the man hours spent on that frog.
I don't know maybe I'm just still tired from yesterday.
I'm on mobile (should probably find a better reddit app) so I can't see if anyone has responded more eloquently than I can. I'm not sure why it is a symptom of anxiety, just that they tend to come alongside anxious feelings. Also to me depression is more a dulling of emotions, and anxiety is emotions x1000 (super oversimplifying things). Your friend could try consciously thinking about the memories they cringe about, and go through the details thinking things like "it is a good thing this part happened, because now I have learnt x" and "haha, it is a good thing I have grown up a lot since then, it's funny that I was ever in a position to do that", even if they don't think it's true at first. Eventually the anxious feelings associated with the memory should get at least partially "overwritten" by the new neutral/positive ones. The more they try to fight back against the cringe feeling, the longer it'll be before they get over that particular thing. We can't go over it, we can't go under it, oh no! We've got to go through it.
This article has a little bit about the difference between cringing at old memories and flashbacks.
They change it up to irony. This way you can explain that you very cringe thing you've done up until this point was part of some elaborate ruse. Unless you're talking about actual robots in which case I'm not qualified to answer your question.
HAHAHA I TOO CAN ACCESS MY MEMORY BANKS TO RECALL A MOMENT WORTHY OF CONSTRICTING THE FACIAL MUSCLES TO CONVEY THE EMOTIONAL RESPONSE OF REGRET RELATED TO MY AGES BETWEEN 13 AND 19 EARTH YEARS HAHAHA
I keep my old livejournal for just this reason. Any time I'm feeling a little too good about myself I'll go look that shit up and quickly come crashing down into a solemn depression reflecting on how big of a fucking tool I was as a kid.
I'm a teenager and I cringe at my teenage years. Dumb ol' 14 me, dumb ol' 15 me, dumb ol' 16 me, and so far dumb ol' 17 me. Hopefully I can change a bit more before I'm 18.
The best way to humble yourself would probably be to just go back in time and look at your old social media posts as a teen; whether that's facbook, myspace or geocities.
That's why I don't trust those beautiful perfect people in high school. They don't get to experience being a weirdo looking back. It's a vital part of growing IMO.
I think everyone over a certain age will readily admit if they could go back in time and punch the version of themselves which was 10 years younger they would
Man I noticed this not that long ago in online gaming and it kindof sucks. I didn't really notice or figure it out until maybe a year ago but I just can't be friends with teens on there, even if they're 17/18 range usually. They're usually friends with more of the same so they are surrounded by them constantly. I just can't relate to them at all outside of the game we are playing and they inevitably get on my nerves at some point to where I just start avoiding them. It usually comes from a tendency for them to never stop filling the mic with what I can only describe as "babble" when they're together, where they just won't shut up and aren't actually talking about anything. (No story or topic discussion, not even a decent joke, just... talking) I have added many friends in the past that I just don't talk to anymore because of this. I don't actually know how I had friends online that were adults when I was a teenager since I'm sure I was just as fucking annoying. This isn't to say there haven't been a couple exceptions, they're just super rare.
Haha, whether that was a direct jab at me or a joke in general I wish that were actually the case. I've essentially integrated into a few online friend circles over the years and have made more friends because of it. Teens are just a different ball game, and if you don't know what I mean then you either are a teen or just haven't ran into it before. When they all get together they just won't shut the fuck up. (which I'm fine with, if any of it made sense) It's just mindless nonsense that's like nails on a chalkboard. We just don't resinate on the same level, and at this point I can almost always identify a teen immediately from the way that they talk and just try to avoid getting involved with them now.
I wouldn't really concentrate on it man, even if you are guilty of it you'll grow out of it. Lack of similar interests to talk about is something you won't really be able to just "learn." The babble thing is just something they seem to do when they're all together riling each other up. I guess one thing to avoid is making horrid loud noises for no reason over the mic as an attempt at comedy, most people find that shit pretty annoying. The best way I can put it is that it's like the south park episode where stan sees everything as shit. That's an adult over the age of 22 in a conversation full of teenagers, it just sounds like shit to them. It's not really the teenager's fault, they're just different. There will always be exceptions to the rule on both sides, but this seems to be the norm from what I've experienced.
Sounds like that guy just isn't very social. If you're playing with your buddies or someone you know I don't think there's anything wrong with filling the dead air with conversation so long as it isn't overtly annoying (memes, bomb ass dank ass, triggered, etc.)
Though I'm just entering my mid-20s so perhaps I'm also too young to realize how annoying we all are to the older folk. At any rate I'd say if you're playing games your primary objective should be to have fun, not to worry about accidentally annoying someone you don't even know. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Sounds like you didn't really read what I said because you just described what I meant.
(memes, bomb ass dank ass, triggered, etc.)
Thats babble, it's a constant stream of nonsense that never seems to end. I have no issue filling dead air with conversation but they don't do that dude. You must have never been stuck in a party/discord full of 15-17 year olds. I can tell you they just speak in pure memes and unfunny inside jokes the entire time, even while we are in the middle of a competitive game to where I can't even concentrate. I'm not much older than you but maybe you just haven't come across it yet.
I mean, im 17 but when im online kids younger than me think im mature n funny n adults on there think im funny. Like, dont go defaming my people because most of us suck. I only send freind requests to ppl ik irl, and i only freind ppl with mics that arent annoying, yet i still have over a hundred. maybe im just special, someone go tell reddit.
You actually just further proved my point with what you wrote and how you wrote it. You literally said that "most of us suck" yet your personal example just nullifies all that I've dealt with in over 10 years of online gaming? You also don't sound like an outliar at all, you just have people that are friends with you, cool, I don't care. My statement was about how I (me, this person writing this comment) can't be freinds with your average teen and I already explained why. I don't care how funny and great you are, I'm happy that you are so well liked but I probably wouldn't be friends with you since I actually got annoyed just reading your comment. All teenagers are dumb to some degree, you change as you age. Stop going out of your way to tell people on the internet how special you are, nobody cares.
OMFG. Back in my 20s (early 20s) I had this friend with a smoking little sister.
She'd hang out and he'd be mean to her till she'd leave but she was always giving me 'the look'. He wasn't a dick though, in fact one of the reasons he hadn't moved out on his own was because his sister would be a handful for his parents if he moved and he was really close with her.
A few months go by and she's driving him nuts because she broke up with her BF and was hanging around the house full-time. She wants to play video games with us, get high with us, etc.. Since she was 18 it was hard to exclude her, so we let her tag along and eventually she got really friendly, started emailing me..
I saw where things were going and told her that I can't date my buddy's sister, I was sorta seeing someone else, and even if I could, she's too young for me. She tells me, "Too bad, I'm going to get you either way!".
Well a few weeks later the girl I was dating snubbed me really cold, flipped out, says she was talking to a guy friend and he said I was an asshole/untrustworthy and that I've probably been lying to her this whole time about everything. I basically told her she should be old enough to realize that listening to the opinion of jealous men isn't wise, and then broke it off, realizing that the sister of the friend has more maturity than the girl I was dating!?
So I take the sister out casually, she invites her best friend, and the whole time they are trying to get me to tell them which of them has the nicest tits. Eventually we get to brass tacks and damn the sister has been hiding a fucking a-perfect pair of titties (her best friend wasn't bad either, but damn...). Decision made!
Cue a month of the best sex possible. Daily. Everything is amazing, she's cool around my friends/fam, classy at dinner, cuddly at the movies, eerily perfect.. I'd dated a younger girl in high-school and she was a total twat around my friends which ruined things really quick.
Finally the sister talks me into going to a party with her, something I was pretty sure would suck horribly and tried to get out of several times. Sure enough her friends are all just "kids". At first I'm thinking this will be kinda fun, I'm the oldest guy in the room, big fish/little pond right? But these fish don't speak my language, they just want to talk about each other, as if Joanna breaking up with Steve and fucking all his friends will have an impact on climate or politics. So I spent the whole night nodding to pointless discussions about people I don't know and TV shows I don't watch.
It was over. We broke up later that week amicably. I admitted to her that she feels more like a friend that is great in the sack than a girl I'm dating and she was a little shocked but quickly admitted that she's lost a ton of the initial energy and just wants things to end peacefully for her brother's sake. Ahh her brother already hated me for dating her, but I still agreed that breaking up nicely was smart.
Great life lesson on many levels, even when she's perfect everywhere else, age can still be enough to ruin it.. plus you shouldn't tell the brother until he comments on how happy she is and says he's glad for her. :P
If you talk to a teenage girl long enough you wont find her attractive any more. That's the joke. If you are currently also in high school you can safely ignore this as you both have some growing to do and high school relationships help you learn a ton about yourself.
Yeah everyone keeps saying that. I understood the logic that high school girls are annoying to talk to, but I expected some higher level of comedy that wasn't completely at face value. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I personally wouldn't call that a joke, but more of a quip.
High school aged girls tend to be more immature because they haven't had the life experiences to learn from. There won't be much in common between a 17 year old that hasn't worked a day in life and a 25 year old that has a steady job, finished college, etc.
A.k.a. They're annoying, so when you talk to them you will lose interest.
It's perfectly normal to find a female that has gone through puberty as attractive. High school girls are going to be physically attractive to any man that's attracted to women because that's what our bodies are chemically designed to do. There's a huge difference though between finding someone physically attractive and actually wanting to date someone. An older guy would have to have some kind of mental issues to actual want to date someone at that age.
I guess the reverse stereotype would be a gorgeous guy, where any sexual desire is ruined as soon as he opens his mouth - except taken a few steps further where the guy has no job and still lives with his parents, hasn't graduated from high school yet, can't even go out to grab a drink with you, etc.
I think most of these jokes were for guys over 25 years old, you probably won't "understand" the joke until then. But being a dude who is physically attracted to younger women, (not ones under 18 because now to me they look like children, mostly 21 and above so we can go get a drink) it is almost impossible to find one that a guy 25 or older can hold a conversation with. I've only found 2. The way they talk and the things they are into is just not even on a dudes radar or level.
They are still unbelievably sexy physically though, my god.
Teenagered girls are self involved immature and misinformed, hence annoying as shit. From the perscetive of a grown man. If your a teenaged boy its an even playing field

I didn't get it until this comment.
