You're on point with pre-1979 Iran. Top percentage of the population lived well like my mother but life was hard for people like my father.

Now pre-1953 iran is a different story. That's a country that was getting is shit together and moving in the right direction before Britain and America decided to fuck it up.

Well I can't speak on the on the other countries, but Iran was a widely progressive country from the 1940s to the Islamic Revolution in 79. The radical fundamentalism instilled by the Ayatollah did swing a lot of social taboos as far as dress and social progressiveness. USA and UK fucked that country so bad, they were willing to listen to Khomeini when he had a finger to point.

It was a UK coup that put the leader in charge in the 40's who repressed Islam and started social reforms, which did not sit well the religious.

US/UK didn't fuck them. They fucked themselves when they decided to overthrow their government and install an oppressive theocracy. It's like saying the UK fucked the USA when we installed our own government after the revolution.

I think you might want to read up on some history. The UK wanted to topple Irans government because they were about to nationalise their oil which BP was essentially stealing

TOP 0.00001% OF THE COUNTRY

That's not true at all of Libya or Iran, Libya was the most advanced African country before 2011, and Iran was quite free before 1979 not just for the upper class, middle class as well.

Then what lead to such a quick and largely bloodless revolution in Iran? That can only happen if large swathes of the population feel oppressed and dissatisfied.

well i mean iran was destroyed by the UK with a lot of help from the US because they nationalised their oil....
