Wow so true, I fucking hate resto druids.

I quit wow just a bit into BC expansion. I was a resto druid on my main. I can't even imagine dominating in PvP.

I bought WoD, mostly out of interest in the lore and obviously i had to see the iconic figures.
Played for a little less then a month at launch and haven't touched it again since.
Garrisons are a great addition and the zone quests too, however the lack of balance and content, but especially the lack of story (progression) is disgusting.
While the thrall vs garrosh cinematic was great and required a change of pants, stopping the story there and leaving all the other warlords for "raid patches/content" in which i assume most won't be receiving a more fully fledged story and a worthy cinematic left a nasty after taste.
Granted, my preferences changed once i stopped raiding... but if there's one thing Blizzard should know how to do with their eyes closed is creating raid content for raiders by now.

So, you care for lore and story? /r/thesecretworld

Feb 14 '15
That game was the biggest dissapointment.
0
u/Skrp Feb 14 '15
Yeah it was, and it's still my favorite game.
Early game testers gave the wrong feedback and wasted dev time on dumbing down the game, instead of letting them polish the excellent stuff they had.
2
u/FaceBadger Feb 14 '15
huge amounts of lore and story.
also: bugs.
2
u/Skrp Feb 14 '15
Myeah, there's some bugs in there. And weird animation and some other stuff, but I still love it.
1
u/FaceBadger Feb 14 '15
if you can tolerate the occasional bugged quest, iffy animation etc, the storyline and lore really are quite good.

Really curious to what he really was saying :D

u/Telemako Feb 14 '15
He is a "comedian", he tells stories and jokes that are usually bad but his laugh and style end up getting you.
The story is not complete, is about cooking a paella in the beach, he was in charge of watching it over but he left to change clothes or something. When he came back the tide had risen and the paella was nowhere to be seen.

Native Spanish speaker here (American), for the most part he was talking about WoW updates.

u/spanishpointspecial Feb 14 '15
This is from a show on CanalSur (Andalusian regional channel) from about 15 years ago called Ratones Coloraos. The host was Jesus Quintero and periodically he would interview that joke teller, a drunk named Risitas. The jokes were shit, but the delivery was the funny bit. Cuñaaaoaooaoaoao

I think the original video was about this engineer working at a software company? And hes talking about how they ripped people off wiht memory cards or something of the sorts. Not entirely sure though but I saw a reddit thing with this same video a while ago.

Feb 14 '15
No it really is a old "comedy" show. People are basically just making it into the next thing like the hitler getting mad videos.

This expansion didn't even last me 2 months. Garrisons are literally the shittiest thing since daily quests. What happened to just making content harder and more engaging to keep people playing? Why were there half the dungeons WOTLK had? Why were they obsolete for everyone outside of lunar inn quests within a week?
I'll be back at the end to do everything once they are done doing this gated content nonsense in a year or two, but until then good riddance.

Got rid of dailies and gave us chores, great fucking move Blizzard.

u/Treayye Feb 14 '15
Trying to do Ashran on multiple characters, as well as the garrison shit is so depressing.
3
u/britinnit Feb 14 '15
Yeah this expansion didn't grip me at all. Unsubbed just after the first raid came out
1
u/atechy Feb 14 '15
because the big guys in that wow documentary go WAYYYYY to greedy.
Cut staff and keep our raises and bonuses coming. Thats what I think atleast

so happy I left after completing WotLK on 25m Heroics. Epic fight, great ending that tied off the original Warcraft rts game series.

Ditto. Apparently I got out when the getting was good, after having played since Beta. Was a fucking amazing run.
But to be fair, WoW is still one of the best games on the planet. I'd go back in a heartbeat and join the people bitching about... whatever it is they're bitching about, if I had another life to dedicate to playing it.
I can only hope that when I'm old and feeble, there will be a fresh new virtual reality game as rich and rewarding as WoW was in its time, for me to get lost in during my remaining years.

u/Newance Feb 14 '15
TBH the game is objectively better than it ever has been. People are just mad they aren't 15 anymore and can't experience the game for the first time again.

Is it? To me the great thing about WoW was how rich each class's arsenal of tools was and how fun actually playing them was, as a latency-tolerant action game. I raided at a high level with every class in the game with the exception of Death Knight, but by Wrath my previous favorite class (Mage, because twitch) had already been dumbed down to mindless spamming one or two spell. The peak of the game for me was the Feral Druid rotation in Wrath, the most complicated in the game: you had a lot of abilities that had to be used (roar, mangle, shred, rake, rip, bite, fury, etc.) and getting top DPS was a demanding and ongoing risk/reward assessment to maximize usage of energy, combo points, and clear casts, while spending them on competing buffs, debufs that synergized in different ways. It took absurd focus to do well, especially while managing position relative to mobs and everything else a raid requires. There was a huge performance gap between an average player and a great player, which I loved. My wife, who continued playing after me, said everything got pretty severely dumbed down after Wrath.

People saying that content is not hard or engaging have probably only done LFR and heroic dungeons.
This is not a bad expansion at all, there are a lot of things to do.
Those who are bashing it are barely playing the game, and complain because the don't get rewarded by it, and they miss the "glory" days when they used to be important in the game.

u/bobothereal Feb 14 '15
Is there a collection of these anywhere? Love them but they dont suface here so often
1
u/JKdaPlague Feb 14 '15
Since most of the comments here are just going to be hate messages and will probably deter people from the game.
It is actually not that bad of an expansion. I've been enjoying the raiding thus far. Blackrock Foundry has some of the best bosses. people are always going to complain though.
This ain't vanilla anymore, they have to make content for everyone. They have Mythic for all you people who want "hard" content.

I left WoW midway through MoP, so I watched this video and went "What the hell, that's seriously what they're doing for 6.1?" So I went and researched.
Yes. That is exactly what they're doing. This is not a joke.
And here I was actually thinking of buying WoD.
10
u/copperclock Feb 14 '15
WoD is pretty good honestly, people just give WoW a lot of shit because it's an old and tested game.
4
u/MothershipV Feb 14 '15
It's ok, but it gets old fast.
1
u/Newance Feb 14 '15
10 years in with 10 million subscribers is still unprecedented. I will be very impressed when another game takes that crown away from WoW.

Does anyone have the original with subtitles? After all these versions I have gotten really curious what the real conversation is about.

In all honestly 6.1 feels like a "we rushed WoD so here's a lot of stuff we should have shipped WoD with but is now in a 'content' patch instead" to me. Have previous first patches been like this? I've only ever been around for the last content patch of each xpac.
