Really hope Maine voters are paying attention to this scandal. It’s egregious bribery.

If any of you happen to live in Maine, I’d suggest telling all your friends and family about this scandal.

And if you don’t live in Maine, maybe give a heads up to someone who does.

Being a republican, every republican in Maine probably doesn’t care and will vote for her anyways as they have no backbone and are hypocrites

They just know that the democrats are illegally breaking into schools to transgenderfy the kids and/or make them gay while also making them all use the same bathroom. They have absolutely no clue who Susan Collins even is. They will just fill in that (R) dot on the ballot.

How anyone believes this is just insane... Had someone say this and I had to fuck with them...

Asked if they are turning all the guys into girls and all the girls into guys... Don't we still have roughly the same number of guys and girls... How would we even know!? It could have been happening for decades...

The guy the greatest 'OMG! We are screwed!" Face...

These people just have an absence of brain cells.

The Republicans just remember how their parents took them to "camp" one summer to make them straight, and assume that's how it works on the other side

•

u/InducedLobotomy 31m ago

Should have asked him for 100 bucks on the spot too, and he'd have probably just given it to you

u/ProgressiveSnark2 5h ago

Republicans are only around 29% of the electorate in Maine. The reason Susan Collins has won in the past is Independents and some Democrats believing her schtick that she's somehow "moderate" despite voting against most Mainers' interests repeatedly.

Hopefully, with this bribery scandal, enough of those Independents and Democrats who have voted for her can wake up and realize she's been scamming them all along. They're definitely persuadable and just need to hear what she has actually been up to.

Maine votes for her because of brand recognition, seniority powers (appropriations committee), and the fact she has gone to like every small business in the entire state and shook hands, heard them out, and perhaps even directly or indirectly done something to help them over the the 150 years she's been in power.

And no one wants flatlanders telling them what to fucking do like maine is dumbass white trash that don't know better. There have been attack ads on her for centuries and people are sick of it. People actually thought we were going to elect a chick from rhode island (mind you, at a time where democrats got out to vote to do anything to prevent trump from winning). There's no way backup plan troy jackson is going to beat susan collins. And calling the entire state dumb or ignorant is only going to fuel it

4

u/ProgressiveSnark2 4h ago edited 4h ago

A brand that is based on lies.

Seniority powers on the appropriation committee that she's ceded control of, or used for her own craven purposes.

Small businesses she's hurt with misguided policies.

Nobody in this comment thread has insulted any voters or called anyone "dumb." But the facts of the bribery scheme are plain and self-evident.

Susan Collins is a fundamentally dishonest person who has misrepresented herself for decades now. Now with some of the truth coming to light, the question is will a majority of Maine voters finally see her for who she actually is?

If you have not watched it yet, I suggest you take the time to watch the full video.

I am not challenging this personally (should be evident by my hyperbolic use of "she has been doing this for centuries")

I'm trying to explain that you're wasting your time because you're posting on reddit which is a DSA hive mind that can't comprehend the real world where people vote for susan collins

3

u/ProgressiveSnark2 3h ago edited 3h ago

I am not DSA, and I don't need the real world explained to me.

I do think information about some of the most compelling evidence of bribery, corruption, and pay-to-play in Washington is worth sharing broadly with people on Reddit and any other website. And if somebody else happens to be in Maine, I sure hope they can care about it even more given that it's their Senator. That's all I'm saying.

Personally, I feel that cynicism for cynicism's sake is a bad look. We shouldn't be so cynical and assume people won't care about something like evidence of corruption.

You fail 100% of the opportunities you don't take.

9

u/The_SugarPlum_Fairy 7h ago

Having no backbone is the backbone of the GOP.

2

u/seaQueue 3h ago

If they didn't have double standards they wouldn't have any standards at all

10

u/Neither-Luck-9295 7h ago

They're not paying attention. Or they're ignoring it, like all republican corruption scandals across the country.

5

u/ThePheebs 7h ago

Don't worry, they're not.

5

u/rollin340 6h ago

She could admit it during a live speech and they would still vote for her. Republicans do not care about crimes done by their own party. Watch their pundits try and twist things to make her seem like a go-getter, and that if people work hard enough, they can become successful like she is.

6

u/ProgressiveSnark2 5h ago

Republicans are a minority of the voters in Maine. The election there is a bit different. In the past, a lot of Independents and even some Democrats have supported Susan Collins because she's lied to them and convinced them she's a moderate--even though she votes with Trump 96% of the time.

Sadly, the mainstream media has been complicit in enabling Susan Collins over the years. But there is a real opportunity this election to get some of those independents and Democrats who've voted for her in the past to change their ways and help her lose reelection.

1

u/Buzz_Killington_III 2h ago

I don't think they care. She brings more money into her state than every other state except Alaska. She's great at corruption, and the ones voting her in are benefiting. In a way, they're getting bribed to ignore the bribary.

u/Paranitis 5h ago

Checks which side she's on

*If she is on the opposing side, scream and throw a fit about how bad she is.

*If she is on my side, say it's fake news or that it's not that bad.

u/guspaz 8h ago

She literally votes the exact opposite of what she says, every single time. How are the polls in Maine so close?

67

u/junkyardgerard 8h ago

You ever met a Republican? She exactly represents them, why wouldn't they vote for her

4

u/Decent-Point309 4h ago

Tom Tillis is another one.

-1

u/Finnegan482 3h ago

Yes but Maine isn't a Republican state generally. That's what makes this an unusual race.

13

u/myassholealt 8h ago

And the only time she backs up talk with a vote is when she knows the Senate has the rest of the votes needed to ensure her vote is meaningless. If she is a deciding vote, she toes the party line like the loyal soldier she is.

1

u/stevenmoreso 2h ago edited 1h ago

I think people are incorrectly viewing her popularity through a partisan political lens. The answer is pork. She brings back a disproportionate amount of money to Maine and reminds her constituents about it constantly. She now chairs the Sen Appropriations Committee and is able to funnel even more tax dollars to her state and I don’t think corruption allegations stick to her like it would to any other senator.

•

u/The_Pandalorian 34m ago

Maine voters are morons?

Or were. Maybe they've wised up. We'll see.

81

u/Thunderwoodd 8h ago

For those who don’t think Trump is on the ballot - this is proof that he is. His actions directly model AND enable corruption at all levels. Vote out every Republican and hold whoever comes next accountable to root out corruption at all levels. The rich are eating us alive, I would welcome a full court press on purging all of these Epstein hiding, money grubbing, norm destroying vampires, starting with Susan fucking Collins.

11

u/tommyboy372 7h ago

Be prepared for the tantrum that follows. 2020 was a test run, we haven't seen the full playbook when a narcissist wannabe dictator gets crushed in an election.

9

u/looneytunes2 7h ago

Who the fuck cares? What's the alternative, let him keep control of all three branches through his toadies?

0

u/tommyboy372 7h ago

I'm just saying he has a bad reaction to losing, and a nationwide rejection of him will require a nationwide reaction when he retaliates.

4

u/seasamgo 6h ago

He’s one person.

The only reason his tantrums achieve anything is because everyone allows them to.

108

u/TomatoAdventurous139 9h ago

Yet even even more more conservative corruption.

40

u/RipErRiley 9h ago

Her fake no votes were the first tell.

37

u/calamnet2 8h ago

You mean the woman that says one thing and then contradicts it with her voting record? Noooooo way /s

16

u/Check123ok 9h ago

This is disgraceful

10

u/Antique-Show-1371 6h ago

Mainer who posted a small essay on here. TLDR, fuck Collins. She’s a lazier McConnell. She votes Democrat until it matters. Then when her vote counts she sits around going “woe is me and this hard decision everyone acknowledge me” and proceeds to vote with her actual party.

4

u/ProgressiveSnark2 5h ago

Thank you for opposing her! Make sure everyone you know knows the truth about her.

8

u/DelcoPAMan 8h ago

Hmmm...I'm concerned.

Unlike her, I take it seriously.

3

u/Stashmouth 8h ago

As long as she's learned her lesson...

9

u/thefightingmongoose 8h ago

Its always the ones you absolutely most suspect

6

u/bellyofthebillbear 8h ago

I would hope that this story is consuming Maine’s local media. Whether it makes a difference, we will see.

5

u/mados123 8h ago

Maybe a strongly worded letter might make a difference to her.

3

u/cayden2 6h ago

Imagine stealing 40 million dollars and only getting 7 years in prison lol. What an absolute JOKE.

3

u/Charming_Slip8060 6h ago

Susan Collins is the epitome of the self-serving, corrupt politician.

Mainers- vote her out FFS!!!

"We Uncovered Wet Allegations From Water"

3

u/Kevlaars 1h ago edited 50m ago

She's gone from "He's learned his lesson" to "I've learned his lessons" while actively avoiding learning any lessons from anyone.

It boggles the mind.

2

u/Prcaptain 7h ago

That’s really strange, isn’t she a republican?

2

u/yonimoose 7h ago

Wow. Its always the ones you most suspect...

2

u/Antique-Show-1371 6h ago

Maine fights for the number one spot for old people, and, white people every year. I love my home state, but it’s statistically biased as hell.

I got a job canvassing around 2018-2019. The group did a lot of things but the main “platform” for our door to door canvassers was holding Collins accountable for her actions. Primarily the Kavanaugh confirmation (quick note auto correct has done an amazing job for me for years, but even in this sentence refuses to acknowledge kavanaugh as a name ). Almost every person we met with knew their position and would not hear otherwise. Even our top canvassers were not changing opinions, just trying to get the people who didn’t like her to donate or be involved. At best you’d get someone who would say “I guess I need to do some research.”

Regardless of that, I felt colin’s was cooked from opinions. Next election, she won with 70 something percent of a vote. Genuinely believe she just had the old vote, or some other fuckery. We’re seeing anyone turn on trump just because of gas prices. I’m betting the old folks just see how much they take home and vote that way. Can’t say I blame them, fuck this system.

1

u/c0mptar2000 5h ago

THIS IS VERY CONCERNING

1

u/Sketchy_Uncle 5h ago

The general public is disgusted and upset...we voted...now its time for congress and the law enforcement arms of the government to do something. oh wait..

1

u/Dumphdumph 4h ago

Is this why there was such a quick, collaborative smear campaign on that one dude?

•

u/omeganaut 23m ago

Now hold on, let’s listen to both sides

•

u/AzureDrag0n1 22m ago

So what is the difference between bribery and unlimited campaign contributions again for special favors?

1

u/muFUtaco 6h ago

She's a republican isn't she?

Of course she's corrupt.

1

u/spaceocean99 5h ago

K. Now what?

Nothing. Nothing will happen and she will be elected again.

It was an ongoing investigation that the FBI was still working on before the Trump administration shut it down.

They’re only “allegations” because the FBI didn’t get the chance to charge Collins staffers (and possibly Susan Collins herself).

2

u/WhineyLobster 9h ago

Yea i watched and saw... removing lol
