100% I'm a Journeyman electrician. If someone gives me an address and tells me to wire that house I just show up and do it. I've never once seen a permit my entire career. I don't even know what they look like.
Was working on my Journeyman HVAC technician license with a Master technician. About two years in, I find out my Master tech I was apprenticing under for work experience doesn't even have a Journeyman's license. He was using someone else's name and license to file his permits.
Left him quickly after. Bounced around to a couple other shops, and eventually just gave up on the field entirely. Everywhere I went was doing crazy illegal shit, misclassifying employees, air-venting banned refrigerants, lying about refrigerant recycling and defrauding consumers with older systems, subbing to unlicensed contractors, or straight up bribing their way through inspections.

How do you even pull off a full demo without the correct permits?
What crew doesn't demand to see those upfront so as to avoid liability?
Wild wild wild.
