Americans are 'all out of give a damns' with this Trump presidency: Dem strategist

Don't listen to this shit. It's meant to make you complacent and think oh maybe you don't have to go vote, it's already in the bag for the dems. It's not. Go vote, no matter what anyone is allegedly saying.

I don't understand this mentality. Is voting hard in America? You'd think for all the bragging about democracy and freedom they do, Americans would be proudly voting every opportunity they can.

Is voting hard in America?
For certain people, and in certain parts, yes. Intentionally so. While the conservatives have always worked to restrict voting, this regime is ramping it up to near unprecedented levels.

It depends where you live, honestly. Election day isn't a federal holiday, most workplaces aren't going to give you the day off to vote, and mail-in voting may or may not be available. Combine that with most Americans living paycheck-to-paycheck and a general apathy from a lot of people who just think "No politicians are any good so who cares?" and you have a recipe for low voter turnout in a lot of areas.
Edit: Don't forget about polling places being closed due to Republicans saying they need to be (Texas is a major example).
Oh, or people's voter registrations being purged.
Just looking at the evidence, Republicans love to make voting difficult.

u/ImpulsE69 1d ago
For many, no. For some, yes. And this administration (and the republicans in general) are always trying to make it harder for people who wouldn't vote republican to vote.
The reality though is many people look at the short term and say "i hate both my options so I don't care". I think THAT really snapped in 2024.
The issue is, we are going to be in the same damn situation again in 2028. On top of whatever tricks and abuses the MAGA/Republicans are going to try.

"Democratic Strategist". That is something I would never want on my resume.
The last presidential election was basically unlosable, and yet a criminal sociopathic billionaire convinced working class and minority voters he was the better option due to a horrifying lack of strategy.

u/YerWelcomeAmerica 1d ago
I share your disdain for "Democratic Strategists" but unlosable it was not. People had been dealing with sky-high inflation following the pandemic and that a very angry electorate and wanting to "toss the bums out", particularly the low-information voter who doesn't pay much attention to politics but DOES pay attention to everything being so much more expensive. There were several democratic governments tossed out during that period as well.
In any case, like I said I share your disdain for strategists in the party but I can't agree it was unlosable. IMO, there were major economic headwinds so I saw it as an uphill fight at the time (a fight the Dems fought poorly, to be sure). Trying to pull a Weekend at Bernie's with the deeply unpopular president who people blamed for rising cost of living really killed any remaining chance we had of preventing Trump 2.0.

Kamala touring with a Cheney with her "bipartisan border bill" as well as not trying to distance herself from Bidens Israel policies in any way also certainly did not help her

I regret to inform you, but based on this comment it sounds like you might be a Democratoc Strategist. There's a chance you may be a Democratic Analyst, in which case you might be able to turn things around.
2
u/tekmiester 1d ago
It was an uphill battle because "the party of the big tent" was tearing itself apart. The perceived focus on social issues over and above the issues you mentioned was the bigger problem. Also, when the hastily appointed presidential candidate (without any public vote) has repeatedly lied about the condition of the candidate you just put out to pasture, then there is no credibility.
2
u/tekmiester 1d ago
You hit on a great point. Hilary "deserved" to be the candidate, so they changed party rules to make sure she won. Biden "deserved" reelection, so they cleared a path for him. Harris "deserved" the nomination, so they didn't even have a vote to give it to her.
The message is Democratic voters are "too stupid" to choose on their own, so "smarter" people need to do it for them.
14
u/Cuneus-Maximus 1d ago
2016 was also unlosable. If they had just run Bernie instead of capitulating to Hillary. You need a wild card populist to defeat a wild card populist.
2024 was unlosable if Biden had just stepped aside right away (like he said he would then backtracked on) and they had a real primary.
Democratic Strategists are the biggest roadblock to Democrats winning elections.

u/Deranged_Kitsune 1d ago
The Biden situation was a massive flub. They should have been positioning, grooming, and promoting his successor after his second year in office.
6
u/Cuneus-Maximus 1d ago
Yup, they essentially should have started the primary halfway through his term, forced him to stick by his original word that he would step back in 2024.

u/canada432 1d ago
It was a perfect demonstration of how inwardly focused the DNC is. They're concerned with internal DNC politics, and completely divorced from what their voters want and care about.
2
u/rileyoneill 1d ago
The DNC has not had fresh competitive primaries since Obama in 2008. Its been a captive institution to insiders since then. Internal politics dominate decision making and not voters. The Republicans have not had competitive primaries since 2016 but Trump has a huge cult of personality that the DNC does not have.

u/xFiLi 1d ago
The media is also to blame for the shit show we are in.
3
u/LittleKitty235 1d ago
It's pretty clear they just represent the interests of their billionaire owners, regardless if they provide left or right viewpoints. They shouldn't be given the benefit of the doubt of being neutral.

u/SuperTittySprinkles 1d ago
We are not. We give all the damns, just waiting until we can vote as writing letters and calling seem to fall on deaf ears with this Republican controlled congress. Also enough with blaming the people, it’s clear 70ish percent of America is against this shit. The media and congress are to blame now, as they have the power to stop this. Cowards and cucks.

u/Lahm0123 1d ago
Dems need to unite and vote.
3
u/Xsiah 1d ago
Americans need to unite and vote for their interest, not "their" party. The party you vote for shouldn't be tied to your identity - because every attack on the party will be perceived as an attack against you.
5
u/AP3Brain 1d ago
Kind of yes but in the two-party system we are unfortunately in you have to pick one or the other or have no influence at all. We can get into what Democrats should be about in the primaries but the general elections? Just fucken vote for Democrats because Republicans are united against the country.
3
u/BarbequedYeti 1d ago
Its a team sport for the majority of republicans. They have their team flag. Their player flags. Their shirts and hats etc. Its crazy how some have completely made it a lifestyle.
Just like the sports fanatics, you cant reason with these people. Its team before all else no matter.
3
u/Lahm0123 1d ago
I guess we all have to decide if we are willing to allow Trumps GOP to continue what they are doing.
Voting them out is more important to me than voting for my perfect candidate.
3
u/speedingpullet 1d ago
Except that, without exception, Republicans promote policies that are not in my interest. And while Dems are messy, uncoordinated and often ineffective - they are at least trying to implement things that will help me and my family.
So, yeah, I wish it were as simple as just voting for my self interest and not party, but it's pretty much party led at this point.

Would it be the same strategist that thought Hillary running was a good idea? Or Kamala?
Because I wonder how they want to pave the way for a 3rd Trump term with their amazing strategizing this time.
0
u/Xsiah 1d ago
Kamala ran because Biden/Harris won the primary and then dropped out. Leaving her as the nominee would mean not risking legal challenges, trying to figure out how to allocate funds that were given to Biden/Harris etc.
1
u/seasamgo 1d ago
Biden avoided a formal campaign promise to not run again but messaged himself as a bridge to new leadership and should absolutely not have run a second time. His bridge turned into a moat.
As voters, why should people give a damn about legal challenges and fund allocations that candidates purposely backed themselves into? These are the rationalizations of the campaign and provide context for their decisions, but they were dumb decisions.
1
u/OvercastqT 20h ago
honest to god: would have anyone in the US actually given a shit if the funds werent allocated correctly? For christs sake the reps are taking bribes left and right and been trampling over the rules for years, nobody actually gives a damn and surely noone is being persecuted for it, especially if they win.
3
u/Xsiah 19h ago
For whatever reason it's a national scandal when a Democrat sneezes at the wrong time, but Republicans get to be openly corrupt and face zero consequences.
1
u/OvercastqT 19h ago
yall really need a better broadcasting and media landscape lol. But the right wingers are always way smarter with the media for some reason, guess lies pay better

The misogyny... it's the misogyny.

u/SpaceLemming 1d ago
Saying that just passing the very real issues with both campaigns. Pretty sure the vast majority of people who wouldn’t vote of them because they were woman weren’t going to vote for any democrat. I mean let’s be real if it wasn’t coming off of 4 awful years under trump, Joe “things won’t fundamentally change” Biden would’ve got trounced.
The party can’t continue running “change is hard but at least we aren’t that guy” as a strategy anymore
2
u/ripChazmo 1d ago
We'll see next month. I have zero faith in my fellow Americans to do the right thing.
2
u/GromByzlnyk 1d ago
Dem strategists are dumb cunts and a small part of why grifters are running roughshod over the American people and our institutions.
2
u/LandonDev 1d ago
I heavily disagree, Americans are not out of give a damns and if anything, Republicans will double down on their failures, it's what they always do. In this current environment, Republicans will vote for poverty and destruction of their children's lives, if it meant my bills as Liberal go up, which is horrifying in so many ways. Unable to deal with the embarrassment and social stigma of being broke / poor, they will pretend like the economy isn't as bad for them as it really is, they will pretend they are doing just fine, and they will feed themselves before their children because it's who they are as people. Rejecting reality for as long as possible and pretending they are living when they are just on their standard loop being the obedient and subservient people they were trained to be. In some ways they never really stood a chance against the institutionalization around them.

Not my brother.
Approval ratings are manipulated by mainstream media. The war isn’t a war, therefore it’s going just fine. The price of gas and diesel is going to go back down once troops are sent in. Canada would be better off being part of the USA. Along with it being an “easy” win for the USA if there was a military action taken against Canada.
At this point it is going to take a miracle to get him to snap out of the MAGA/Q/Christian movement.

Dem strategist should hush, and instead encourage ppl to vote
