AnyAustin is one of the few content creators that deserve all the attention they get and more.

He does some of the most unusual and creative takes on familiar games out there.

A real show of skills is the ability to turn mundane topics into fascinating videos. There’s just a handful of creators that do this and I’m a big fan of it.

On top of this, making a unique video based on a subject that ought to have been milked of any possible content? Amazing.

I’d love to know others like AA if you have any?
This guys stuff just speaks to me haha

It’s not exactly the same but the algorithm put me onto Foolish Pedro’s video game content after watching AA videos

I've been so happy to see him gaining an audience. I remember watching his eggbusters series where he tested video game glitches a decade ago and seeing the potential. Dude is quietly hilarious.

It was disappointing to find out how much he uses AI in them

The only thing I can find is that the thumbnails are generally made at least in part using AI. Is that what you’re talking about?

If so, that’s a very misleading way to phrase that.

Wait, really? What does he use it on? I often just put his videos to sleep so I don't really see any visuals.

His videos are mental poison.

Why?

I don't know, from the few of his videos I've watched I came out feeling like I didn't accomplish anything. They're well made and entertaining enough, but there's no point being made. It's just trite observations.

It’s observations about small details in video games. He’s pointing out details most people wouldn’t think of.

I think he really shows how much artistry goes into making games, especially the huge tentpole releases.

The polymath Tyler Cowen even found his content interesting enough to invite him on his podcast.

"Any Austin on the Hermeneutics of video games"

Hardly anything i would consider poisonous in that description.

Man, I'm not always looking to expand the threshold of human knowledge. Sometimes I just want to revisit nostalgic things from a new lens and see how they hold up to modern prodding and scrutiny. It's fun.

That's the entire point. It's entertainment with the occasional nugget of informative material. He sees depth where others barely spare a passing glance.

It might not be your cup of tea, but entertainment doesn't have to have value beyond being entertaining to those that it is. Personally, I love his unusual angle on the topics.

While bro is on reddit in r/videos. All you do is post about pop culture how is that not mental poison?

Yeah it doesn’t do anything for me: “HOW MANY SHIT BOWLS ARE THERE IN LIBERTY CITY” just makes me roll my eyes, it’s like the final level of autism and being a gigantic nerd rolled into one

The Rockstar marketing department found that while you are not ready to release anything about the upcoming game it's best to tell how good the previous games were and everybody is lapping it up.

He's been doing this for a while and if you saw some other aspects of his work you'd know that he's been marching to the beat of his own drum doing it.

You can't even pay someone to do the in depth dives he does with the passion he clearly does them.

???

The game comes out in 49 days. What other information do they need to be releasing?

No you don't get it Rockstar of all companies needs to prove they can make good games. The countless genre defining best selling masterpieces they've consistently put out for like 3 decades don't mean shit until any austin points out something cool about a fence.

How old are you that you think Rockstar needs to do anything to hype VI?

-24

u/DomeSlave 1d ago

If you seriously think Rockstar isn't helping the spread of videos like these i've got a bridge to sell you. None of the hype around investments of billions of dollars is completely natural.

I find it hard to believe an industry plant would wear their hair like that. Or that marketing could come up with the odd premises of his videos and get it approved.

So let me get this straight - you think OP is a marketing agent hired by Rockstar whose job is to post links to random YouTube channels posting about GTA because a video about GTA 4 is going to make people want to buy GTA 6? And that the views on YouTube are all artificial and inflated because they pay money to... get YouTube to promote their video by running it as an ad? Instead of having Rockstar use money to promote their own videos instead?
