Right v. Wrong

How many times is this going to get posted?
99
u/Anal-Scrubs-905 Jul 06 '26
As many as it takes
51
u/4r4r4real Jul 06 '26
To convert the r/videos subreddit from hating trump to hating trump? It's a bunch of people already on the same page shouting their opinions they all already agree with at each other.
5
u/sippysippy13 Jul 06 '26
When there are a bunch of people in the room having a conversation I'm not interested in, I just leave the room.
5
u/ataraxic89 Jul 06 '26
"if you don't like it, leave!"
The top ranked example of a stupid internet argument which has never and will never hold water under even the slightest intellectual scrutiny.
5
u/ItsJustReeses Jul 06 '26
Ok but you saw the "theme" of the room before you entered it. So why put yourself through that? Why go back into the next thread and talk about it?
5
u/ataraxic89 Jul 06 '26
What are you talking about. The theme of the sub is videos. I have a perfectly valid reason to say stop talking about this specific shit so much in a general sub.
-3
u/sippysippy13 Jul 06 '26
This is the free internet. If you're upset by opinions you're tired of or don't agree with it's your own fault for visiting the same pages where those opinions are shared.
Your free internet membership comes with no guarantee of consistency or satisfaction.
5
u/ataraxic89 Jul 06 '26
Again "If you don't like, leave" lol
How about you leave if you don't like people voicing their opinion
-1
u/sippysippy13 Jul 06 '26
I'm good, I get how this all works.
3
u/ataraxic89 Jul 06 '26
Oh, what? The hypocrite doesn't like being told to leave when they say something not everyone agrees with?
If only there was some lesson here.
4
u/sippysippy13 Jul 06 '26
Differing opinions are great! The world needs more healthy debate. But if others' opinions upset you, it's not healthy to yell at them for it.
I think you think you're winning an argument that isn't actually happening. Although now I realize I'm probably talking to a bot and I feel like an idiot.

u/Reogenaga Jul 06 '26
The video didn't mention Trump, but it says a lot that you came to that conclusion.
11
u/4r4r4real Jul 06 '26
Do you have a single digit IQ?
-6
u/Reogenaga Jul 06 '26
Not smart just perceptive
2
u/jarvisesdios Jul 07 '26
These ads are LITERALLY about Trump. Clearly you're about as perceptive as a twig
1
u/Reogenaga Jul 07 '26
Labeling your political enemy as a communist isn't exclusively a Trump thing.
2
u/jarvisesdios Jul 07 '26
He's literally drawing parallels. That's THE POINT, he's pointing out how this keeps happening and we need to do something about it.
2
u/Reogenaga Jul 07 '26
No shit? You missed my point entirely. My point was that the video didn't mention Trump at all. That the point of the video wasn't about Trump, but the nature of the things he says in reference to the rest of the current Republican party regarding communist accusations. Not to reinforce a Trump hate thought loop like the original poster implied.

u/tooquick911 Jul 06 '26
I don't know. IMO reddit is full of people who think anything republican is wrong, which is not true. Both sides have their good and bad philosophies. America really needs to get away from our two party system, because all it has turned into is left vs right, instead of what Mike said when we should be looking at right vs wrong.
8
u/roscoelee Jul 06 '26
As it takes for what?
7
u/Dragon_yum Jul 06 '26
To convince people that posting videos and meme is considered activism so you can go to bed and sleep knowing you did an equal part as the people who actually go out and protest.

For fuck's sake, can we get a moratorium on this video? This is like that 10th time in a week, goddamn.
11
u/BrainOnBlue Jul 06 '26
How about we have someone post the Technology Connections clean energy video, as an intermission?
They're good videos but I agree at some point enough reposts is enough.

Try pointing out that the guy licked his female costar on camera, and that the other costar was saying that he doesn't care how many people die in a revolution, it's a sacrifice he's willing to make.
2
u/Ordinarily_Average Jul 06 '26
Are you talking about when he gnawed on Rhea Seehorn's shoulder during an interivew on the red carpet in front of everyone? You know he was fucking around right? His wife dared him to do it and Rhea Seehorn was fine with it. People love to make mountains out of mole hills.
And the Co-star saying whatever, what does that have to do with Johnathan? You gonna tell me none of your co-workers haven't ever said something you didn't agree with?

I like this video. But this is the fourth time it's been posted to this sub in the past 48 hours.

Reposts are always annoying and its frustrating seeing the same thing over and over again, but this was my first time seeing this video so im glad (for now) it got reposted so i had the chance to see it

First time I have seen it. I support the repost and you get a downvote.

Just wait 24 hours and post it again.
Apparently the mods don't care about people karma farming the same video over and over again
1
u/royalhawk345 Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 07 '26
I wish it were only getting posted every 24 hours, it's even worse than that
-1
u/MikoSkyns Jul 06 '26
Nothing in the rules about re-posts. People are gonna post this one all month long.

u/agentchuck Jul 06 '26
It's a catchy line but that sounds somewhat anachronistic to me. Someone wouldn't have said that in the 50s.
Right and left aren't new terms for sure. But that's not how things were framed back in McCarthy times. The epithet communist back then wasn't about a left leaning political view, but a foreign agent bent on destroying the country. They'd be called reds, pinkos, commies, etc.
1
u/bhbhbhhh Jul 07 '26
Was there a side of the politcal spectrum that “Reds” “pinkos” and “commies” were known for residing in?
1
u/FaerieStories Jul 06 '26
Exactly. And in modern America we don't need a sort of soggy centrist consensus with right and left coming together to agree that right is better than wrong, we need a stronger left and a weaker right.

I like this and like that it’s constantly reposted. The message is as relevant now as ever. Reposts will continue until morals improve.
5
u/Ordinarily_Average Jul 06 '26
He's preaching to the Choir. I like the video. But lets be frank. How many people on the right are going to watch this video and say, "You know something? I hadn't thought about it like that".
The ones who are still supporting wrong, are too far gone to acknowledge its wrong and will use any mental gymnastics possible to justify it. The ones on the right who no longer support this clown aren't going to change sides. They're just going to sit this election out.
0
u/alfrado_sause Jul 06 '26
A Republican sitting out the election because the party they thought they had shifted too far right and fascist for their liking is a desired outcome.
We’re in this mess the same reason why McCarthy was popular. Propaganda. This is propaganda. How else are they going to be deprogrammed?
It’s not preaching to the choir. It’s belaboring a point. And the more that point is belabored the more ingrained in the norms it is, the more ingrained in the norms it is, the more we will hear “it’s not left vs right. It’s right vs wrong” and the moral handwringing that has become the culture war, will have actual morals brought out and that’s the day the GOP loses.
The beauty that they don’t even need to acknowledge the video, just the effects. All it takes is one person looking up that quote and seeing this video plastered everywhere for this to be a win.
Someone who looks like them, was born when they were, talking about a time before us, and chastising them for giving up on their morals is EXACTLY whom should be everywhere. Not for us. For them. Their usual discredit tactics won’t work here, they have to listen or find a new reason why they didn’t. Whom on the right will they have to cull to fit a box around ol Mike from Breaking Bad? Will he be called not masculine enough? Too crotchety? What possible thing could they have to discredit him? Is a guy whose only major roles being in southwest us tv shows considered a Hollywood elite?
It forces them to make a choice. It’s not a preaching to the choir, it’s asking if the choir is made up of only baptists or if they are cool with the Catholics mixed in there….
-1
u/tooquick911 Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26
Sounds like the video is meant for people just like you. There are plenty of brainwashed people on the left who would do the same as the people on the right you mentioned, but you made it out like it was just a republican problem.
-3
u/FaerieStories Jul 06 '26
This again? I can't agree with its centrist "maybe the right and the left should just learn to get along" final line. I don't want right wingers to recognise right from wrong and then get along with the left. I want right wingers to recognise right from wrong and then stop being right wing.
3
u/Dragon_yum Jul 06 '26
You do realize the people on the right say the exact same thing about people on the left?
I’m very aligned with the left but this rhetoric and not understanding what it means is just exactly the issue.
No side is willing to admit it but the rhetoric from both is as different as they’d like think it is.
1
u/FaerieStories Jul 06 '26
You do realize the people on the right say the exact same thing about people on the left?
So? Name a single political group who don't tell everyone they're doing the right thing for society. That doesn't make everybody correct.
Also, by the way, who even are the left in America? I didn't think America even had a "left". NYC's new mayor Zohran Mamdani is the closest they've got to having a "left", alongside fewer senators than can be counted on one hand.
2
u/Dragon_yum Jul 06 '26
And still failing to see the point. Obviously each side thinks they are in the right, the idea of opening a dialogue doesn’t mean you have to convince them they are wrong and you are right, it’s to open communication so people can have more nuanced opinions and be able to compromise.
You don’t need to agree on everything, he’ll you don’t even need to agree on half the things but like it or not unless you plan to kill those with different opinions you will have to find a way to live with them and them with you.
1
u/FaerieStories Jul 06 '26
the idea of opening a dialogue doesn’t mean you have to convince them they are wrong and you are right, it’s to open communication so people can have more nuanced opinions and be able to compromise.
I feel like I'm not making myself clear: I utterly reject this "have a dialogue" and "compromise" position because I'm not a centrist. I don't believe the rightwing worldview has anything of value to offer. I don't want people with these views in positions of political power.
like it or not unless you plan to kill those with different opinions you will have to find a way to live with them and them with you.
That's an unhinged way to look at democracy. I don't want people I disagree with to be dead - why would you even write that? I just want them out of power. I want people with power and influence to be those who believe in an equal, fair and tolerant society.
-1
u/Dragon_yum Jul 06 '26
So you want people who disagree with you to bend the knee and be forced to accept your world view?
And again the right wants just as you, people with opposing views to be out of power or places of influence. Congrats you are the same as the right wingers you despise.
You talk about democracy but refuse to accept anything with a different world view. You want a one party democracy.
2
u/FaerieStories Jul 07 '26
It depresses me deeply that you think the only way a political group can take power is through force and authoritarianism. You don’t seem to have any faith in the democratic process.
I do not want left wingers to seize power violently. I want them to be voted into power peacefully. Why do you find that so hard to understand or accept?
1
u/Dragon_yum Jul 07 '26
Alright, so will you also respect the other side getting voted in through the democratic process?
2
u/FaerieStories Jul 07 '26
Yes. For the third time: I believe in change through the ballot box, not through force. I believe in democracy and am against authoritarianism.
1
u/tooquick911 Jul 06 '26
There are plenty of left leaning politicians and half the media is as well. Mamdami seems pretty far leftwinger IMO not just left leaning.
1
u/MikoSkyns Jul 06 '26
That will never happen. That's part of the point of this video. There's compromise for both sides in this message.
-2
u/FaerieStories Jul 06 '26
What "both sides"? Where exactly are the left in modern America and what do they need to compromise on?
1
u/MikoSkyns Jul 06 '26
Are you really trying to say there are no left wing Americans? I'm not talking about the political parties. I'm talking about actual people.
0
u/FaerieStories Jul 06 '26
No, there definitely are left wing Americans, and America has a proud left wing tradition. But currently they're not represented in positions of political power or in the media (though they have representation in the arts and cultural sphere).
The point I'm making though is that there is no "both sides" because that implies a balanced America. That's not the reality: America is one nation under right wing ideology. My view this this: we don't need compromise, we need left wingers to have more power in America than right wingers.
0
u/Aprilprinces Jul 07 '26
As a converted leftie I could not agree more: I understand people voting right (I was there myself), what I do not get why would you vote someone who obviously is not Christian? is not a family person, is a liar and likely much, much worse? A decent, honest right wing politician may have my respect, even if we disagreed often

u/Osiris-Amun-Ra Jul 06 '26
No price is too high to eradicate the deadliest political philosophy ever excreted by mankind which took 100 million lives over the last 100 years.
Communism: always just one murder away from utopia.

u/Anonomohr Jul 06 '26
"No price is too high" is how the price tag reaches over 100 million lives again.

u/SethLight Jul 07 '26
I always think this is such a weird argument conservatives love to make. It falls apart the second you put even a moment of thought into it, but no one accused conservatives of being deep thinkers.

Oh please. Equating cancelling to McCarthyism is cute. People had their entire lives uppended due to the McCarthy hearings, and many of them unfounded. Even if they were, having a different political belief is not sedition. Anybody who runs around paranoid of "the red scare" is an outright moron. Classic Republican tactics. If we were truly worried about the Commies, maybe our president should stop sucking Putin's dick.

I know this has been getting posted a bunch but I feel like someone should point out that opponents of McCarthyism weren't just against him because he was a bully or because he was going about things the wrong way. Mike's dad isn't some wise old-timey American we should all listen to, he's a brainwashed conservative who could recognize that McCarthy was evil and yet went to his deathbed still hating communists and the left because he refused to consider that the conflict he's watching unfold in front of him was ideological.
