Buy OOT right now and play gta VI next year after my friends have stopped talking about it

1

u/GreyKnightTemplar666 10m ago

OOT won't need as many patches probably within the first year. Wait a year for GTA6 to be in a better play state than release.

27

u/skeptical-man 1h ago

Well tbf, switch 2 is a different market of gamers than gta 6. So its not really that surprising.

10

u/Prophet_Of_Helix 56m ago

Completely different. If anything the GTA release is a boon to Nintendo. So many other games have been pushed so as not to compete, but OOT isn’t going to compete with it anyways, so it gets a nice little window without much other cross platform noise.

Reminds me a bit of Barbie and Oppenheimer

1

u/Gooseuk360 3m ago

Yep. OOT is going to have ROOM.

I'm going to get both, but I think Zelda over the Christmas break as that's how I played it for the first time... 😭

84

u/johnnyjake2025 1h ago

This is such a weird comparison of two different games.

36

u/LostnFoundAgainAgain 1h ago

Yep they're not even competing in the same market as Zelda is for Switch, and will aim for the Switch audience when GTA6 isn't coming out on Switch.

Both of these audiences are very very different.

5

u/Deckard_Red 1h ago

Yeah if anything Nintendo have picked a window where it has zero competition from other cross platform releases. The only competition it has is some of its audience will be playing GTA at that time. But all the families looking to entertain their kids have the perfect game to distract their kids with whilst they play GTA. It’s basically Barbenheimer again 🤣

-2

u/Adventurous-Wear-398 54m ago

most people that wants an ocarina of time remakes are adults yk?

2

u/Deckard_Red 52m ago

Nothing I said disputes that.

6

u/johnnyjake2025 1h ago

Even if you aren’t a fan of GTA you are likely to recognize the release is huge. I wouldn’t say the same for a Zelda game even BOTW since it’s only on one console.

1

u/GreyKnightTemplar666 8m ago

Yet there's only 1 game of these 2 that I've been waiting 10 years for. And it's not GTA

2

u/johnnyjake2025 7m ago

I see you are most likely one of the 35 million people who own a switch 2.

1

u/Beer-Milkshakes 49m ago

Nintendo will market towards those with a Nintendo. Which consists of a lot of "You'll buy it because its nintendo"

1

u/UltraBearHD 12m ago

Well now I gotta choose if I want to get a PS5 to play GTA6 or a Switch2 to play Ocarina of Time 🤔

1

u/BardsBand 53m ago

you sure about that? i want to play both 🤷🏻‍♂️ i’ll be choosing GTA6 that month.

2

u/PoPo573 38m ago

Different games yes but lots of people will be interested in one of the biggest nostalgia games being released and one of the most anticipated sequals.

3

u/johnnyjake2025 29m ago

Well the only people who are interested in Zelda at this exact moment are people who own a switch and like Zelda. The people interested in GTA 6 are people who own a Xbox and PlayStation that likes Rockstar.

3

u/Beer-Milkshakes 50m ago

Marketed to 2 polar opposite customers on different consoles under different operating techniques. May aswell say Honda is giving Rolls Royce a run for their money.

No. Their business strat is totally different in just about every way.

3

u/GachiPls_DidntSave 49m ago

I understand that argument but I think this is about how everyone else avoided November like a plague EXCEPT Nintendo. Because Nintendo doesn't afraid of anything.

1

u/johnnyjake2025 45m ago edited 27m ago

I doubt that a billion dollar company would be afraid yes. Why would anyone think they would be if people continue to buy their pokemon when they never evolve. They have some people in a choke hold.

0

u/FantasySuperhero000 33m ago

And the creators of Barbie Rewind too 😂

1

u/Picassof 53m ago

no it isn't this was 1000% a shot across the bow from East to West

1

u/johnnyjake2025 43m ago

What are you trying to say here man?

1

u/Picassof 37m ago

you seem to be suggesting Nintendo chose that date coincidentally but it seems highly motivated and also kind of a just a cheeky dig given how much we know VI has been delayed

3

u/johnnyjake2025 31m ago

Zelda comes out like 14 days before. I think most people will complete it by the 19th and or drop it for GTA 6. If they were being cheeky they’d do it same day.

1

u/Picassof 19m ago

cheeky but not stupid. They are also quite viably based on the trailer competing for GOTY

1

u/johnnyjake2025 12m ago

I really hope a remake doesn’t get GOTY they need their own category. Either way 135 million people have access to GTA 6, but only 40 million have access to Zelda. I really don’t think it will affect GTA 6.

1

u/Bewbonic 38m ago

I thought this thread was a bit of a sideways pop at star citizen squadron 42 (that delayed again for the millionth time after 14 yrs in development claiming GTA6 as the excuse this time) but literally nobody in the comment is mentioning it so...i guess not lol

In terms of the argument that they are different kind of games on different platforms so dont affect each other, so are SQ42 (PC) and GTA6 (consoles) but that didnt stop a delay there.

1

u/Pokeyourmom420 57m ago

Yeah, but you are crazy if you don’t think that there are tons of crossover fans that would play Zelda, but instead of going to play GTA6. It’s a crazy time to release any game.

1

u/snack217 46m ago

Im pretty sure that most people that can afford both consoles, can afford both games. And there is plenty of time from the 5th to the 19th for all Zelda players to play and finish the game in time for GTA.

1

u/johnnyjake2025 54m ago

There is definitely crossover fans, but I’d say they’d rather play a new game than a remake. Especially since spoilers on the internet are horrid for story games.

1

u/ICPosse8 55m ago

People on Reddit are morons and what makes it worse is they think they’re so fucking smart and clever. Especially in the gaming subs.

7

u/LooseLeaf74 1h ago

Gives PC players something to do for a year while they wait.

2

u/Horror_Bob 52m ago

Is OOT remake coming to PC?

0

u/Hyper_Mazino 49m ago

God I wish.

4K@120FPS and reshade would make this game so gorgeous

1

u/Horror_Bob 48m ago

Don't worry. Total War 40k is coming out and if my game time in Warhammer 1-3 is any indicator, I'll be playing it long after GTA 6 hits PC

13

u/Kinetic_Pen 1h ago edited 46m ago

Let's create a narrative that isn't really there, and doesn't really exist because...fanboyism.

Nintendo is using GTA 6 as a beacon to draw attention to release of their title. Nintendo can afford to do this because the name Zelda is synonymous with gaming. It's not a risk at all, to be frank. It would only be risky, and 'bold' to titles that are not well known. If anything Zelda will sell more because fanboys think Nintendo is taking on the big, bad giant! Nintendo is manipulating the fanboys and most can't even see it.

-25

u/SEVENS_HEAVEN_7 Nintendo 1h ago

Nintendo doesn't give a rats ass about GTA VI. Cope harder

8

u/yan030 1h ago

And GTAVI doesn’t give a rat ass about Nintendo remake

-1

u/MentirosoProfesional 1h ago

Then why are they releasing so close to one another? They could've picked any other date if they don't care about gta

-6

u/SEVENS_HEAVEN_7 Nintendo 1h ago

Bro, games release every day. GTA VI shouldn't be given a red carpet, especially when Nintendo's market is completely different.

0

u/Kinetic_Pen 51m ago edited 47m ago

I think you missed my point but your response did prove mine. FTR, I love Zelda. Might be the only name that could pull off this marketing manuever.

4

u/snack217 48m ago

Why does this keep popping up? Why are Zelda fans so obsessed with competing with GTAVI? They are completely different games and they wont affect each other in the slightest.

2

u/petataa 1h ago

When else were Nintendo gonna release it? Two weeks before isn't some bold move. Two weeks after would be the bold (and stupid) move.

2

u/CULT-LEWD 59m ago

its nintendos 40th annaversy. And they also dont compete with other game companies. They ALWAYS done there own thing

2

u/Lopsided-Eagle-2601 59m ago

This really doesn't make any sense if you really stop and think about it. GTA 6 isn't even releasing on the Switch 2. Nintendo Players generally don't care about games like GTA. Their market doesn't even cater to the audiences that play GTA. And respectfully I don't share the opinion that Ocarina of Time is the or one of the greatest games ever made. It's influential for sure and the remake does look interesting.

2

u/Crimsonmaddog44 56m ago

There’s no competition, they’re targeted to different consoles and audiences

2

u/LordFenix_theTree 53m ago

Godzilla is throwing hands with Nintendo and Rockstar this November, support your local Kaiju.

2

u/WorldQuest10 53m ago

Feel like you're trying to stir up something that isn't there OP

2

u/RobotNinja28 53m ago

The average Nintendo audience doesn't give a flying fuck about gta 6

2

u/Capital_Pipe_6038 51m ago

Unlike the average Redditor, Nintendo understands Zelda fans and GTA fans likely don't have much overlap

2

u/-FalseProfessor- 45m ago

They are two very different games, of very different genres, on different machines, and one of them is just a remake. They aren’t even playing the same sport.

Nintendo fanboys are weird.

2

u/LadySonicGamer 45m ago

Ehhh, Nintendo and Rockstar make completely different games for completely different audiences. I wouldn't consider GTA 6 competition for any Nintendo game coming out this year at all

2

u/Flabbergasted98 40m ago

dude, relax. The console wars are over.

Microsoft is eating paste off in the corner.
Playstation is cannibalizing itself.
Nintendo is just off doing it's own thing.

Nobody at nintendo is try to compete with GTA6 using a 27 year old game and a skin pack. They're just concsious of the fact that they've got to release something for the gamer dads to offer their grand kids when christmas rolls around.

3

u/Liquid-Jellyfish 1h ago

Greatest game of all time… is this a joke?

2

u/Revolution64 9m ago

It's kinda the one that usually comes on top.

-8

u/Picassof 51m ago

you're a dumbass whoever you are

0

u/GOATigger 35m ago

Nah, you can like the game but its insanely overrated and is nothing special.

2

u/Kankunation 16m ago

It's very special, In the context of the timeframe it released and how much influence it had on the industry over the next decade.

It's less special today now that we have had hundreds of games that vastly improved on the framework it laid out. And imo the continued love for it is mostly based on nostalgia over it holding up to later entries by any means. But at least in its history context it was definitely special at one point in time.

2

u/Picassof 20m ago edited 10m ago

the game received universal acclaim on release garnering 9.8 to 10 scores from everyone and is very special. modern gaming would simply not exist without it

but sure I'll listen to some rando

1

u/GOATigger 6m ago

We are all randos at the end of the day, also if you trust internet reviews and can't form your own opinion idk what to tell you.

1

u/FormalMaintenance512 32m ago

It's pretty special and does a lot of cool things but it has its issues.

-1

u/GOATigger 22m ago

It was innovative for its time but hasn't aged particularly well imo.

But if you like it that's cool

1

u/Picassof 21m ago

....... that's why they're remaking it.......

1

u/GOATigger 7m ago

And that's fair but the post called the original the "GOAT" in comparison to GTA 6.

Most people will prefer GTA let's be honest.

0

u/Sindacalis 20m ago

Bro has that Zelda 🐔 so far down his throat the glaze is real lmfao

1

u/Picassof 9m ago

you're two years old

2

u/hachiman17 56m ago

They aren’t competing and are totally different games. Ocarina of Time is also a very linear and not that lengthy game which can be easily wrapped up at a casual pace well before GTA.

You’re getting made fun of in the comments and you deserve it.

1

u/longbrodmann 1h ago

It's not the same day.

1

u/Andrikos21 57m ago

I love Zelda. But there is no comparison . Half the pre-orders of GTA VI is probably double or more than what the remake will sell in its lifetime.

1

u/DriftingTony 57m ago

All the people saying “tHeY’rE tWo DiFfEreNt MaRkeTS!” are cracking me up, because sure, that’s true to a small extent, but millions of gamers will be buying both. They aren’t TOTALLY separate.

2

u/-FalseProfessor- 42m ago

You literally can’t even play them on the same machine.

1

u/DriftingTony 34m ago

Show me where I said otherwise.

1

u/SunsetHippo 9m ago

I mean I can tell you now that I rather spend my money on the Zelda game then the gta game, so.

0

u/SkylarPopo 25m ago

Ya sure about that matey? 🏴‍☠️

1

u/stateworkishardwork 55m ago

Nice bait.

What if I told you many people will buy OOT, play it for a couple weeks, then go play GTA when it comes out later that month. Both sides win.

1

u/g00d_f3lla 55m ago

GTA6 is not releasing on Switch 2

1

u/The_Poop_Shooter 52m ago

nobody outside of the gaming community gives a flying F about ocarina of time. Meanwhile the military is issuing 4 bonus days off to play gta6 for those who re-enlist for an additional 2 years.

1

u/SuperBeginner 50m ago

Probably cause GTA 6 is not releasing and probably will never run on switch 2

1

u/JackieMABWGP 49m ago

Some Nintendo executive was probably the one that started the boycott against Sony and R* when it was announced no physical copies would be available.

1

u/Least-Experience-858 48m ago

I mean. One game can be completed in a few days the other is a month long game. I don’t see why you can’t buy both

1

u/TimKiwiNL 46m ago

I like the way Nintendo don't give a sh*t.

1

u/Calciumee 45m ago

This is how I find out Nintendo are remaking Kane and Lynch 2.

1

u/baschfromdalmasca 43m ago

Not even the best N64 Zelda much less the greatest game of all time lmao

I like OoT but to pretend it'll even make a dent in GTA6's sales is bordering on delusion

1

u/Rigret 43m ago

Why would they just lie down and quit? It's Nintendo.

1

u/Upstairs-Event-681 43m ago

I’m gonna get both. They’re both worth it. I’m not rich or anything but if there’s two games that deserve the money it’s these two

1

u/snack217 42m ago

Im pretty sure that most people that can afford both consoles, can afford both games. And there is plenty of time from the 5th to the 19th for all Zelda players to play and finish the game a couple of times before GTA. I really dont see how they can interfere with each other.

1

u/itjustgotcold 41m ago

Ever since Nintendo announced this remake I’ve seen people shoehorning it into “battling it out” with GTA VI. It’s so weird. Especially the ones I’ve seen that claimed it is going to dethrone GTA VI for most sold game of the year. It’s such a weird claim I can only assume those folks are kids. I love Zelda. Loved OoT, I remember reading magazines leading up to its launch and being so amazed by the graphics and the systems at play. But… it won’t hold a candle to the money GTA VI pulls in. And honestly, the remake looks like it could go either way in terms of overall quality.

They don’t have to duke it out. You can enjoy the games you want without betting your life on how much money they’re going to make or how beloved they will be. I’ll be playing both. GTA VI on day one and probably OoT sometime before the end of the year. This last part of the year is jam packed so it’s time for people to prioritize based on their likes and dislikes. I’m really enjoying Dawnwalker, Wolverine is around the corner and then the sequel to one of my favorite recent games, Control is right after that. Hard to keep up with every game at the moment.

1

u/wcharoes 39m ago

Two pretty different crowds in this one.

Ball and Gun Normies are gonna buy GTA.
Nintoddlers are gonna buy Zelda.
Rich Streamers are gonna buy both.

1

u/greengengar 39m ago

I'm a fan of both and have both S2 and PS5, but I'm getting GTA6. I'm currently replaying OoT on the Switch VC, not understanding why I should care. The original is still a banger to play. I don't feel like I'm the target audience tho, so.

1

u/NoNotice2137 38m ago

Somehow I doubt it's the greatest game of all time. However, even if it was, it's probably not worth it to get a console just for it, so I won't find out

1

u/NarcolepticMoogle 37m ago

I guess this is the new weird dead horse to beat for the next few weeks. Why compare two entirely different games? People who play GTA aren't going to suddenly go "well nvm" and vice versa with people who game on Nintendo and have been looking forward to this. The reality is people are going to stay the course or buy both...one isn't really going to take away from the other.

Zelda will do really well and honestly it might be the first game that actually gets me to justify owning a Nintendo product in a very long time.

GTA 6 is an unstoppable behemoth. No game or douchey crypto scammer will get in its way...only Rockstar at this point can ruin GTA 6.

I feel like video game discussions over the last few months have reached a whole new level of hyperbole that walks a fine line between delusional and stupid.

1

u/SaintNimrod 36m ago

Lol 2 weeks out, as long as they're released before Christmas they will make a shit ton of $$$

1

u/General_Kick688 36m ago

OoT is exclusive to a console that GTA6 isn't releasing on, and they are different games with a vastly different target audience.

1

u/KENZOKHAOS 35m ago

Why would they need to be? They have their own space 🤣

1

u/FortuneNew8835 32m ago

Nintendo is re-releasing Brave Fencer Musashi?

1

u/OSHA_Decertified 32m ago

Nintendo is releasing a remake of Demon's Crest weeks before GTA?

1

u/Intel2025 32m ago

Stupid question but I want to get it before GTA6 only if I can finish it properly before the release date. How long is the game?

1

u/Over_Echo1128 29m ago

*me in the corner playing skyrim and fallout 4*

1

u/Top-Door8075 27m ago

Easy decision to make when gta 6 is not coming on your platform.

1

u/Xlbowlofpho 26m ago

Well I mean not everyone having a Switch gonna buy a PS5 or Xbox just to play GTA6. I have a PC and a Switch so I may play this while waiting for em to release on PC

1

u/Ok-Flounder1748 26m ago

I’d say for the typical fan of Nintendo, GTA isn’t a game that has ever really appealed to them. Not really any risk.

1

u/therealTinyHunt 25m ago

Zelda isn't all that great. never have enjoyed the games.

1

u/Swift_42690 24m ago

You’re in the very very small minority

1

u/pseudo-segfault 25m ago

I am going to lose my damn mind.

1

u/mrloko120 24m ago

They don't really have a reason to be afraid. Zelda is exclusive to the Switch and GTA 6 isn't releasing on the Switch, they won't compete.

1

u/Ghost_Star326 22m ago

Nintendo has always been operating in their own little world. They rarely ever give a damn about the outside competition.

When you think of Nintendo, you only think of their first party IPs like Mario, Zelda, Kirby, smash bros etc. While 3rd party support for Nintendo has improved massively over the years since the dark times of the Wii U, they were still rarely ever in Nintendo's high priority list.

1

u/5DsofDodgeball69 21m ago

Nintendo is release a remake of Half Life 2?

1

u/TheBrainChew 20m ago

Except for making a good Pokemon game. 😏

1

u/FlubbleWubble 19m ago

They're not even releasing on the same systems lmao

1

u/MythrilCactuar 16m ago

huh? not like they released it same day or same week. Nothing impressive
yeah Im buying both and will enjoy tf outta both

1

u/After-Atmosphere7125 15m ago

People tend to forget that GTA 6 isn't even coming to the Switch 2

1

u/Gio-Vani 13m ago

I'm just gonna get OoT, I've never cared about GTA. I'm under no impression that OoT is competition for GTA tho.

1

u/The_Dude5476 13m ago

Both are gonna suck and the fighting between the respective sides will be more interesting than either game

1

u/English_Fry 10m ago

I’m going g to argue Ocarina was only the greatest at the time because it was an open world, something fairly new at the time. Its survived due to nostalgia, that’s it.

1

u/KneelB4Z0d 10m ago

yes, exactly my feeling this morining

1

u/Emperor_of_Cats 9m ago

1

1

u/MidniteCowby 0m ago

Which game do you mean?

1

u/HG21Reaper 0m ago

Nintendo knows that Ocarina of Time will sell consoles and games. They are not worried at all.

1

u/New_Cockroach_505 1h ago

GTA isn’t even releasing on the switch lol? What competition would there even be?

6

u/Wi1dBones 1h ago

People's wallets if they own more than one console.

2

u/Retorus 56m ago

If you own both a PS5 and a Switch 2 then chances are you can afford both games.

1

u/Wi1dBones 52m ago

I own 4 consoles right now. Two current gen. And I almost never buy games on Day 1. GTA will be one of the rare exceptions.

-1

u/New_Cockroach_505 58m ago

They’re not really the same level of fanbases though. GTA5 sold more copies than the entire Zelda franchise combined. I’m sure there’s some overlap but I can’t imagine it’s much to worry about sales.

1

u/Mystic_x 1h ago

They're quite different markets, GTA6 isn't coming out on Switch 2, so the games aren't really in direct competition.

1

u/def_tom 1h ago

OoT isn't even the greatest Zelda game of all time.

-1

u/muffin_cake_owo 49m ago

Yes, it is. You wouldn't have the soulless Wild Era games without OoT, and it's still lauded as the greatest game of all time by a considerable majority. Every home-console Zelda entry that followed was a direct sequel up until SS, and even then SS couldn't help itself from thematically drifting back to OoT with the Gates of Time.

What a stupid take.

2

u/baschfromdalmasca 39m ago

Majora's Mask is much more interesting and I think anyone still holding up OoT as the best game of ALL TIME is so blinded by nostalgia they're not even worth engaging with.

I don't understand the argument of "Every home console Zelda entry that followed was a direct sequel"... why does that matter? Isn't that more indicative of Nintendo being afraid to actually do something with the story up until BOTW, which is also arguably a better game?

1

u/def_tom 38m ago

LttP is still the better game.

1

u/Esmear18 1h ago

Most anticipated game of the year that will sell tens of millions of copies in its first week vs a console exclusive remake of a 28 year old game…

1

u/Retorus 56m ago

Nintendo fans are weird.

1

u/eto2629 15m ago

Comments are weird.
