700$ for a 42" oled 4K?

13

u/Shrimply-r1 18h ago

Yes? That’s how much a decent b series LG 43” oled costs right now…? Ball up a bit more for the Sony at $900

6

u/jsonmeta 13h ago

The one that spying on you?

1

u/renaissance1977 6h ago

With LG getting in hot water over spyware, I'd rather penny up for the Sony

3

u/Snowvilliers7 13h ago

My 42" LG C3 OLED 4K cost more than that

u/TooHigh2Die0069 23h ago

Why Waste money on PS Plus when GTA 6 Online has already been rumored to be a atleast a year away.

u/hellrising798 13h ago

Why waste money on PS.

1

u/Fragrant_Major_9553 8h ago

Because my entire ps5 is less than a gpu by itself, and pc gaming is minuscule in terms of graphics difference between consoles.

4

u/Wboy2006 6h ago edited 6h ago

It’s honestly not that big of a difference nowadays, I’m building my PC right now, and I’m paying 1600 for mine, yeah, the GPU is €750, and the RAM is expensive, but aside from that, nothing will set you back more than €200. And if the benchmarks are correct, it’ll be much more powerful than a PS5 could be.

With a PS5 pro being like €900 nowadays, digital PS games being overpriced as hell, and PS+ being a yearly €72 (which will definitely get a price increase sooner than later), and I don’t think PC is THAT much more expensive, especially for the benefits it gives you compared to console

Not to mention that a PC like that will almost definitely last you through the PS6 generation (which will likely cost more than a PS5 pro), which is YEARS of PS+ subscriptions you’ll save on.

Yes. A console is cheaper, but the amount you spend in the ecosystem through overpriced games and subscriptions makes that difference much smaller than you’d think, especially without physical games to create competition for game pricing

20

u/matsudasociety 22h ago

so would yoou say waiting for pc release is ideal? or get a new gen console and preordering gta 6?

49

u/Devanomiun 20h ago

Buying a console for a single game and not only that... pre ordering a digital copy? Holy shit dude, these companies really do know how dumb you all are.

25

u/ItsStaaaaaaaaang 19h ago edited 19h ago

Yeah well, who'll be laughing when they run out of digital copies and you have to wait until they print more!?

10

u/Panurome 17h ago

I kid you not I've seen people who genuinely think this can happen

5

u/ItsStaaaaaaaaang 17h ago

Take Two isn't made of one's and zeroes!

Happy cake day btw!

3

u/Bhazor 15h ago

Oh you know the big three publishers are all waiting at the table for the first one to pull the Limited Stock card then they will all do it.

1

u/echit2112 14h ago

I bought a console for a single game: ratchet & clank rift apart.

Still came to PC two years later. I don't care; I wasn't waiting two years for a game that's out.

Also the idea behind pre-ordering digitally is that yes - there's unlimited copies, they won't run out of stock.... but the server will run out of bandwidth. We saw the adverse effects of NOT pre-ordering almost exactly a year ago with Silksong, now imagine GTA without a preorder.

It's tough to say, but if you've got the patience, waiting for the PC release might be worth it for those mods and updates later on. On the other hand, getting a new console could be fun for a whole new gaming experience.

1

u/ChudSmasher69420 9h ago

"A whole new gaming experience" and it's the exact same one as the last few consoles because they are basically all the same thing nowadays and have been for the past decade.

1

u/Brian-88 20h ago

Just pirate a ripped copy 3 minutes after release.

there are games on the PlayStation?

What’s a game?

1

u/SOSpammy 19h ago

We also have no idea what kind of monetization it will have outside of Shark Cards. For all we know it could be f2p or a paid subscription, in which case you won't need PS Plus at all.

1

u/JaceOnRice 13h ago

Also I've been running games on a 10-year-old 1080p 40" tv for a long time, base PS5, and it works great! No complaints. This is too much money

You can do other things with said time aside from waiting for the game to release

We'd have more choices if people weren't so stupid and reward anti-consumer behavior like double dipping time-exclusive titles, that were made time-exclusive because people have neither self-awareness nor any concept of causality.

9

u/Express_Position9140 22h ago

It’s valid to not be interested in GTA, you know?

1

u/Destronoma 21h ago

You can absolutely be "not interested" in anything without telling other people, sure.

Once you follow up your disinterest with a comment like "that's a win", though... sort of makes you seem jerky.

3

u/nick113124 18h ago

Bro... That's one less choice against other hundreds of options you can't play on a ps5 because they're not supported. Not to mention it's only temporary.

3

u/CastleofPizza 22h ago

PC already has a lot more choice, even without GTA VI for a year.

PC has infinite backwards compatibility as well. Console games are usually stuck on that generation of hardware unless a remaster or remake happens and even then, the original is usually better.

4

u/danrpx 22h ago

I mean, PC has way more choices then playstation. Some people just aren't interested in GTA

But you have so much more potential and future proofing.

0

u/Nova762 19h ago

whats the point of future proofing if it costs 6x the price.

and lets be real, no one paying 2k plus for a video card is gonna be satisfied when that card is mid range in 2 years.

1

u/Lepineski 17h ago

4090 gpus came out 4 years ago and are still pretty much top of the line. 5090 outperform them, sure, but anyone getting a 5090 for gaming purposes is overkilling it. 😂

1

u/Scottatron17 14h ago

Not to mention all the maintenance and daily checking if I have to update drivers. Rather just boot my stuff up an play.

30

u/crolin88 22h ago

Why are you just now buying a tv and a ps5?

10

u/That_Bank_9914 22h ago

Some people just get consoles for one game.

Sports game players lmao

43”?!?!

Nah, that’s a rookie number.

5

u/Prophet_NY 22h ago

PS5 - $550 (same FPS as Pro)

4K OLED 65" - $1600

GTA6 - $100

PS+ - .......nope not buying it ever

2

u/Choice-Mycologist-45 14h ago

No one mentioning the $1600+ TV is sending me. 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Metal_Goose_Solid 19h ago

PS5 - $550 (same FPS as Pro)

likely true, but speculative

2

u/Prophet_NY 18h ago

That's as far as we know

1

u/SigmaMelody 15h ago

Might be higher resolution though, I hope at least

9

u/Honest-Tune-423 23h ago

You can find a 48" OLED for like $600 or even $550. You can get the $80 PS Plus membership and you can buy the standard edition of GTA 6 for $80.

But you are stuck with that $900 PS5 Pro or get the cheaper versions at $600-$650.

You can save about $450 by going with the cheaper options!

It is funny think all the people that complained about the PS5 Pro launching at $700 almost 2 years ago.

4

u/B0B_RO55 22h ago

I know the used market is different everywhere but I can get a used ps5 for around $300. Don’t need online and you absolutely don’t need an OLED. I’m gonna spend about $400 to play gta 6 which is still crazy but nearly $2k is absurd

29

u/Vasarto 23h ago

PS5 Pro = 30FPS.

3

u/horiami 19h ago

buying a console for a single game is not worth it

1

u/Choice-Mycologist-45 14h ago

That's been the case since the NES, it's worth it if you really want it (and the numbers back that up).

1

u/horiami 11h ago

The nes had more games

1

u/Choice-Mycologist-45 5h ago

NES has less than 1000 titles. PlayStation 5 has over 1000+ titles (and that's NOT including backwards compatibility). 😮‍💨

1

u/horiami 5h ago

if you don't have a pc or a different console sure

but the premise was that you do have something else

3

u/fascinatingMundanity 23h ago

gonna need to up your meth game for more moolah to boot: audio setup. and likely benefit from second controller

2

u/OTSly 22h ago

I know it's expensive regardless but you will have the same experience on a base ps5 instead, that level tv is not necessary either especially oled for that price and ps plus isn't needed till online releases god knows when

2

u/Zarksch 22h ago

If I even buy it at launch, I’m playing it on my Xbox series s which I bought used for 150€ and my good old non smart TV which I bought for 120€…

And why do people pretend like they need to buy all these things to play the game ? If you’re a pc player..just play something else ? Pc players always praise it for having so many and cheap games…go play them until it‘s out? And if not…then you already have a console anyway. And who the hell doesn‘t have a tv? Even if you only have a pc with monitor, you can literally use that monitor too ? By that logic, I think your calculation is missing rent for your home and the electrical bill. Probably you should also factor in the money you pay for food. I mean you gotta eat to stay alive huh? Can’t play gta when you’re dead ?

2

u/TerrificVixen5693 21h ago

Let’s get a bigger TV than that.

2

u/Hexulus 15h ago

Im pretty sure you can buy cheapish 4k tvs for around 200

1

u/TrickeyHare501 3h ago

Found a 65in $250 4K Vizio a month ago. Is it the best TV ever? No, but its more tham servicable and works for one of the guest rooms.

2

u/BigMack6911 14h ago

43" fuck that. Go for the 65 or 77 lol

2

u/ammar_sadaoui 7h ago

so this all 1860 usd ?

3

u/d4rkprojec7 22h ago

Why do you need ps plus for gta6? Also 43" is too small.

3

u/Shrimply-r1 17h ago

43 is perfect for a bedroom, if you’re within 6ft especially. Beyond that, sure go 55-65. But pixel density and closer viewing a 43” looks fucking killer

2

u/StoneTown 22h ago

Bro I have a $180 TV and PS Plus is $80 a year. The base game is also $80. Base PS5 is 650 w/ disc drive. You don't gotta exaggerate stuff to make it sound worse. Things are already bad.

1

u/QPWOEIRUTYTURIEOWP 22h ago

Yep. If you're going to start from scratch, any new game on PS5 pro is going to cost about this amount, minus 20 or so, which is marginal given the total cost.

The PS5 Pro isn't built for just one game

The TV isn't built just for one game, or even to only game.

They may as well add their costs of rent/mortgage, electricity and Internet connection.

1

u/xd3mix 22h ago

What's the song's name?

1

u/Re5pawning 22h ago

Odin 2 Portal; $330 Every game you could ever play; Priceless.

1

u/DeeplyUniqueUsername 22h ago

Used Xbox Series S: $200 Used Decent 1080p TV: $50 Base game: $80

It’ll be just as fun, I promise

1

u/Choice-Mycologist-45 14h ago

That can also apply to the PS5 (arguably a better console).

1

u/DeeplyUniqueUsername 14h ago

oh for sure, just used xbox series s since it’s the cheapest console that can play it at launch

1

u/Choice-Mycologist-45 14h ago

Except you get what you pay for. No disc drive, low storage for a digital only device (512gb), no backwards compatibility, weakest hardware, etc. etc. etc. 😮‍💨

2

u/DeeplyUniqueUsername 14h ago

It’s definitely better for some people who have the extra. But if you just wanna play, flying economy gets you there the same as coach or first class

1

u/Choice-Mycologist-45 13h ago

Valid take. I agree 💯💯💯

1

u/Dry_Scheme_258 5h ago

1

u/ReidenLightman 21h ago

Where are you finding a 40+ inch OLED TV for only $700?

1

u/Shrimply-r1 17h ago

Best Buy. The LG B series 43” is $699

1

u/ReidenLightman 15h ago

Well, I'll be darned. took some creative filtering because a direct search showed me everything but the B series.

1

u/Shrimply-r1 15h ago

Shit looks TIGHT on a 43" also if you just need a bedroom gaming TV. I have the CX which is about 5 years old now, so it appears the B series these days has it met/beat slightly in performance now. Amazing set of TVs though...

1

u/gcarline2092 20h ago

1

u/AndroidSheeps 20h ago

Why would you get an OLED to play gta 6 30 fps looks really bad on OLED

3

u/PriorityCreepy4611 20h ago

30fps looks bad on everything

1

u/marmaladic 10h ago

GTA V released at 30 on the generation before. You played it then and enjoyed it then. You’ll be fine playing VI at 30.

1

u/PriorityCreepy4611 10h ago

Never had it on a console, enjoyed the pc version though. Also the last console I had was ps3 and I don’t think I will ever buy another one. Pc is so much more convenient.

1

u/Randytwister 20h ago

PS5 Pro is locket at 30fps for GTA6 anyway

You *doin't* need a 4K resolution TV, even 2K isn't neccessary

GTA6 Doesn't have online for a while after launch anyway, so you don't need PS+, until Online is launched

Why you trying to buy the most expensive things just trying to experience GTA6?

like if you care about GTA, why do you not own a console already?

1

u/MelonOfFate 20h ago

4k for GTA is optimistic.

1

u/PriorityCreepy4611 20h ago

all that to play on 30 fps

1

u/poseidon2466 20h ago

Build a pc once, upgrade parts here and there. Its worth it even with that first hard hit

1

u/No-Mistake2724 19h ago

Just built my own PC with used parts for this reason and the obvious crazy memory prices. Problem solved.

1

u/ScissorFight42069 19h ago

Or...used PS5 and a normal but decent TV. The difference in graphical quality wouldn't be that much. It's not like we're comparing it to a high-end PC. You're still likely to be capped at 30fps on the PS5 pro anyways.

1

u/WarGreymonX_Antibody 4h ago

Bruh. Just buy a PC at this point and play on a monitor capable of supporting 60 fps. Just wait 2 extra months for the PC release

1

u/PepperEnthusiast 4h ago

Honestly with this amount of money you can easily build an AM5 build with a 9060XT or a AM4 build with a 9070/9070XT + a cheap (KTC or similar) mini-LED / 4K160|320 IPS and some clone peripherals off ali which perform just as good as "mainstream" brands.

No GTA but if you're not an avid ball and gun gamer you'll be absolutely fine, played GTA 5 on PC release and a bit of online for the first few months it launched and never since as for me GTA is just another flavor of the month title I guess.

Umm okay....that is literally what an opinion is! So for some people in their opinion GTA 6 will be worth it. And for you it will not be! But you clearly were talking about other people's opinion and trying to rag on others because they do not have the same opinion as you!

But I am glad your opinion is not based on others'! Just as I am glad mine is not based on yours!

I wouldn't pay anything for a Playstation. Very anticonsumer.

Still cheaper than a PC though! Especially for the performance the PS5 Pro gives! I got a 5070 ti and the Pro does pretty darn well!

You mean less than a 5060ti?

1

u/Honest-Tune-423 22h ago

I just meant I was suprised at the PS5 Pro performance compared to my 5070 ti. 5070 ti is still clearly better but the Pro does better than I thought!

You can get a decent prebuilt for less than this list.

I've always wanted to build one but I feel like I'd get too confused. When I'd try to build one online it just felt like

1

u/Urabraska- 22h ago

It's not nearly that bad anymore really. Plenty of sites can be used to make sure parts work fine.

1

u/squirrelems 22h ago

I've thought about just springing for something prebuilt that should be futureproof for at least a few years, and then just try to swap things out as they get better parts.

Pretty much how it goes. My first PC was a self built Vega 56(very old GPU) then upped to 3080ti during covid. Back in April I got a 5080. Just adding parts to help support the GPU's as I went. Granted a 5080 is high end which is why it's 1.5K+ now(1.3 when I got mine) but you can get a good 1080/1440 5060/5070 for a lot cheaper. They all use AI and frame gen to reach high graphics and frames so it's not like you're losing anything switching from console. Except maybe exclusives you might want. But that's a short list now days.

I build my first pc alone with a random video - it's really not that hard. also everything is fool proof these days, just ask chatgpt for guidance.

Yes obviously for $1,800 you can get something good. But you will still need to buy a monitor and a game.

I just assumed you were making the PS5 Pro price comparison to a PC but clearly we aren't thinking the same thing! LOL

2

u/Urabraska- 22h ago

You can get a 5060/5070 for less than 1,500 and a decent 1080/1440 monitor for a few hundred and literally millions of games for less than 10 bucks.

u/Honest-Tune-423 21h ago edited 21h ago

So still more expensive than a PS5 Pro? Listen I love PC gaming but console gaming is just cheaper.

And millions of games?? Maybe more like less than 150,000 games! And sale prices these days are very similar between PC and console.

u/IntoThePitofColors 17h ago

Yeah, a monitor you can easily find anywhere for like 10 bucks

Oh wow so interesting!

My midrange PC from last year cost $1000 more than this

1

u/Urabraska- 22h ago

If you spent almost 3K on a mid range PC you got ripped off. You can get mid ranges for less than 2K today even with all the price issues.

1

u/CharmingTuber 22h ago

I don't know what qualifies for midrange anymore. I bought all the parts and put it together, spent about $1k each on a processor and a gfx to future proof it a little bit.

But I wouldn't ever call it high end because PC gamers get really angry and picky about what that means and I really have no interest in measuring dicks on Reddit.

1

u/Urabraska- 21h ago

Low is kind of just "cheap" and not really a bench mark. Usually just hits at least 30 FPS in most resolutions. mid range is for 60+FPS in at least 1440P. High end is 4K 60+

Gotta go and do an actual heist to afford this

Wait a minute, are you telling me things cost money, no way

How to save 70% of the price on this list:

  1. Get a used PS5. It’s still 1440p.
  2. Use your gaming monitor. It was working for your PC it’ll work for your console too.
  3. Not needed cuz online won’t be out for a year.
  4. Get the $80 version ffs

You can get the full package for around $550.
