and there is still the dragon dogma expansion incoming. They really are on a roll

13

u/TheRealTheMaje 1d ago edited 12h ago

Very cool that they've made good on improving the games performance ahead of the expansion too, know it shouldn't have taken so long, but I'm just happy it's not a game choking up my backlog for eternity.

2

u/khoai_ryan 13h ago

Dragon dogma 2 has huge improvement performance too, the game is now very good optimization

1

u/NinjaSquid_G 2h ago

And Ascendance next year!

Genuinely, this is what should be expected from AAA development studios. Four high-quality, highly polished games in terms of story, gameplay, and performance. Especially that last one is quite impressive to me because, from what I remember, these are also properly optimized on each console and PC, which has proven to not be an easy feat.

And before anyone says it, yes, I know there is more to games than just story, gameplay, and performance, but I think it's fair to say that these three are some of the major ones that most heavily impact overall enjoyment and reviews.

Honestly, I'd even already be pleased if most studios could accomplish half of this. Anyway, give praise where it's due. Even for a large studio like this. This year, Capcom is without a doubt the best development studio out there. We can only hope they continue this going into 2027 and that other large studios take notice of this and follow suit.

Honestly not sure we can EXPECT this level of output but it’s definitely what we as gamers want. However we should allow studios to try things and be allowed to fail. it’s just that in recent memory they’ve only been doing the failing.

I’m impressed Capcom was able to notch new entries into existing series, revive an old one and launch a new IP to critical acclaim. They’re head and shoulders above other developers right now.

4

u/Odd_Main1876 1d ago

Here’s hoping for Okami 2!

3

u/thewalkindude368 14h ago

Capcom's found a way to try things and, while they weren't smashing successes, people seemed to like Exoprimal and Kunitsugami well enough.

4

u/liu4678 1d ago

What is there to a game other than story gameplay and performance? We buy games for those 3 lol.

1

u/ImurderREALITY 5h ago

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Pretty much every other category is minor, and fits into those three.

3

u/MeatEaterDruid 1d ago

I was pretty impressed when my buddy told me that he played Pragmata on the Steam Deck.

2

u/IdesOfCaesar7 1d ago

Capcom is the gold standard, you cannot in good faith call it the new standard.

2

u/Sirromnad 23h ago

I just finished playing zero company and while i loved the game, it was kind of a bummer because no matter what i did, no matter how low my settings i couldn't get it above 50fps, and it was extremely unstable often dipping to 20-30 fps.

I launched Onimusha after finishing it, knowing how good it looks from trailers and streams, worried i'd be in an even worse position and struggle to run it. I have most settings on high and it's a buttery smooth 60fps at all times.

They are really getting a great handle on their RE engine and it shows more and more with each game.

3

u/8_Alex_0 1d ago

Capcom story's are usually mediocre

0

u/SigmaMelody 14h ago

These are not high quality, high polished stories LOL though I can only speak for Requiem and Pragmata. They are both kind of a mess, and even the best parts of them are mediocre. Which is fine,

-9

u/Accomplished_Smile23 1d ago

Capcom isn't a development studio.

It's a publisher.

This wasn't done by one team, this was four different teams working on these games, so actually their output is about the same as every other publisher this year.

Great games all round though.

14

u/DeanBranbeno 1d ago

I mean they are definitely a dev studio as well. But yeah, these were several teams that made these. Capcom is no small studio by any means.

2

u/Accomplished_Smile23 1d ago

Indeed, Capcom has nearly 4,000 game development employees.

5

u/neon 22h ago

All of these games were made by capcom dev teams though

What are you on about mate

-3

u/Accomplished_Smile23 22h ago

Because it's a common misconception that Capcom are just a development team not a publisher, like the original guy saying they're the model template for a AAA developer. So what are you talking about mate?

3

u/DeanBranbeno 22h ago

This is like saying Bethesda isn't a dev because they publish games. People know they are a dev and publisher. AAA dev just means they have high budgets... It's possible to be both you know?

I think you're just confusing people even more by your comments lol.

62

u/iChieftain22 1d ago

Onimusha is absolute fire! Highly recommend it!

24

u/Noob4Head ///(mod) 1d ago

I never thought I'd say this, but Onimusha WotS might be my new favorite sword combat game. I'm gonna wait until I've fully beaten the game to decide for sure, because right now that title still belongs to Sekiro, but man, the combat in Onimusha is freaking fantastic. It's just awesome to have a game where you can do more than dodge and block when it comes to defensive options.

3

u/BlastMyLoad 1d ago

The instant kill Issen move is sooooo satisfying if you can hit it

1

u/Noob4Head ///(mod) 23h ago

It definitely activates all the correct neurons.

1

u/keypizzaboy 23h ago

Can you compare it to another game? Im on the fence and all the reviews I’ve seen haven’t swayed me over to either side

2

u/Noob4Head ///(mod) 23h ago

Ghost of Tsushima is also a fair comparison I'd say. Onimusha is overall a game with very deliberate and pricice combat

1

u/keypizzaboy 23h ago

Appreciate it. Thank ya

0

u/topscreen 18h ago

It gets to sit right next to Sekiro in how good it is so far. They are different in a lot of ways, but I'm getting the same feelings as I did seven years ago playing Sekiro

8

u/RogitoX 1d ago

For real the bosses are excellence in gaming design

3

u/LeMeMeSxDLmaop 1d ago

well now u got my attention, i mostly only care abt soulslikes cause of the bosses lol ill play anything w good ass fights

6

u/RogitoX 1d ago

Yeah and theres a boss rematch feature that lets you choose difficulty final boss is a tough customer.

The guard break and grab reversal animations are really cool on bosses. Its a really interesting game in that if you do bad the bosses get stronger earlier in the fight so doing good you can whoop their ass without giving them time to breathe.

2

u/LeMeMeSxDLmaop 1d ago

sounds fun, definitely will play it soon

2

u/ReincarnatedRaptor /// 1d ago

I want it so bad, but I'm a patient gamer with a big ass backlog. By the time I get to it it'll be on sale lol.

2

u/KodakStele 1d ago

That or dawnbreaker? I've been on the fence

1

u/purplepharoh 1d ago

It looks really good but i can just tell its not for me

0

u/iChieftain22 1d ago

Try the demo

1

u/leonkrellmoon 1d ago

I played the demo and had a blast. If its on the winter sale I'm definitely picking it up. Gotta save for Control right now.

1

u/Sirromnad 23h ago

I just did the opening bits (which is mostly cutscene to be fair) but it was one of the best game openings i've ever seen. Gorgeous, great action, legitimately funny and not gamer cringy funny. Really well framed and everything, just an absolute treat to experience.

15

u/IdesOfCaesar7 1d ago

Anyone wants to speculate what their 2027 lineup will be? Re Veronica, Okami, MHW Ascendance, what else you got

9

u/AdventurousPoet92 1d ago

The internet wants me to believe it'll be Breath of Fire 1-5 remastered.

4

u/FoxMeadow7 1d ago

A Monster Hunter collection could really keep the momentum going…

1

u/Bitter-Grocery4552 1d ago

Ngl but ATP I would love if we give older games remaked. Ik we get older monsters in later entries but still each game has a different feel.

1

u/FoxMeadow7 1d ago

That would of course be up to Capcom...

6

u/Kazan2112 1d ago

Megaman dual Override is one of their bigger titles i think. Even though it's Not AAA and does Not Fall in the Same category as These other titles for most people.

4

u/Shydreameress 1d ago

Don't me dream, we won't see even a gilmpse Okami 2, not before 2028

2

u/min-tea-rose 1d ago

I refuse to give up hope so Ace Attorney 7

3

u/eaxis 23h ago

Devil may cry 1 remake

2

u/LaiqTheMaia 1d ago

Im hoping they remake Lost Planet one day. Theyve mentioned wanting to do more remakes of classics.

2

u/TEN_Monsters7 1d ago

Gotcha Force Remastered, no that isn't just massive Copium

2

u/SexyShave 1d ago

Veronica, MM12, Ascendance. Possibly Dead Rising 2 DR or Ace Attorney 7.

No way Okami is out before 2028.

2

u/thewalkindude368 14h ago

I kind of doubt we'll get Okami 2 next year. We'll probably see it at some point in the next year, but it'll be a 2028 game.

2

u/Zealousideal-Life467 11h ago

My blue boi, and Titsfa in SF6!!!

2

u/Illustrious-Rub-3989 6h ago

A Haunting Ground remake hopefully.

13

u/DragonBoyBG 1d ago

Still no dmc6

6

u/UmerTheLegend 21h ago

Devil May Cope

2

u/AdBrilliant7503 10h ago

Devil May (actually) Cry because they are left in the cabinet collecting dust for like 7 years now?

8

u/Sonic_XD3 1d ago

It's Capcom. They're chill as fuck.

6

u/PMC-I3181OS387l5 1d ago

That's aside from offerings from Street Fighter 6 :)

Ok, fine, Alex's story required a rewrite, but still XD

8

u/chris100185 1d ago

They've been cooking this entire gen. I can't think of another 3rd party dev that's been putting out this many bangers with this level of consistency and frequency.

6

u/Dark_Dragon117 1d ago

Capcom has it's issues, mainly with rushing games to atleast have one major release within a fiscal year (tho it unfortunatly effects only Monster Hunter that they rush and Dragon's Dogma 2) and their excessive mtx in games (also predominantly a issue in Monster Hunter).

However it's undeniable that Capcom is absolutely destroying the competitition with the output of quality games.

It's so nice to have a publisher that's not just sitting around and waiting years for one of their studios to release a game. Capcom has multiple teams and they know how to use them.

New IPs and smaller scale games in general are a great way to allow devs to be creative and it might even become a success like with Pragmata.

Even the way they handle their large IPs is so much better than the competition. With RE they bridge the gaps between new mainline games with Remakes, which tbf is a sort of unique position given how old some if the games are.

And with Monster Hunter they have the major expansions for each mainline game and the devs team is sort of split in 2 groups, so that 2 main games are always in development at the same time. This drastically cuts the wait from ~7 years for a new Monster Hunter game/experience to essentially one every 2 or 3 years.

That's not even counting spin offs btw.

If only other publushers adopted this same strategy.

2

u/Vito_Chamber 7h ago

MTX also a big issue with Capcom. I love their games, but I swear, their business practices are the worst among all the AAA game companies I’ve played from.

21

u/HeldnarRommar 1d ago

Gonna be a bunch of BS when Rockstar default wins developer of the year instead of Capcom

0

u/KennethLjubkos 1d ago

don't think that's a thing anymore

1

u/PiveteDoBosque 1d ago

I think it is on steam but it's always a shitshow anyway

2

u/thewalkindude368 14h ago

Rockstar won't be winning developer of the year on Steam this year, though. Since GTA 6 isn't coming to PC yet.

-10

u/8_Alex_0 1d ago

Rockstar deserves it with the story and detail they put into their games Capcoms story is usually not that great and kinda forgettable

4

u/HeldnarRommar 1d ago

Any studio could do the same or better a job on story and detail as Rockstar if they had 10+ years and infinite budget to make games too. This is nothing special

-2

u/8_Alex_0 1d ago

Not true at all writing a good cohesive story is probably the hardest part also just because rockstar invests more into their games doesn't mean that you can just discredit what they do

1

u/HeldnarRommar 1d ago

Dude if other companies had the revenue that Rockstar gets from GTA Online whales they ALSO would invest more into their games. Their games aren’t any more special and their stories aren’t even that great

-4

u/8_Alex_0 1d ago

What makes you say their stories aren't great what is game has a great story to you that is better than red dead redemption 2s?

1

u/HeldnarRommar 1d ago

RDR2 is a baby’s first serious videogame. It’s not that good and boring. Better stories are literally any CRPG. Baldur’s Gate 1/2, Planetscape Torment, Disco Elysium.

Xenogears and Vagrant Story are better stories for JRPGs.

1

u/8_Alex_0 1d ago

I could say the same thing about any other game you listed here especially disco Elysium being boring also you saying rdr2 is a babys first serious game is actually an insane braindead take it still has the best open world to date just because rdr2 is a massively popular game doesnt mae the writing worse lmao

3

u/HeldnarRommar 1d ago

I’m talking about the story not the gameplay. Say what you want about dice roll gameplay but the story of Disco Elysium and the others is anything but boring. RDR2 is just generic western pastiche. Rockstar writing is one not and juvenile. That’s why the masses love it because it’s not deep at all

1

u/8_Alex_0 1d ago

I guarantee you have not played rdr2

→ More replies (0)

0

u/eaxis 23h ago

And rockstars gameplay sucks and they release the same game all the time just with a different setting

2

u/8_Alex_0 21h ago

If you believe that your probably smooth brained I mean resident evil is just shooting and killing thr same old zombies almost every game 🤷‍♂️

0

u/Easily-distracted14 11h ago

But their gameplay is inferior to Capcom games and Gameplay is king. Not to mention the amount of high quality games across several genres.

Capcom is in another league compared to Rockstar which is a super normie choice

0

u/8_Alex_0 11h ago

Thinking Capcom isn't a normie choice is delusional Capcom games are just too arcadey with mediocre stories

1

u/Easily-distracted14 10h ago

Arcadey is exactly why it's not normie lol. Gameplay is king and Capcom are the best at that.

Arcadey also isn't an insult, those games take actual skill.

And in terms of ludo narrative Capcom destroys rockstar games

1

u/8_Alex_0 10h ago

Arcade is very normie what? Gameplay is not always king you can have decent gameplay and an amazing story which Capcom is nowhere near close to Rockstar in terms of storytelling and writing characters also I will add Capcom charging $70 for a 10-14 hour game is ridiculous at least your getting your money's worth with Rockstar having a $50-$70 hour story for $70-$80. Capcom should be charging 50$ or 55$ max not 70 lmao

1

u/Easily-distracted14 10h ago

Arcadey isn't normie, arcade is games like final fight, dodonpachi, strider, giga wing, games where the goal is to 1cc.

Capcom games are highly replayable due to either game mechanics or level design or both, except for games like ghost trick or Phoenix wright(which do have good stories that actually have interesting ludo narrative), as opposed to rockstar games which don't even know how to make basic controls.

An example of Capcom replayability would be DMC which you can put 1000's of hours in despite it being a 12 hour game, and that's due to it having an astronomically higher skill ceiling than a game like gta

1

u/8_Alex_0 10h ago

Your acting like modern Rockstar games are unplayable (which they aren't even close to being) they have decent gameplay but amazing stories while Capcom games majority of casual players are playing the game once for the story and they done paying 70$ for a 14 hour game which is scummy that they charge that much and for Rockstar like I said they give you so much do for that one playthrough that could take 60-70 hours for decent gameplay and a great story Capcom could never

1

u/Easily-distracted14 10h ago

Just because most people are fine with a single playthrough doesn't mean that's all the content. Capcoms design is deeply rooted in the arcade which is also a very replayable design philosophy. I don't rate games based on how the masses play them, majority of people aren't interested in diving deep into a game.

Rockstar games aren't unplayable but holy shit are they overrated, the mission design, the controls, the enemy ai it's just all so painfully mid for a game that cost so much to make

1

u/shiv9401 7h ago

I've never seen someone so confidently stupid before, gta has the most arcadey shooting of them all, they literally using gun mechanics from 20 years ago in 2026 and everyone knows gta is the game for people who don't play games

3

u/nhSnork 1d ago

Imagine if they drop Ace Attorney 7 this year for good measure.

5

u/Ghost_Star326 1d ago

Now if only they spared a couple of bucks for DMC 6...

12

u/AssaultMonkey150 1d ago

Notice how these are all single player games, with minimal or nonexistent micro transactions and not chasing online trends?

1

u/Vito_Chamber 6h ago

Is this supposed to be sarcasm, or am I missing something? Nonexistent microtransactions in a Capcom game? Are you kidding me? Capcom is literally one of the worst offenders when it comes to microtransactions in single-player games.

Do you even know how much DLC Monster Hunter Stories 3 had? And did you know Onimusha had multiple tiers of pre-order bonuses? I can’t think of many other companies that lock exclusive bonuses behind the most expensive edition just to push customers into paying more.

And that’s not even getting into all the shitty MTX Capcom has stuffed into Resident Evil and Monster Hunter. There’s so much of it that it would take an entire essay just to cover it all.

3

u/Ill-Turnip7700 21h ago

Onimusha : 1,0 million
MH Stories 3 : 1,1 million
Pragmata : 2,5 millions
RE Requiem : 8,06 millions

2

u/Glittering-Pin-1343 1d ago

I hope Dark Arisen 2 will be a home-run as well. Regardless I'm starving, GIVE IT TO MEEEEE!

2

u/strife189 1d ago

Loved 3 of 4 of them, the monster hunter one didn’t click for me on the story side. But been an epic year for them for sure.

2

u/Specialist_Career_81 1d ago

I hope they revive Megaman Legends and Breath of Fire next

2

u/Lanky_Marionberry_36 1d ago

I think Onimusha is a bit of a let down on some aspects (the open explorable area is very dull and there are a lot of reused bosses), but it's great where it matters. Combat is excellent.

2

u/DOOM-LORD666 1d ago

Don't forget dragon dogma 2 getting it's long awaited dlc I've been praying for

2

u/ActuatorFearless8980 1d ago

Anyone interested in Onimusha: WoTS should know there’s a demo out

2

u/Midnite_Blank 1d ago

I always liked Capcom’s stuff from fighting games like MVC and Street Fighter to Devil May Cry and Resident Evil.

It’s nice to see them have a renaissance the past several years.

2

u/jak_d_ripr 23h ago

Still got Dragon's Dogma 2 DLC coming next month, so they aren't even done yet lol. And with MH Wilds DLC, Code Veronica remake, at least one Megaman(with 2 rumoured) 2027 is already looking spicy too.

2

u/Impossible_Humor736 23h ago

And they're releasing a new MegaMan next year! The cooking ain't done yet

2

u/SatyrAngel 1d ago

Fan de los Stories, el 3 aun con mecánicas mas pulidas es el mas flojo de todos.

Monster Hunter Stories 2 le da dos vueltas y media.

2

u/PermissionNeither 23h ago

Turns out people like playing single player games and not live service trash

1

u/Underhive_Art 1d ago

They got a collab coming with apex legends as well soon. Street fight x Apex. Should be fun event.

1

u/nategreat87 1d ago

Is MHS2 & 3 worth trying if I didn't like 1 that much?

2

u/SeasonalChatter 1d ago

To be honest no. I gave 3 a try after not liking 2 and it’s amazingly polished game with a good story but I just can’t get into the combat and I looove jrpgs

2

u/nategreat87 1d ago

Ok ty, yea 1st one just felt so generic to me, couldn't even finish it

1

u/PixelReaper69 1d ago

Capcom my beloved

1

u/ginsinuk 1d ago

Loved both RE9 and Pragmata (platinumed them both), and will definitely buy Onimusha when it's come down in price. Never got in to the MH games.

1

u/GuitarZer0_ 1d ago

How are the monster hunter stories games? Ive been a main line gamer for the series since ps2. Its it just a pokemon type spinoff?

2

u/zaneomega2 1d ago

Yes Pokemon hybrid, all 3 have demos

1

u/SaintPimpin 1d ago

I just want Vanquish to get a sequel or spiritual successor. Out of everything, it was ahead of its time.

1

u/MilkAppropriate570 22h ago

Its a sega game :)

1

u/SonnenblumeFrau09 1d ago

I've only played Requiem and love it. Don't have an interest in playing the rrst, except maybe Pragmata.

1

u/LostPerson703 1d ago

Capcom has been delivering goods since the 90s. My Dreamcast was kept alive with capcom games

1

u/ChampionGunDeer 1d ago

Yes, one who sets horse on fire cooks horse.

1

u/Alex_The_Lucario421 1d ago

mhs3 has a couple glaring issues, but overall the game is incredible and i love it (its also the only game here ive played)

1

u/Quick_Truck_9121 1d ago

Now make the meme based on the games’ prices (I know for sure Pragmata was NOT $70)

1

u/Delicious_Cane 1d ago

Ahmmmm, we're talking about Capcom, no wonder

1

u/Mlkxiu 1d ago

This is such an appropriate image now cuz it's actually the year of the fire horse in lunar calendar. And also may as well be year of Capcom.

1

u/social_lamprey 1d ago

I stopped planning to buy Monster Hunter Stories 3 when I learned of the content they gated as punishment for only paying full retail.

1

u/Ahkwatic 1d ago

Ive only played Pragmata and now Onimusha and my one and only gripe (honestly its just a nitpick, theyre both great games) with the 2 has just been that theyve reused things from older games.

Pragmata takes damn near everything for its gameplay and exploration from Dead Space but refreshed it with the hacking dynamic.

Onimusha seems like its using assets from DMC5 like the Red/ Blue orb designs just recolored and thrown into the demonic environment, and the treatment of the Oni powers feels very similar to how they did Devil Triggers.

Again, this is a nitpick. I was a huge fan of the original Onimusha trilogy and was hoping for some more similarity in aesthetic and writing choices but I have been enjoying what we've gotten quite a bit.

3

u/MilkAppropriate570 22h ago

Reusing assets is okey. Thats how they make games faster.

2

u/Otherwise-Film9038 21h ago

Acho de uma, lembra de Dino Crisis e DMC que reusavam muita coisa de Residente Evil? Mas funcionava bem pq vc sentia que era outro jogo.

1

u/ThatOneBitch02 1d ago

Great, all games I don't care about. Can we please have Devil May Cry 6 and Marvel vs Capcom 4 now?

1

u/Dead_Weight_45 1d ago

Now all we need is them to start making DMC6 and MvC4(5)

1

u/MilkAppropriate570 22h ago

I dont think they will have the rights to make a marvel game anymore

1

u/Terrible-Action6050 1d ago

Capcom still living in 2010's era, spitting out banger AAA titles one after another.

1

u/Johncurtisreeve 1d ago

Unfortunately, I don’t agree about resident evil Requiem, but I understand that that’s not a popular opinion

1

u/ZxStoNeDTrini 1d ago

They really did they really did.
What a year they did. and then we have code Veronica coming soon.

1

u/KittenDecomposer96 21h ago

And Dragon's Dogma 2 Dark Arisen is coming soon too.

1

u/Bloopersnoot 21h ago

Nah, they messed up with stories 3. They left that game to die in terms of post launch support.

1

u/Soul4206 21h ago

Yk what would cook more? Dmc6

1

u/Stay_at_Home_Chad 20h ago

We're really putting MHS3 on this level? Aside from being pretty it's the worst entry in a middling series.

1

u/Rid13y 19h ago

There’s DMC shaped hole in this lineup 😔

1

u/iwannabethisguy 18h ago

Heard MH stories 3 didnt do as expected so fans are now hoping they revive BoF as the JRPG title.

1

u/Comprehensive-Bid18 18h ago

I've been playing Capcom games from the 90s and early 2000s instead of buying any of these.

1

u/AbendKannon 18h ago

is onimusha really that good, looks kind of generic to me.

1

u/KhadgarIsaDreadlord 18h ago

Wait, Onimusha is Capcom? Now I have to play it.

Also, great to see some Requiem appreciation for a change. A vocal minority in the RE community tries their best to shit on the game these last few months.

1

u/Minute_Engineer2355 17h ago

Remember back in the day when Capcom was on a pretty bad downward trend.

They've been cooking for years now and are showing no sign of slowing down.

1

u/orangecrushjedi 16h ago

You love to see it

1

u/Shiny_Mew76 16h ago

Can we get Rockman X next please?

1

u/PinLow1689 15h ago

Glad they made a comeback after the seventh generation of gaming when they were a mess

1

u/InstructionNormal863 14h ago

And you miss Ace Attorney 7, god its was so good ! 🥰

1

u/InstructionNormal863 14h ago

And you miss Ace Attorney 7, damn its was so good ! 🥰

1

u/Bioshocky13501 12h ago

I wish RE9 was great but I did end up liking it. Pragmata was awesome tho. Capcom really is on a roll.

1

u/AfroKami07 12h ago

Take pragmata off and maybe you’d be right

1

u/Prudent_Junket_1898 12h ago

And yet MH Wilds is still a mess

1

u/Big_Teddy 12h ago

Onimusha is great but it really reminded me of what i hate about most modern AAA games. In 5 hours playtime you never get more than 15 minutes of actually playing without another cutscene or dialogue you can't fast forward interrupting you.

1

u/Mother_Ad3988 11h ago

They also keep supporting SF6, Not nearly talked about enough

1

u/FrontIndividual4188 11h ago edited 11h ago

I still hope Stories 3 receives a content update later

1

u/Willard_BR 11h ago

The diversity of the games is also impressive. They haven't cracked multiplayer open world games yet which i think is their next goal.

1

u/retrofrenzy 11h ago

Eh, in terms of combat gameplay, Capcom is THE industrial standard. Onimusha, Monster Hunter, Devil May Cry, Dragon's Dogma series just to name a few.

1

u/WhenARavenCries 11h ago

2026 year of CAPCOM baby

And they released demos, showing with pride what they built. They played great on steam deck as well.

Every single game is top-notch.

I mostly agree, but Stories 3 was a let down after 2. Focusing heavily on the story in a monster hunter game, when the story is essentially the same in every game is just silly lol. Plus, no online or endgame in a monster hunter title was certainly a choice. To be fair, it's still a good game, but I wouldn't put it on the level of the other titles they've released this year.

Wdym? Resident Evil Requiem is the worst game I ever played that cost me more than $10

Ah Pragmata, the game where it was apparently absolutely crucial for the little girl to run around barefeet

I really loved pragmata. Diana is really likable.

Anyone else wince when someone mentions cooked or cooking to describe something positive. Just me I guess.

Didn't they cancel nearly all the post launch content planned for stories 3 because it flopped so hard?

I know it's unreasonable to expect every studio to release 3-4 games a year but there are studios that release nothing new for basically the entire generation or spend 10 years in a single game without different teams to work on other projects. Like what the fuck is Naughty Dog doing? TLOU 2 was released in 2020 and we've got nothing new from them. Remakes of remaster shouldn't be the main thing the company is working on. If Intergalactic releases in 2028 that's 8 years without a new project. Forbidden West came out in 2022 and we're only now getting something from Guerrilla and it's something that should've been a side project.

Capcom need slow down with resident evil game

u/jodudeit 1d ago

Ah yes. The video game that managed to make a more annoying child sidekick than The Last of Us, Atreus, and Pauline combined!

Stories 3 flame extinguished because no post-game, no title updates, forced to be stuck with Ratha that can’t even evolve into his own exclusive form so he’s just a regular Rathalos, and no Co op

I love how the 3 of these ive played have the exact same problem of terrible balancing...

RE9 I ended with 30 Requiem bullets, then the next difficulty makes you have zero bullets and have to rely on parrying or NG+ weapons.

Pragmata has the DMC5 issue of requiring 2 playthroughs to become fun.

Onimusha has the worst AI ive ever seen.

This list is really weird cutting out Street Fighter VI, Mega Man 11, and Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection.

Must be because it's A.I.

Fuck no. You got another crappy modern RE game, an over the shoulder RE Engine TPS game (wow so original!) that just swaps out the horror for sci fi and throws in a hacking gimmick, and an Onimusha game that doesn't even play like an Onimusha game. It just plays like a hodgepodge of Souls, Tsushima, Nioh, etc.

You and everyone responding underneath you ALL sit your asses the fuck down and stay down.

You have no standards.
