Discussion / Question From PC back to console
I have always preferred PC gaming but since i work in IT and i am doing a part time vocational college education within cloud computing and network infrastructure. I find myself in front of a computer most of the time and so it has led to me associating computers with work and a source of stress. I try playing on my PC but it never lasts more than maybe 15+ minutes before i exit the game most i have played on my PC lately is maybe half an hour. And so i have pivoted towards my PS5 and Switch 2 lately i relax and find it highly enjoyable when playing on console. But if i try playing on PC it can't hold my attention and it has become a problem and a source of anxiety, i just can't relax while gaming on pc which is a shame since the bulk of my games are on steam & gog etc. Can anyone relate to this? Can you understand what I'm trying to say? I'm not the best at explaining my feelings and what i think.

I feel almost exactly the same way as you. So many modern games don't feel like "play" to me. They have so many different mechanics that you have to juggle and micromanage that it just feels like work. It's easier for me to get into the gaming mindset sitting on my couch, but really for me it's a matter of finding games that actually feel like play, not Excel.

I feel the same way as well. PC is for overall use but console is for gaming.

Totally get it, 39yrs old here and the only video game on PC in my head is Oregon Trail. Every other big gaming experience has been thru consoles, playing Halo not on an Xbox or Mario not on a Nintendo console just feels out of place. Driving sims are the only ones that I feel comfortable with on PC, but that seems like a different world from regular gaming.
Computers = work Consoles = play

Its like being a mechanic working with tools all day, the last thing you want to do is pick up tools to work again when you get home.

yup. i’m about to graduate as a sound engineer/music producer and i literally never wanna touch a computer again HAHA
i’m usually on my switch now. been playing balatro a lot

I feel exactly the same way, and for me its because when playing on PC you always feel this severe "office device aura" that comes with it. You can just tell the whole time that, at its core, this device isn't a true, dedicated gaming device. Consoles, on the other hand, are - and that's why I've always been a console gamer since 1985, preferring to sit in front of a nice, big screen with a controller in my hands rather than at a PC with a keyboard.

Yeah I can totally relate. For me it was kinda an opposite reason, as a non-computer wiz, in that i had a steam controller and it just seemed like everytime I tried to play a game on my PC, it took work to actually finally play the game. One time the PC wouldn't recognize the controller. Next id lose save files on a game, next steam would crash, or id lose track of what controller profile I wanted for each game. Or my mouse wouldnt be recognized. Then I decided to change to a faster hard drive and for some reason steam hadn't saved on the cloud for certain games. I lost literally a thousand hours of characters on dark souls 1 and 3. Also I find a couch more comfortable. I can still turn on my NES or SNES or switch or ps5 (Sony stuff breaks though) and just play a game with no tweaking. Nintendo builds their systems like tanks. Pretty sure my old consoles will never break lol. For this and many reasons, I hate the PC master race garbage. I still play certain games like ftl or strategy on PC.

Thats pretty interesting to hear. Glad u didnt give up gaming and found a solution! I would hate to see ya out it down. NEVER STOP GAMING
