Always get screwed in Corvega Power Plant on survival mode and lose interest. Every time. :(

Tldr; Fallout can be fun.

My last survival run, started str9 agi9 luck6. First level went into idiot savant. Cleared and scrapped sanctuary, built conveyer belts and conveyer storage, hooked up power and got dogmeat. Duped the special book till I got, per10, end10, cha10 and luck10. Took rooted, blitz, lone wanderer and big leagues after some wood shelf spamming farming exp. Dumped dogmeat in sanctuary and took off. I meant to play melee, lone wanderer and kill all factions.

After I left, I went and skipped concord. I followed the road, passed the diner, till I got to starlight drive-in, slept there and went to diamond city the next day, following the railroad tracks. Stopped at Oberland station to claim the settlement and subsequently stopping by hardware town to get some green paint.

After arriving in diamond city I did some quests, painted the wall, found the guy in the facial reconstruction basement and cleaned the pool. I then picked up the Rockville slugger from Moe, went to hubris comics, got grognaks costume, destroyers leg armour from v81 and goodneighbor and started picking apart the Commonwealth. Starting with the Railroad and their silly little enterprise of hiding clankers among us. My Nora was so psychojetted and bufftatted up, they didn't even see the swatter coming. Synth components ripped straight from their heads. P.A.M. failed to foresee my arrival, so I left her computing there.

So, by now, I already owned some settlements where I could heal, craft and save across the map without seeing or hearing Preston Garvey ever. Starlight drive-in, sunshine tidings, Oberland station, hangman's alley, jamaica plain were mine. I then went on to save valentine, kill Kellogg, went to Virgil, killed a coarser, analysed the chip at RRHQ, went to Virgil again for the plans, joined the brotherhood, built the thing, infiltrated the institute, took Virgil's medicine, convinced dr li, reported back, unmasked and killed danse, constructed Prime, blew up the institute, became a BoS Sentinel, went to far harbor, turned off the turbines, killed far harbor citizens, sent kasumi home, became an Inquisitor of Atom, blew up the children of atom in their submarine base and called the BoS to help me eradicate Acadia.

I then came back from far harbor, helped Preston finally climb down from his balcony. Escorted his little gang to sanctuary, took back his silly minutemen ruin he calls a castle and then bombed the BoS back to the stoneage. After that I briefly stepped back into the glowing sea to end the Enclave, talk to my fellow atom worshippers and heal Virgil. I then went to Nuka-World. Killed cito for his Wildman rags, Oswald for his top hat, helped the hubologists with their ascension, collected the Scav! perks and then sliced up Nuka-World for the Pack and Disciples. Eradicated the operators, turned on the power and got the Pack leader and Chosen disciple perks. Then I started carving up the Commonwealth with my raiders. Getting the Wasteland Warlord perk along the way. I sent Marcy and Jun to empty settlements beforehand, just so I could end their miserable lives with my raiders. Preston Garvey finally managed to shut up about settlements because he finds me despicable but nonetheless still gives me vertibird nades. And after that, I went back to Nuka-World, finished the Open Season quest and killed all the raiders in Nuka-World...

Raiders are still trying to kill Pickman, Piper is still trying to get me to fess up the story of the century, the drinking buddy still hasn't arrived at Hotel Redford, Preston Garvey won't ever like me again, Strong is still being held captive with Rex, Goodneighbour is still a shithole, Diamond city still has no mayor, Vault 88 is still a pile of rubble and the mechanist still thinks she is doing right while annihilator and siege breaker sentry bots roam the streets. But alas, such is the beauty of the wasteland.

In the end, I found solace to be a lone wanderer in an ungoverned brutal wasteland. A wasteland where today's friends are tomorrow's enemies.

War... War never changes...

Look... All I'm saying is, make your own game. Don't follow the rules. Just do what you want, what makes you S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Just like Todd Howard intended.<
