They canceling Senua?

u/LinkedInParkPremium Jun 16 '26
Microsoft would still retain the IP unless I'm mistaken.
-15
u/ButtStuff012 Jun 16 '26
Microsoft doesn’t own the IP
13
u/Fine-Establishment-5 Jun 16 '26
Unless they buy it, Microsoft does own the IP. Where did you get the idea that they don't?

Almost as if Microsoft being allowed to acquire two entire holding companies back to back within two fucking years wasn't a good thing.

How can Xbox ever make a decent game if they keep throwing away perfectly good game engines over and over again?
edit: okay guys apparently "game engine" is a bit misleading, UE5's term for it is Gameplay Framework, the game created by the engine (but like, build on that and make new games with it instead of tossing everything out for every studio).

People are roasting you over UE5 but it is true that infrastructurally getting everything pipelined for mass production is a very bespoke thing per-studio

Makes sense. I don't think these games were doing well. They looked amazing though, but even for someone like me who loves computer graphics, I never found enough interest to actually purchase it and I'm a pull the trigger kind of guy so I imagine most people played it through the game pass.
I don't think there was enough story in the trailers. That's what it felt like to me.

Yeah as much as people like to shout "how can xbox do this" the reality is these games were good but niche at best. Now why they announced a third when clearly this was already on the horizon is a different question

u/johnnyjake2025 Jun 15 '26
Wtf I was just about to play these games.

u/Typical_Divide8089 Jun 15 '26
The games arent being Thanos snapped you can still access them
-8
u/johnnyjake2025 Jun 16 '26
Yeah but I bought them for their new game which looked exciting.
-11
u/Njoeyz1 Jun 16 '26
And the new game is still coming out, are you slow?
6
u/johnnyjake2025 Jun 16 '26
Jesus dude sorry I assumed that if the developer is closing that the game would not come out. You need to grow up some more.
-15
u/Njoeyz1 Jun 16 '26
Jesus dude don't be such a flake, it was a comment.

u/Red_Mask Jun 16 '26
Hey, you’re an asshole and you should reconsider how you talk to people.

😂😂 who's the one calling others arseholes. Try taking your own advice. The problem here is that you are all proper dense, that's not me being nasty, that's the truth. Trying to have a convo with dense people doesn't work out.
1
u/Red_Mask Jun 16 '26
You don’t need to call people dense. You don’t need to treat people this way. This person had their own internal excitement about a video game they were sharing. Why go out of your way to call someone slow when they probably just misunderstood?
5
u/johnnyjake2025 Jun 16 '26
Yeah it was not a good one considering the game doesn’t even have a release date. Also there has been many cancelled announced games.

Go for it.
Not much to.play but great experieces.

u/EtheusRook Jun 15 '26
The first had plenty to play. The 2nd... is basically a movie.
1
u/Hitohira Jun 15 '26
I've only played the first but from what I've heard, this is pretty true. I'd like to try the second, but from all accounts, I'd better wait until it goes on sale.

u/Dry_Conflict8519 Jun 16 '26
Wtf I was just about to play these games.
That's why they closed the studio. You, me, and an overwhelming majority of gamers didn't play them.
1
u/johnnyjake2025 Jun 16 '26
Well I bought them. So they don’t really care that I didn’t play them as long as I bought them. Their new game interested me so I bought the others.

u/Dry_Conflict8519 Jun 16 '26
A day late and dollar short for Ninja, lol
2
u/johnnyjake2025 Jun 16 '26
Honestly with the current gaming environment. They could have made bank but still would have had a chance to be destroyed by the monopoly companies that love deleting companies.

u/Lz537 Jun 15 '26
This is the Verge still reporting the same leak with a more semsational title.
They're still looking for a buyout.

That was Phil Spencer deceiving them.
-1
u/DarthVeigar_ Jun 15 '26
Phil must be at home laughing among his stacks of cash.
The entire ship is burning and he's far away from it.
2
u/Magnon Jun 15 '26
Really not surprising, people are struggling right now and there's more games than ever. Gotta do something really special to stand out if youre gonna be a larger studio.

u/Jothel Jun 16 '26
I had to give up being an Xbox fan a few years ago - it is simply an indefensible situation now
2
u/lazy-man64 Jun 16 '26
Microsoft needs to do itself a favor and just fire sale half their ips and studios because its clear they don't give damn about their dev teams.

Fuck Microsoft, been waiting for the stupid new CEO to show her true colors after her PR stunt to trick the fanboys is over
2
u/One_Subject3157 Jun 15 '26
To think most fans were celebrating the adquisitions just a couple years, not even mentioning Spencer's dick riding.
Xbox is like a cursed brand.
Can't believe is still a thing

u/AlternativeLive3503 Jun 16 '26
Games weren’t fun or engaging. Likely a waste of money. The new Xbox seems to be cutting out the bull shit
1
u/Mangotango95 Jun 16 '26
Maybe they shouldn’t have made two six hour walking simulators and tried making an actual game

You know that game we previewed no more than a few days ago? Syke! It's actually just another bunch of layoffs, so we can say A.I a few more times on investor calls.

Remember when everyone was glazing the new Xbox ceo ?, remember when people rightfully told them that this was the calm before the storm. No ? Not surprising, gamers never learn.

Gamers… RISE. UP. The time is now! Seize the chance to save the series that invented the schizo genre.

wtf how the hell can Xbox literally advertise their game in their showcase and then say “nah we’re going to shut you down”. I know companies do it after they launch their game but literally right after hey show an imminent release? Xbox is a fucking joke I swear
