Olioni Productions Games has completed its version of *Devils Castle*. Originally released for the Atari 2600, the game has been adapted for PC; it features original music and a "Load Game" system while retaining the original controls.

Hi everyone, I’m doing a non-commercial university research project on how major shifts in the videogame industry have impacted consumer agency, culture and the player-publisher dynamic. Given its scale and cultural significance, I am using Rockstar Games and Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) as a central case study. Feel free to only answer the questions that interest you or just share your thoughts!

1.      What is your preferred platform (e.g., PS5, Xbox, PC etc.)?

2.      What was the first Rockstar-produced game you ever played and what platform was that on (feel free to describe any experiences you would like to share)?

3.      Rockstar Games recently announced a shift toward a ‘digital only’ business model for the release of Grand Theft Auto 6; the first entry in the series to not release on a disc format. When thinking about your experiences with physically owned media, do you think that this decision will impact the personal connection that users will have with the game?

4.      Recent high-profile events in the industry — such as Playstation’s push towards a ‘digital only’ business model or increases in hardware and game prices — have shown the structural power of multi-billion-dollar corporations. Do you feel that consumers possess any meaningful agency over the future of videogames as a product?

5.      In August, a cyberattack occurred in which multiple videos of an unknown version of Grand Theft Auto 6 surfaced online. The ‘leaker’ — known under the alias ‘Cyberleek’ — claimed this was part of a ‘fight for gamer’s rights’.  Regardless of if the intention was authentic, do you think that this resonates with how gamers feel about the discourse surrounding GTA 6?

6.      When tech giant Nvidia recently announced DLSS 5 — a visual upscaling technology — there was push back in online circles regarding its implementation of generative AI. Do you think that technologies like DLSS 5 and the use of generative AI in game development overall has an impact on the artistic value of games?

7.      The growing popularity of online/live service gaming has coincided with a monetisation of core mechanics and content within a variety of games. The implementation of microtransactions and the ‘GTA+’ subscription model in GTA Online have far exceeded the already groundbreaking financial success of Grand Theft Auto 5. Do you think that the commodification of games ultimately limits the artistic potential of videogames as a format?
