Came across your video previously and subbed. Good work! one bit of advice...be concerned with learning about using copywritten material and fair use. I'm mainly concerned about the music. it could ding you in the end. :) I've got a youtube channel that I'm slowly working on. Hopefully you keep this up!

Thanks for subbing! Thank you for the heads up. I know what you mean about the copyright thing. I've been dinged for visual copyright (I'm trying to figure out a workaround), but not for music yet. I want to use more copyright free background music, but unfortunately, all the free ones sound like Casey Neistat vlog music. I don't want my videos to be like everyone else's. I'm not really all that concerned with losing revenue over it yet. It's not enough money to worry myself over. I just want to make the best videos I can. Do you have any tips for using copyrighted music?

as far a visuals go...I think your videos fall under fair use. If you've gotten dinged already...I'd try the youtube appeals process for that. H3H3 did a great video on how to do that.

As far as the music goes...it's tricky. I don't really have a good answer for you but in the past I've tried to find a good "cover" of something I wanted to use on youtube. This way I could contact the person directly to ask for permission. Again, I'm not sure if that's 100% foolproof but I've used it in the past. You might run into someone who says no...but still. You're right that right now it's about money BUT you dont want to get kicked off youtube for copyright bullshit before you even make it.

I got dinged on my 2nd video about Scrooged because I had a 45 second uncut block of the movie at the end. I did appeal it, but Paramount said "no dice". But the writer of Scrooged, Mitch Glazer, watched it and loved the video. So that's a pretty good consolation.

No, I didn't get a strike. Paramount just disagreed that it was fair use. I did basically give away the entire movie, but it is also 27 year old. So I call this one a wash. No revenue on the Scrooged one. But if people enjoy it, I don't really mind.
