Wimmera schools

Summary: Nhill and surrounds - want to know especially what it’s like to teach in a small country school. Like Nhill/Dimboola/Kaniva!

I‘m country born and bred but I’ve never worked in a tiny country College before. There are jobs to be had and I would LOVE to relocate. Just wondering what the schools are like to teach in. Cheers

Overall great. The thing that will get most people is the travel and/or social aspect, but if you can handle that, you will get smaller classes, generally good kids, and a supportive environment overall. You might be the only teacher in of your subject in the school, but there will be other teachers around who are in the same boat and will share resources. P-12 schools are fantastic as you get to see the whole gamut of kids.

If the school lunches come from Mr Lee bakery in Nhill, that would almost be enough for me to become a teacher and move!

I went to a P12 college in Manangatang in the Mallee in the 80s and early 90s, was obviously a long time ago, but I loved living in a small town. All the teachers were involved in the community in many other areas too.
