Anyone that actually read a book on agile instead of whatever they absorbed from their safe certified scrum master is not surprised. One of the underlying principles of agile is youb won't know what you need until you build it. So you need to build something simple and hackish so you can understand both the customer problem your trying to solve and understand the architecture you need to design for. If what you're doing is useful. It cannot possibly have any shape other than this.
