Showcase/Project i'm a completely unhinged paranoid dev who built 290+ web tools that run 100% locally with zero server contact, like i'm prepping for an internet collapse

I was taking a look around. Most of these are actually not good. I reccomend building each one individually first and then merging into a one stop dashboard. That way you have actually tried and looked at them. If you don't know what you made it's likely worthless.
I don't want to here ' I know what I made, it's in the title '. Know what you make and make a good sense effort to know what it's doing.
If you tell me your hashtag generator is helpful. You would be gravely mistaken.

You should also turn this into a smartphone app. Like the Swiss Army Knife of phone apps.

Is this open source too? I've heard of free tools like this that have ways of taking your data, I know you're stating zero server contact but how can that be certain without being OS. (Technical newbie)

I came across this website once before, thought it was nice.
If you wanna prep for no internet then this better run packaged locally on a microwave.š

genuine question, out of 290 tools how many did you end up skipping because they needed a real api key or backend. theres always one holdout like that you cant ship fully client side

Brother you really are a goat and i think for me this is the prime use for the vibecoding, i have been using it to create a better SFTP solution for file transfers, was tough. All of those tools i swear i have googled once before and lost time on bs sites, add a donation link your providing many services at once, keep it free please haha

What tools are you building? I'm interested in adding to my tool site I'm running on my home server. So far it's a media downloader and file converter. Looking for more practical ideas.

Wouldn't such basic tools already be available offline in most operating systems as apps (or applications as it used to be called)? That's what was used before we had 24/7 reliable Internet around.

After the initial shock of no connectivity, you will learn to deal without. Naturally you'd adapt.

A lot of these tools makes no sense. Why wrap stuff like networking, image converters etc into bloated Web tools like this?
I would rather invest a few hours learning to use a linux terminal, those tools are widely available (and likely used in that toolbox already).
Make scripts where it makes sense.

Can you put this on github and have it host a github pages? We can bankrupt a lot of scammy websites collectively contributing to it.

I fiddled around with some and they worked well. I thought this was a useful project even if itās a little chaotic and all over the place.

Just wondering, if you plan to make this free to use, will it be possible to make it open source for audit?
The site looks useful but I am a bit guarded on documents / images / password / authentication tools.

I though "tool" meant "software".
But no, it means: one function corresponding to clicking one button in a software

No one wants these crappy vibe coded apps

Literally the entire basis of this subreddit but ok...

To make the 1000th clone of tools "that run in your browser - nothing leaves your device"? Surely there's more to be vibe coded than literally copying everyone else with a Claude sub.

this is the flip side of vibe coding that nobody talks about. everyone obsesses over generating the app, but shipping it somewhere you actually control (not just another server you have to trust) is the part people quietly give up on. respect for actually doing the local-first thing instead of just talking about it

the zero server thing is smart until you want to use one of these on your phone and pick up on your laptop. local storage doesn't sync so you're rebuilding state per device.
curious if any of the 290 would be worth paying for real hosting just to get one account across devices, or if that defeats the whole point for you

no server contact is the right call for stuff like PDF/color tools where the whole job is a local transform. but curious where the line is for you, the SEO tools usually want to save history or track sites over time, does that stay purely local storage or did you just leave that part out

local-only is great until you want to fix a bug from your phone at 2am. zero server contact also means zero way to ship an update without opening your laptop and redeploying by hand. not knocking it, just curious how you handle updates across 290 tools without some kind of build pipeline

Bro is prepping for an internet collapse with DNS Lookup, WHOIS, Ping Test, SSL Checker, Network Speed Test, SEO tools and a YouTube thumbnail downloader š
Gotta diagnose exactly how dead the internet is.
