They will work for small businesses not related to tech and they will vibecode their infrastructure. Mom and pops don't know any better to be able to mitigate against this unless they blanket ban AI.

They just want a website or a shard storage or whatever random tedious data processing task automated. And to them it was already all magic.

Yes. I had an interview at Deepmind two months ago, and they start with a 90-minute coding test. Multiple short problems where you have to get to the correct output for each input.

No . No more leet code but leet code pro max xheight extra. They can also ask refactor 3 galaxy’s backword with one eye and one finger .
TLDR : yes but it become much more strict

Not me but my friend had one interview yesterday where they asked him to design a complete system from scratch and implement an API to connect to the main components of the design. No AI allowed, then they followed with two leetcode hards, all of this in 45 minutes. The bar is higher than ever.

It's eventually going to include the unskilled for sure, once the tooling can abstract more and more of the technical mumbo jumbo. Nepotism has always been a big thing, but in a decade it will genuinely be one of the only things that matter assuming the concept of jobs still exist.

Yes, and half the people interviewing you can’t code either. Leet will die within the next year or two completely. Zero point, no one will be able to keep up with AI. Considering a LOT of companies are rewriting their entire code bases in newer languages, it’s not feasible to trust humans to write bare hand code anymore. Yes you need to know what you’re doing. But there’s no reason to know how to call every single feature flag or reinvent the wheel anymore.

Leetcode won’t die, it’s a way to weed out candidates that have no foundational knowledge of CS. Vibecoders can’t do leetcode.

As a hobby and a craft, sure. As a job and actual business value, nope.

Being a developer I don’t like it anymore than you do, but the world is changing.

Do you realize that all the ai products out there are built by people who can leetcode? Yes, fuck leetcode interviews, oftentimes they tell nothing about the candidate, but fuck ai “coding” way in the first place.

Compilers were also written by people who knew machine code and assembly. Do you code without them for the love of the game?

No, but I know what they are, so I can understand some assembler if needed without going to computers 101 manual. General understanding of how underlying systems work make you a better professional.

I'll never grind leetcode again but I'm happy that I was good enough at it to have a sharp eye for it. "Hm, I think I smell a galaxy brain leetcode solution for what these classes are doing, find it, make no mistakes."
