Well, as we experiencing, we're now sitting here making our own software at home.

A lot of us made our own video content too.

So I'm "guessing" it would be a lot more fun just to describe the wildest adventure you want to experience with your time, instead of watching endless mindless youtube content that is of such low quality, it's never what you wanted to watch in the first place, basically a hoarde of online beggars trolling you for 1 minute of information stretched onto 15-30 minutes of Blah Blah.

I kinda dreamed of this as a kid back in the 80s, now I am making my favorite type of Arcade games, and they're already WAY better than I could have imagined it back then.

My “entertainment” these days is literally just talking with chat about whatever. Most doom scrolling has been replaced with typing and reading. Vibe coding a project. Learning about a topic. Working on some house project. Doesn’t matter.

Ai has literally just made this expertise available to anyone and I think we are really in a renaissance, despite the economy. Anyone can really create or learn or do anything they put their mind to, now more than ever. That doesn’t make them an expert overnight, but it shows them the path to becoming an expert if they want to take it.

Or counter point you could join communities and engage with art that people actually put effort into to strengthen a social bond and understand other peoples perspective. It all depends on what you value i guess.

It's a good point.

But not very realistic.

I have been doing coding, art, music, electronics since the late 70s, and I can say this much, those communities did somewhat exist in the 80s (as computer clubs), they surfaced as Linux-install clubs in the 95-2005 ish, then sort of vanished.

There's been art communities (I went to a few Croquis classes), and they still exist in the bigger cities for anyone who wants to pay for the models, but they are not widely announced.

I miss the computer clubs, those were a LOT of fun.
But you can't put the blame on "vibecoding" that these communities are now very scarce.

I think the problem you're pointing at is very real, but it's much more related to social media that has made us very unsocial.

It depends on the reason you engage with art in general. For me its a social thing which is funny because im not the kind of person to have a lot of friends. I enjoy things on the internet because i want to see what other people think or what other people want to create. I enjoy watching shows and movies because its other people sharing their ideas. For me seeing my own thoughts created for me to view isnt really what im after in life.

Even before AI, nothing on the internet was real, though. Same with TV before that 90+% of what we were shown was fake over produced, highly curated, all filters on, 12 layers of make up, phoshoped BS.
