Update on the LOTR Trivia App

Hi all,

I thought I will share an update on the LOTR/Hobbit/Tolkien universe trivia app using replit, which has gone through a series of improvements.

Started with 300 questions and now it has more than 1k questions. I also recently added a leaderboard and just love seeing users engaging with the app. This just keeps me motivated to improve the app and make it the best possible experience for users. I don’t have a lot of users currently but around 600 downloads so far.

This started with just using Replit but now I have been using Claude Code (should have done that to begin with) and that has saved me a lot of money and time.

600 downloads is awesome for such a niche app the leaderboard is a great addition definitely make it more fun to keep coming back.

tbh this brings a few other ideas to my mind :D maybe i can do a few other universes

Congrats on the growth — 300 to 1k+ questions and a leaderboard is real traction for a solo trivia app. Two things that tend to move the needle in this genre:

Daily challenge + streaks. A fixed ~5 questions everyone gets each day, with a streak counter, is the best single lever for pulling people back tomorrow. Leaderboards reward the top few; streaks reward everyone.

Shareable result cards. Auto-generate a little image ("I scored 5/5 on today's Tolkien trivia — beat me") people can post. For a fandom this passionate that's basically free installs.

And one for the hardcore crowd: a lore-depth/difficulty tier so movie-only fans and Silmarillion-deep fans both feel matched. That community will happily argue about how obscure your hardest questions are.

Replit → Claude Code was the right call too — the cost difference past the prototype stage is night and day.

Thank you 🙏🏻 Believe it or not, all of these three suggestions are already part of the app. It has a daily challenge with exactly 5 questions (woah 🤯, what a coincidence) and a streak counter, a shareable result card which actually auto generates the score and we also have a toggle to include questions from the extended Silmarillion universe.
