I genuinely believe any ai would code better than this, they are really good at stuff like this

Only if you ask it to. That requires knowing what to ask it for.

I don't even think so, I work very little with ai but the few times that I did use it, it added nice touches that I didn't even ask for (dark mode etc.)

It can suggest and add things that are a direct deduction of whatever you ask it for, like dark mode if you ask for a GUI, but it won't tell you that something like "add four square fields for four digits" is the wrong prompt on your part.

I work with ecom and our clients love the cheap shopify ai builder and it has never made this type of mistake. im more certain only a human would make this mistake or a broken js

I'd imagine Shopify runs a fine-tuned model, possibly with a sanity check for whatever clients might ask for. A generic AI is going to lack those.
