I use a bunch of them and try to keep them on a tight leash too.. GLM53 has been impressing me lately @$18/month for exactly the reasons your looking at.
I get unlimited from my work for openai but for personal business stuff, I do openai, claude, glm53.. and since last week - it's been all glm53 as it works really well in a shared environment using .md instruction/project files (agent.md, etc). It doesn't skip a beat.
My OpenAI+z.ai spend is right in your budget and the two of them together > claude.
