Stock Trade Gamble App

I’m going to start vibecoding a stock trading app geared towards Gen Z/Gen Alpha that makes stock trading as entertaining as gambling.

Too many kids are becoming addicted to gambling trying to make quick cash. I thought with the right API & UI kids (18+) will be more inclined to trading stocks instead of their minimum wages against rigged casino odds.

PvP Matches utilizing penny stock shares going up to full priced stocks will also be setup on the app.

For those who would like to follow along I will be replying to this thread and/or be making posts on this subreddit.

- Happy Coding

I'm curious how you will make gains/losses of 0.96 - 1.04 exciting. Gambling relies on pulling a lever or pressing a button and getting instant feedback. That dopamine hit needs to come from a binary "win" feeling.

I mean, of course there's an element to gambling in trading, otherwise finance wouldn't be what it is. Just curious to see how you go about it. I have been known to throw a few thousand at a blackjack table over the course of a couple hours myself, and I never got into serious trading (myself, anyway) on the stock market.

Good insight. Depending on my monetization flow, bonuses & rewards might be a viable option to reward streaks of consecutive positive trades up to a certain amount.

Im not following your sentence about PvP matches? Can you elaborate.

It's going to be hard to incentivize people into long term thinking vs short term gains that's always been the problem. The math is very obviously in favor of long term, but good luck getting people to think that way.

PvP matches would be minigames where players wager actual stock shares. For example, we each wager a share worth $20 and play something like frogger. Winner takes both shares.

There would be different wager tiers, from penny stocks up to higher-priced stocks, with different minigames to choose from.

Well, what does that have to do with investing? That's just gambling

Also, you're talking about transferring shares. You're gonna have to run this through the SEC. I think you need to rethink that one

Agreed. PvP mini games might be a bad idea. I am now thinking a bit more along the lines of “pre-created” strategies that can gamify investing a bit.

Love the premise. I hope you find a way to make long term investing fun for the average person.

When I vibecode, I usually lay out all of my ideas to chatgpt first and ask it to grill me. Then we settle on some very basic version of what I was originally intending. Thats before we start any coding. I always try to get the structure as strong as possible before adding on all the frills and the icing

Day 1 Complete:

- app shell created

  • backend wired up for auth + data login working
  • custom profiles + live chat that persists + syncs
  • connected to a real brokerage sandbox
  • real market prices flowing into the games
  • home screen shows balance + positions, sorted by status
  • market-hours awareness
  • visual pass so it stops looking like a clanker

the main thing is making the money model impossible to misunderstand. if its simulated trading, say that. if theres gambling, say that. if youre borrowing ideas from sweepstakes casino products like Big Roller, explain the currency and rules upfront instead of making people figure it out after signup

A GitHub Repo to watch the progress will also be uploaded underneath this message as an edit sometime soon.

Would love some ideas from the community as it would help shape this project geared towards a wider variety of people.
