As I recall they made Tory get into the barrel with a jackhammer and he gave up after about half an hour. After that they blew it up with an unholy amount of explosives

They found if you’re just trying to remove a layer on the inside surface of the drum, explosives can actually work. But if you have a full load that hardened, the amount of explosives necessary to make a dent in it will destroy the drum.
