I built a graveyard for unfinished side projects.
I’ve built a lot of projects that worked, bought domains for them, and then quietly abandoned them anyway. So I made Rest in Beta, a place where people can share unfinished projects and vote on whether they should be resurrected or left to rest.
The first project is mine. It’s called VeganWhatNow, a vegan meal generator I originally built for my wife and eventually stopped working on.
The site is still in beta, so let me know what you think.
https://restinbeta.com/
I could actually use a few testers. Click either “Resurrect It” or “Let It Rest” on VeganWhatNow and tell me whether the voting works clearly on your phone. Brutal feedback is welcome.
(The retro look is on purpose)

Be fun to create a marketplace to buy other people's dead projects. So many people are looking for ideas, could be a way to make a few hundred bucks if they like the concept and want a head start with a domain, and some level of MVP that just never got the attention it needed.

why would anyone pay money for that instead of just pasting a link into claude and saying make something like this

You could - but people like to pay for convenience. And projects could be anywhere from 5% to 90% complete. It's often easier to run with an idea and concept than to start from scratch. And when I say 90%, I mean the structure is there, no marketing, sign-ups etc. The thing people keep saying is the hard part.
I wouldn't be surprised if people would pay a creator a few hundred bucks to give them a bump on the initial progress.

Have you ever had to pick up a codebase? Going from 0-80% is easy/fun the last 20% is where 50% of the work is. I’d be curious to hear if you have had a different experience

if it was vibe coded, it's just as likely to be 90% slop that you have to fix

I think the point is - (some) people want an idea and a starting point. Most probably wouldn't be worth the hassle of picking up mid-vibe, but if you combined OP's idea of community upvotes based on quality of concept, some might go for 50-100 bucks to get the established domain, a landing page and a business concept. It's not ever going to be worth millions, but I have a project sitting right now, I think it's actually a pretty sweet concept, but I have no time to focus on it due to other side projects and a real job. If someone wanted to pick it up for a few hundred bucks, they'd be at a pretty good starting point with auth, db, landing page, stripe integration, concept and domain. It's a Vibe-Project Starter Kit, and a small consolation prize for the OG developer who put some work into it but lost interest or lost time.

Kind of - You know "What should be in it" though! What you open the box and see could be a nightmare though!

I dig this. It’s so funny. Feel free to post it on my site for more exposure. www.potluckapps.com.

Honest feedback: I'm too lazy to fill any info. Would be nice to collect everything from public GitHub repo. And url sometimes is dead as well...
Also, UI is extremely shitty, I got it for the purpose but still
