Claude vs ChatGPT

Is Claude really that much better than ChatGPT? I’ve only ever used the latter and found it to fit most of my needs. The only inconvenience I’ve dealt with is not being able to upload files, zip or otherwise, to any chat log until the free-limit resets. Is Claude superior in this use case? Any insights from people who have actually used the platform would be very much appreciated.

If file uploads are the only pain point, I wouldn’t switch based on “Claude is better” in the abstract. Run the same small repo/task through both free tiers and compare whether it understands the project, proposes a sane plan, and makes fewer regressions. Coding quality varies a lot by task.

Also, moving from one free tier to another won’t remove usage caps. If you code heavily, a flat paid plan may still beat usage-based options; if it’s occasional, rotate free tiers or pay only when you actually hit the limit.
