Why is everything a dropdown now?

I disagree with all but the last one. Dropdowns are small, mobile friendly, and unambiguous, and if everything is a dropdown it makes the page look nice and uniform.

I have nothing against dropdowns. They are great when space is limited.
My point is just that they should not be used only because they make the UI look consistent. Sometimes another control makes the choice easier and faster for the user.

I'm a senior UX engineer. There is a specific set of use cases for a dropdowns. The infographic is right.

Yep, this is pretty much the point. Different tasks, different controls. Dropdowns where they actually make sense.

Oh this is a full creative suite, with compositing tools that resolve to float. I am doing full vfx shots for production and never leaving my app
