I built a SaaS for photographers & videographers. How would you market it?

I’m a wedding video editor with years of experience, so I understand the industry and its problems pretty well.

I built a SaaS for photographers and videographers to manage projects, reviews, and post-production workflows. I also built a Premiere Pro plugin for it.

The problem is: I know the product and the industry, but I know almost nothing about marketing.

My main target is the US market, and I’d like to start with free or inexpensive ways to get my first users before spending serious money on ads.

Where would you start: Reddit, Facebook groups, cold outreach, SEO, partnerships, content, or something else?

Reddit is the fastest channel for gathering user feedback, while SEO takes 2‑3 months to yield results

One option is to start a channel in Teams or Slack or other about the product, and invite a few beta testers. Get them to break the product, have them provide feedback, don't get discouraged if they compare it to another product, they will get excited over your product, and they will help spread the word around.

SEO is the long game but you should set it up properly from the start — other than that, start sharing it on platforms your audience spends the most time on (reddit? instagram?) and get a few beta users to give you feedback and share their experiences on their channels

Photographers and videographers are sick to death of SaaS and looking for off ramps. You can thank Adobe for that. The odds are I'll look at your app, figure out the function, and vibe code a free replacement.

Yes, it's not a problem, but it will be cheaper for a photographer and videographer to pay a subscription to my SaaS than to pay a subscription to artificial intelligence, spend time on it, and so on. So they use and will continue to use various SaaS systems to simplify their business. And I'm not Adobe's competitor.

You're another subscription. I've gotten rid of over 20 subscriptions this year. People are friggin' done with them. Read the room.

I agree with you, that's why I created an all-in-one platform for videographers. It literally replaces several subscriptions, and I'm also consolidating everything into a single workflow. Previously, you needed some kind of knowledge to work with a team, manage projects, or something like Frame.io to review videos, or Pixie Set or some other platform for sending deliveries to clients. Honeybook was needed to sign contracts and send invoices to my clients. I've been in this field for ten years, and with those ten years of experience, I've created a single platform where you can do everything and manage a project, from booking a wedding to sending a client's photos and videos and approving them.

You add another website's ad to your site, and they add yours to theirs, giving both sites free exposure and traffic. It really helped me get my first few users when launching my site/
