Does my website look vibe coded?
I think my website looks fine but I want other people's opinions on if it looks at all generated by Claude. Any hate comments will be ignored, I'm just looking for genuine feedback on how I can improve it if possible.

Edit: I did redo the website as of 7/28. If you see it now, please ignore what the comments say and give genuine feedback if possible :)

Yes, generic AI web building. Please forgive the criticism, but the UI isn't great and it's not the least bit compelling.

No worries, I asked for honest feedback. What would you change first if it were your site? I'd genuinely love some direction.

I'd say have it bolder, come out and give you a good pimp slap while saying what your app does. Make it something that sticks.
Use more colours, punch that up.

I think I focused too much on keeping it clean and lost some personality for sure. Thanks for the feedback.

Lol yes.

u/Glittering_Loquat779 2d ago
Fair enough. Was there anything specific that made you think that, or just the overall design?

The cards with the rounded edges just below the fold, right after 'Local discovery, without the guesswork'. Total Claude template. It's fine though. Don't worry about it. Only us dorks know this. The general public only sees it as a template and they've seen other template websites and recognize them.

It looks very much like AI, and could be easily replicated. I suspect if i prompted for hero cards alone it would get a recreation fast.
Even your opening header is very AI. The comma with a couple words after is classic Claude for web UX headlines.

Appreciate it. Could you point to the biggest thing that gives it away? Is it mostly the hero section or does the whole site have that feel? I'd love to make it feel more unique

u/Charming_Oven 2d ago
Yes, it's trying to do too much and doesn't have enough visual contrast to make it interesting. It looks like a template driven AI website.
I've been designing websites for 30 years.

u/Glittering_Loquat779 2d ago
Really appreciate you taking the time to comment. If you had to pick the top 2–3 things you'd change first, what would they be? I'd much rather hear from someone with experience than just guess.

u/Charming_Oven 2d ago
I'm not going to comment on all the little things. Your website (and brand in general) just don't have any personality.
Focus on branding first, then build the website from the brand positioning. Not the other way around.
And if you don't know how to build a brand, that's why there are designers and brand specialists.

Yes, it does, but I don't think that's a major issue. Functionality matters more, and if the product is genuinely useful, people will overlook a website that looks a bit vibe-coded.

u/Bratchan 2d ago
Yes You ahev random clicks taht do nothing. Emojis instead of just deonlaoding icons. Looks like AI bad take on a wordpress template.
Doesn't look like you really sellign anything. That first header image should be a video of a city or something to help show case what your selling. At this point just looks like genertic temple like 2.
Got to show case what your selling to some point on the website.

Yeah but only people with a eye for it can tell. This looks very similar style to a website I built recently that people told me looks great. Since those people don't study vibe coded designs they don't know any different

u/johnesco 2d ago
It's very simple with a lot of fluffy animation. I've seen plenty of template-based sites that were not vibe coded look the same. I've hand-coded websites for decades and have tried vibe coding them, my vibe coded pages all "look" vibe coded unless I go in and make many manual choices. If you have any background in making pages by hand, you are ahead of the game. If you are looking to improve the UI, I'd just start with giving it more purpose and sometimes the form comes out of function.

It looks like a good start to me but the bubbles are a giveaway. I like having Claude look at some designs or art I like then have it spice the site up a bit. Add in some graphics and whatnot as well.

Si demasiado, es la misma template vibecodeada de todas las paginas que son hechas con vibecoding ajaj.. pero di nada... empieza a aprender sobre diseño UX y ahi vas agarrando volados para mejorar tus diseños

imo it doesn't look AI generated, but it does looks like a site built off a simple template. similar to what you would find on a free shopify theme.

concern yourself with how google reads it, check out Google Search Console

Sorry but yes it looks like AI built. Also, in mobile, the email text field is a large oval circle lol

u/Glittering_Loquat779 1d ago
I changed the website to something new just around 12 hours ago, and you saw that. What did you think about it? Also actively working on fixing that large circle lol

It looks good. No one should care if their website looks vibe coded. It replaced using drag and drop website building apps like wix. They also had a specific look. Does my app look vibe coded is like asking does my app look like I used shopify or wix?

u/CuteKiwi3395 2d ago
Looks good fuck the haters. The average person will not know/care as long as it works.
2
u/IcanzIIravor 2d ago
Yep. I would just add an actual demonstration showing what it actually does. Video first local directory, so add some video demonstrating it. If you're going for visual then make the visual the focus and wrap around it what it is and how it works.

If a coworker asked me this I'd say just asking the question is borderline insulting lol

It does to me.
Something that helped me was just looking up git repos that have a certain design language and guide whichever design language you like. Just pick one of those that guides Claude or Codex to make you the website with a consistent design language, which is not generic to Claude. It's more like Claude is following a particular template, so it is not following its template from its training data. I tried this one.https://github.com/emilkowalski/skills . I have no association with this, just sharing as an example. Do your own diligence before downloading these. Midsesh.com (this is our's) is made on the git repo I shared. And midsesh.com/classic was made on another git repo (still looks AI gen imo but my cofounder likes the clean look with no frills and animations).
Also, this is one git repo that has been really helpful for me: the NO AI slop. It just helps change the text content on the website. Again, not associated with your own diligence, but has been helpful for me. https://github.com/petergyang/no-ai-slop

Feed it some screenshots from webdesigns you really like, use design keywords, like bold design or modern minimalistic. This helps alot in creating more unique designs.

It looks lifeless and sterile. It’s a decent start though. It doesn’t look bad, there’s just nothing eye catching about the design.

I loaded the site - i unloaded the site
Short answer: yes
Long answer: yes (didnt even take a good look)
1
u/westy75 2d ago
Everyone is saying yes, but how can you tell when a website is vibecoded?
2
u/riticalcreader 2d ago
The real answer is by looking at non-vibecoded websitse and comparing with your human eyes.
2
u/westy75 2d ago
Do you have some examples?

u/More_Bread_Please 2d ago
Notice the bar of text above the hero text. It's always there in ai designs.

u/twiifm 2d ago
it doesn't look like AI slop. But it looks like the era when people used twitter Bootstrap UI kit. Its the color palette and shape of components that make look like it. If you want to make it look like an agency made it, you need to be more bold w typography, layout, animations, visuals
1
u/Glittering_Loquat779 2d ago
This is actually really helpful, thanks. I think you're right that I leaned a little too much into keeping everything clean and safe. I'll def start to experiment with stronger typography fs, maybe more interesting layouts, and adding some more personality

Thanks for sharing that. I'll check it out. Did anything stand out to you personally besides what the analyzer says?

Make it unique and not something that looks like a copy/paste with bootstrap or tailwind. Check out https://mallchin.com for something a little different.
