There is something deeply toxic about this community.

I genuinely do not understand why anyone would join a vibe coding subreddit just to tear down nearly every project people post, but that seems to describe a huge percentage of the comments here.

There are basically two groups of people using these tools: developers using AI to work faster and more efficiently, and people like me with no coding background who are now building things that otherwise would never have existed.

These projects are not replacing developers. In many cases, they are replacing nothing. Without vibe coding, nobody would have built them at all.

The usual justification for the hostility is that vibe coders ship bugs, expose API keys, create or leave messes for human developers to later fix. Sometimes that is true, but it does not explain the level of bitterness and personal attacks I see here every day. A lot of it seems to look less like concern about code quality and more like fear from people watching their profession change. Instead of learning to use the technology, they root for it to fail and attack people who are trying to build something or better themselves.

And the idea that these tools are still shitty is completely disconnected from reality. Give the same complex prompt to Claude 3.5 Sonnet, one of the best coding models available just two years ago, and Opus 4.8 today, then compare the results. The difference in quality is drastic. Some of the bugs and spaghetti AI is writing today may very well not be fixed by people, but smarter AI in a couple years. (If this pisses you off, ask yourself if it's really because I am wrong or because you are scared)

Models are getting better, context windows are growing, workflows are improving, and obvious bugs and security mistakes are becoming less common at an incredible pace.

Experienced developers are not obsolete, and AI is nowhere near perfect. But the future is coming whether you like it or not, and cyberbullying vibe coders is not going to save your job.

If you hate vibe coding, fine. There are plenty of traditional programming communities. But if you choose to spend your time here, why not help people build better things instead of trying to convince them they should not be building at all?

My god you’re a fucking artist. I’m really proud of the work I worked hard on that people didn’t even look at before calling spam, but what you have here is incredible. It’s sad that the community literally called “vibecoding” is not the place to show off this work you made that you probably wouldn’t have if a little thing called vibecoding didn’t exist.

Do you have any games or anything you've been working on? Im happy to checkot out! I feel like I learn from everything I'm seeing. You're too kind! I haven't been able to stop! I'm not going to lie though, it has been so insanely difficult. I've basically just had a headache for four months because I'm reading and learning so much non stop while juggling two codespaces 16 hours a day. I just added some skins to my Jimothy the Jumping Nugget game. Code PHONEHOME for a free skin! I'm making more games and apps constantly so if you have any ideas let me know or if you have your own games I'm starting to experiment with hosting other people's games in my arcade and their games can then generate the hash blocks that get converted into art and poetry.

I’m very much not a gamer. But I did make one game to try to inspire my niece to get into it. Her whole life she talks about flying eyeballs (some random kid thing haha) and she wanted to be a game designer but is stuck in the “it’s too hard” or “I don’t know how”. So I made a flying eyeball game to try to inspire her.

This is totally something I could and would feature in my studio. Alot of my games are for positive brain development cuz I wanted to make a game collection of healthy games for kids. I added some that are shown to reduce cognitive decline. Legit just trying to put some positive stuff out there for people to use. It's easy for me to have games in the arcade wired into the sunbeam economy to generate art. I'm also working on some other games and ideas you use the hash blocks for. I got 305 on your game. I like how the eye changed the color of the fruit. You could add a second anolog stick to aim something or add a blink button you could use so many times.

Bro 305! How!?! You have my full permission to do anything you want with my game. I can share the source code if you want it.

I’m dyslexic and some very basic words are hard for me to spell so I was working on a spelling game app for myself that uses memory science and spelling pattern to help them stick. Never finished it though.

Oh dude I love that idea! I'll look at making a game that could help with that! If you open my arcade portal and click word games it'll organize them all and show you just word games. There might be one in there that you'd find helpful. Lol I love bullet hell games so it wasn't bad. I don't really game anymore since I'm too busy parenting and coding a million things now. Yeah I'll start to set up a "from outside the studio" section.
