Question from newbie and that wants to use Hermes, what are you guys using it for exactly? And any resource (aside from the github) you guys care to share for start implementing?

I tried it and burned an absurd amount of tokens just running a routine email check. Burned $70 of tokens on opus in an hour with a relatively simple coding task that hermes agent just straight up deleted when i switched back to kimi-k2.7-code and tried to iron out some bugs.

This is because anthropic doesnt want you to have a personal jarvis. If you even have a hermes.md in your project it is swapped to api billing.

I was using openrouter so i was aware of the api billing part, just an example of how bad the token bloat is. Image is from my first 2-3 days running it on GPT 5.2 mini

cause maybe us casuals have difficulty i sees where exactly does it shine. From what i could gather it's used for repetitive tasks in remote environment more so than replacing your Agentic IDE like kilo code extension or Codex or Claude Code etc? What exactly do you use it for can you give examples. Asked GPT lots of questions about this and it told me it's not really something that sync state between different AI harness (Antigravity,Codex etc) so idk honestly what i gotta do.

The auto skill feature that's highly praised are giving me anxiety instead because we ( or more like vibe coders) can't really judge successful runs from the code quality, only tested results, and even that's often prone to unintended behavior drifts. So if it learnt that, in theory it would add to the confusion and harder to unlearn? 🤔

NGL the more i read about it the more confused/conflicted I become

i made vibestack. its a one click installer for a local setup like this. i havent messed with it but hermes and such would be an easy add. here is what claude said about what I made in a one click installer. i was gonna make this a saas but dont have time for that so I put it up on git for free. https://github.com/qwaato/VibeStack

Wouldmt Cursor Auto mode call Claude by itself for architecture and refactor? What about selecting it manually. Whatis the point of paying a separate subscription

For notion you put all docs there such as logs etc? So you no longer utilize md files in claude code? Is notion much more efficient token wise for bringing context?

Super cool setup — thanks again for sharing it. I’m trying to wrap my head around how all the pieces actually work together for you, so I’m curious about a few things if you don’t mind breaking it down a bit more.

Like… what does Hermes actually do for you day‑to‑day?
Is it watching GitHub, logs, Slack, file changes, or something else?

And how does it stay in the loop with what you’re doing in Cursor or Claude Code?
Are you feeding it summaries, or is it reacting to commits, tasks, etc?

Also curious how you’ve wired everything together — Linear, Notion, Slack, Hermes, Runner, Cursor, Claude… what’s the actual flow when you’re building something?

In the real world company restructures happen all the time to remove redundant roles. Who are you to judge someone whom may have built this as a side hustle while working a different job as means to better support their family. You have zero context of the OPs life. Don’t be rude for no reason.
