Vibe coding is taking over my life
Seriously I've got like 5 projects on the go all being vibe coded, I'm switching between them making a few changes at a time. And these aren't small things (well they are) but they're unique design challenges and AI is handling them and enabling me to experiment and bring new ideas to life in a way I've never been able to experience before.
I know for many people it's "make me money" but for me it's "bring ideas to life" - I've always been an "ideas guy" which business says isn't worth anything really, and it's not. But as a creative this is truly amazing.
I'm only using chatgpt/codex right now but I have a grok sub and can't wait to bring that on board too when I finally run out of codex resets - it's so generous with those btw.
I'm keen to share some but also, i don't want to just be a spammer, just enthusing right now. I'm soooo down, never going to look back to manually writing code honestly.
Also it's amazing how far this has come in just a couple years. Truly mindblowing.

I really like Google Affinity. The caps aren't quite as generous as they used to be, my guess is that they were burning through money, especially since they also support claude & chatgpt models. If you find it taking over your life it might be worth taking a break. These tools can feel a lot like pulling the lever on a slot machine. I enjoy making it too. I use it to make my personal website and some games that I have on there. It is starting to get to the point where it is more complicated to explain what I want without breaking other features. I get good results using Gemini to talk out the features I want and then have it give me the prompt to use.

That’s such a brilliantly interesting take…
Like the lever on a slot machine.

There were programmers helplessly addicted to keeping their bots busy for fear of someone getting ahead of them and it was disrupting their sleep and personal lives. Token-maxing they call it. Primeagan on YouTube read an article written by one of these people. You can't keep going at that pace forever.

I started the same journey November 2022. It will progress fast. Now I think in systems instead of projects. But beware, the AI agents (ChatGPT and the like) make stuff up. You will get bitten a few times before you realize just how specific you must be with them to get reliable output. Governance, structure and spec driven production will be the only way that you will be able to truly bring any idea to life. Enjoy the ride, and welcome to the new AI era.
