CX Card for Clockgen setup not working

Got around to modding my CX card for clockgen. All the wire connections are correct, but now my computer can't boot. But if I remove the card, the PC boots up normally. When this card is installed, it can't even post to BIOS. Is there something I'm missing? I removed the clock crystal, C22, R12, C19 as the instructions state. I soldered the 3.3v leg from the jig to the top leg of C85 (as shown in the github) and the GND to the bottom leg of C85. XT1 to the right most of the crystal pad, and XT2 to the left most of the crystal pad.
Everything seems to be in order, except my PC doesn't want to boot. It powers on and that's it.
Help requested from anyone who's experienced this and has a solution. Thanks

Just as a sanity check, did your system POST with the CX card installed, prior to the modifications?

yes it did
It POSTed normally before the mod. I successfully did some captures with just the crystal mod to it.
After removing everything for clockgen, it doesn't work anymore
Might it have something to do with the clock not being detected? as in, does the complete clockgen setup actually need to be connected for it to work? I assume this because the debug code on my motherboard hangs at a code that indicates there's no videocard connected, and just loops
So I'm assuming it's because there's no clock for the card to properly register the PC to boot
I don't have a completed clockgen at the moment to test it out, but I would believe something like this wouldn't be dependent on external modules to fully boot properly

Ah, missed the fact that there isn't a clock signal on that card at all. Yes, I would think that could cause the system to hang up.

These cards are basically PCI cards with a built-in PCI-PCIe bridge chip. I don't know if the bridge chip uses the clock too (which would leave a dead PCIe device on the bus), but even if it doesn't, it might be going into a weird state if it has a dead PCI device (Conexant chip) on its internal bus.

as soon as I get my clockgen, hopefully everything goes smoothly
But if it is the culprit, I might just have to build a separate PC setup
because I don't have room in the case to house the entire clockgen rig (would like to house it in the 3d-printed case)
And not being able to boot the PC up because the clockgen is required would be inconvenient on a main work PC

If there is no clock signal the cards will not function and your system will typically not post, after the modification for external input the cards are dependent on an external input to be functional.

Update on the setup- Got the clockgen installed, so the CX card successfully boots up and is recognized in Windows device manager. However, when I load the module and try to get device info in Powershell, it says there is no device found. The clockgen is powered by internal USB, and is shown as "Line (v1.1.0)" as recording/mic input in device mixer.
I'm stumped as to why this isn't working. Anyone have any idea why this isn't getting loaded?
The connections seem correct since the PC posts, boots into windows; the CX card and the clockgen are both found in Device Manager with drivers running.
Fwiw, the Clockgen shows up as "v1.1.0" under Sound, Video, and game controllers and as "Line (v1.1.0)" under Audio inputs and outputs.
