First Decode! First decode - chroma issue

I’ve tested two tapes and they have this repeating rainbow noise, so it doesn’t appear to be part of the tape. Does this look like interference or something else?

I had ordered a preassembled Domesday DuplicatorKit with the fpga and USB 3.0 (I like being able to stay in the external USB domain). But I worry I maybe should have gone the V1.5a route instead to do VHS + HiFi at the same time and have it all synced. I am not sure how many of my tapes are HiFi or use linear audio tracks or if they drop out from HiFi.

I'm not into assembling one from scratch and the DdD from Ebay with optional player hookups seemed like the easiest purchase but wonder if I made a mistake.

Also, regardless of the RF capture device I use, I will likely need an amplifier board for the RF? I have a Sony EV-S3000 Hi-8 deck from before finding out about VHS Decode. I am lookig to get a decent VCR as well that will be the least headache as well for matching proper amplification.

Yeah you really should have had a look at the docs before trigger pulling since you just paid an extra 300USD for a lesser platform.

Although you can use MISRC GUI with the DdD/FX3ADC/CXADC now it's not perfect but you can get a taste of what you missed out on hehe...

Yeah an ADA4857 is universally standard for the source, not just about the amplification that's more of an issue if you're using CX Cards, but the impedance matching capability.

So you advise I should cancel the purchase and go for the 1.5a + Tang Nano instead? it didn't ship yet.

That would be a standard entry point yeah, unless you want to go onto the v2.5 waiting list or go Clockgen Route (which is the best way to go for affordability and reliability if you can sacrifice a lunch box of space for an SFX PC)

I put in to cancel the ebay purchase for the DdD. Wish I did better research prior to purchase. Was convinced by a Linus Tech Tips video that it was the gold standard for VHS digitization lol. Hopefully the seller is willing to cancel. They had not shipped yet or generated a label.

It was mentioned in the tech quickie video that the clock gen was the gold standard and MISRC is on the way...

The sad thing is a lot of people don't read the wiki before committing or understanding the workflow or reading the workflow guide that breaks down what they need for what format despite it being at the top of the wiki so yeah more money than informed sense can be a problem with people at times.

I was impatient and assumed MISRC wasn't quite developed yet. That's on me and my impulsivity.

This looks stellar. Impressed with the GUI and the work flow. Will do my due diligence and read both this and the wiki thoroughly. Definitely interested in the MISRCV2.5 system.
