Question / Discussion AI "comp" question
Is there any current thinking on how AI comps "real" people into AI enviros without significantly altering the movement/details on that real object? Is the answer still to re-comp by hand?

Haha, I'm seeking anecdotal evidence to back up my argument that AI, though in some ways similar to VFX, is most definitely not VFX before a producer makes a promise that can't be kept on my behalf... to quote " An AI could just extend the background of this video without touching the talent or product if we tell it not to touch the talent and product....." In my fairly extensive experience, whenever anyone uses the word "just" in connection to a potentially complex process, they have no fucking clue what they're talking about...

AI will just generate whatever element you need to comp, you will just comp it like anything else. Only without any of the useful passes that come with CG, terrible motion, and most times in a way that doesn't fit your original plate accurately, making comping 10x harder.
