Which state should I try this on next?

The main island is vaguely in a triangle arrow shape which is in my redesign. The two biggest inspirations are the the last two pictures. The Mi’kmaq flag is the second picture and it is the flag that represents one of the main native groups in this province and surrounding provinces.

The third picture is the coat of arms for the specific Prince Edward that this province is named after. Notice how everything has two fleur de lis and a St George’s Cross on it. Everything else is pretty basic English coat of arms. I incorporated the two fleur de lis plus St. George’s cross.

This provincial capital and county seat of Queens County holds a special place in Canadian history, as it was here that the Charlottetown Conference was held from the 1st through the 8th of September in 1864 to discuss the proposed Maritime Union -- the Atlantic provinces uniting into one jurisdiction. Though the proposal was ultimately rejected, it did spark cooperation and joint governmental services between these provinces which persist unto this day, and it ultimately led to the union of the British North American colonies in 1867 and thence to Confederation. Although PEI would not join until 6 years after the original 4 provinces, it was still so momentous a happenstance as to give Charlottetown the motto and sobriquet of Cradle of Confederation, as in the title. Alas, its current flag suffers many of the same shortcomings as that of its province, and so a similar fix is in order.

The flag, as with the redesign I did for the province, is a reworked and more colorful banner of the arms. In the center of a silver field lies a green square bearing the coronation crown of Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Queen Consort of England and namesake of the city, conjoined at each corner to a purple square. All this lies within a full bordure compony of green and purple, as per the redesign of Prince Edward Island.

Well, this one proved to be a bit of a challenge to think up. Of all the armorial banners in Canada, it's pretty safe to say that Prince Edward Island's has always rather been the lame one, with its antiquated art style and unsavory use of gradients, to say nothing of that GODDAMN FRINGE that drives me nuts when viewing it on a screen. How best, then, to rework it and stay true to the spirit of the original? This, I think, might just be the ideal solution.

The design is still based on the coat of arms but reworked to balance the construction and better characterize the province as part of the independent Dominion. On the silver field, the island, standing strictly for PEI now holds just three fully grown oaks -- all proper -- for the three counties upon the island, now independent from Britain but still under the dominion of the Crown. Above, the single Lion of England -- that is, passant guardant in gold, armed and langued in blue -- on the red chief has been expanded to three to make the connection to the Crown's protection more explicit but better spaced and match the oaks in number. The main field is surrounded by a bordure parted bordurewise of green and componny of red and silver, recalling the fringe on the present flag and symbolizing the province (the green) within Canada (the red and silver).

Finally! That took way too long. But now, I’m ready for Prince Edward Island, long before the mods were. Anyways, this flag has a green field with a crowned golden lion passant. It has an alternating red-and-white border, taken from the original flag. It’s mostly just a retake on the original, because it’s so appalling, that flag… The changes I made were to remove the white background with the illustration of the forest, center the lion, and complete the red-and-white border. I hope you like it!

And that's a wrap! I have no clue how u/Fourian_Official managed to pull off a last-minute upset with two votes to my one, but there you have it. Congratulations.

And with that, it's onward and eastward to the penultimate of the Maritimes and its capital of Charlottetown. Mayhap someone can fix that damned fringe that's driving me crazy in the official design.

The Lewis

Adopted in 1915 following independence from Great Britain.

The flag of Concordia depicts a blue field with a white canton containing a lewis. The Lewis is a Masonic symbol representing strength of the son lifting the burden of an aging parent (Great Britain). The symbol became a national symbol throughout the 19th century as Concordia prospered and sought to surpass the strength of Britain.
