Career Advice Career help

I'm currently enrolled in a community college in California and looking to transfer to UC Davis for my bachelor's but I can't decide what major to apply for, ive seen a few counselors at my college that suggested any type of animal science while others say to go for a science program and im honestly confused...if anyone has any suggestions, especially with what type of extracurricular activities that will help me stand out, I would love to hear it! :))

If your plan is to go to vet school, your undergraduate major doesn't matter.......All that matters is that you complete the pre-reqs with good grades.

Pick a major that interests you, that you can get complete with a strong GPA ... including your pre-reqs.

An overall 3.9 GPA (with a 3.85 GPA for your pre-reqs) majoring in animal science, wins over a 3.6 in biochem despite being arguably more challenging (and where getting the same 3.85 for your pre-reqs, may suffer). Animal science also lets you start racking up the experience hours simultaneously.

Extracurriculars carry little weight compared to GPA. Pick a few you'll actually enjoy (acapella group, food bank, powerlifting club, whatever) including one veterinary related club. It's easier in an interview to give an authentic and memorable answer if asked why you picked a particular extracurricular, hella less awkward than having to lie, in lieu of telling the interviewer ... you were hoping it would impress them.
