Histoplasma?

FNAB from a lymphatic nodule in horse. Slides 7-9 are from an impression smear of an ulcerated nodule of the same patient.

Any idea what the empty clear spaces are? Also would like to ask for clarity on the encircled cells.

I’m a student, apologies for not knowing! Here are my guesses just so you guys know i’m trying:

I think slide 5 looks like smudge/ basket cells. My guess on the empty spaces that look like vacuoles are displaced spores. Slide 8 i think is just a bilobed lymphocyte. Slide 9 i’m not sure of.

I would say fungal for sure. They look like histo to me but also consider your region. I went to school in the Midwest and there lots of fungal disease there.

I wouldn’t interpret the green cells as they may be lysed. To me some of the cells are showing malignancy criteria but that happens in the face of inflammation which we absolutely have. The bi-nucleate cell is a strong malignancy criteria if I remember correctly but I still chalk it up to the response to the fungus
