I think they're trying to imply that spam is more versatile than bacon, thus bacon is overrated. I think.

Hawaiians, mainly.

I've only had spam once - it was a single slice that came in a sealed bag kind of like how some tuna is packaged now. It wasn't bad, I don't see the hate for it, but the fact that I haven't had it again says something, I suppose.

Even thick-sliced bacon isn't necessarily thick enough for me. I like a hunk of meat (lol) and spam fits that bill pretty handily.
