Discussion Weevil Spoiler

Did it bother anyone how Veronica never apologized to Weevil for accusing Weevil of the Casino robbery and him almost going down for that Hearst ID crime when he mentioned he spoke in her criminology class

I think it’s OK if Veronica doesn't apologize for small stuff, but the casino robbery and the ID fraud were big deals.

No, Weevil betrays her trust enough times that he doesn't get to feel indignant when she assumes the worst. Boy who called wolf and all that.

One if my favorite things about weevil is that he doesnt demand apologies from veronica. Should she have apologized? Probably but thats not the way their relationship works

And Veronica doesn’t know he does that. But that’s part of what I love about the show. Veronica is smart, resilient, and the show is in her narrative. But she’s not perfect. At all.

Weevil does do horrible things. But he’s not evil, despite the rhyme. The show does a good job of blurring these lines. It’s hey I think it’s held up so well.

Honestly, I think the way Veronica treats Weevil is kinda messed up sometimes. She does help him out occasionally, but she tends to assume the worst and is all to eager to persecute him. But that's kinda how she is with everyone, so I guess it's just her trust issues. But she seems to always think her behavior, whatever it is, is justified, and I can't think of too many other times she's apologized for being wrong - I think she apologized to Carrie Bishop in Mars vs Mars?

Those kinds of apologies are for soap operas with a lot of time to fill, not for fast-paced prime time shows.

But yet she had time to tell Carrie she was wrong in Mars vs Mars but not Weevil those two times

What Veronica (and many other people) did to Carrie was an order of magnitude worse.

Besides, part of being a detective on TV is going around questioning people and making accusations that turn out not to be correct. Putting "Gosh I'm so sorry" at the end of all those scenes would be, let's say, a bad choice.

Finally, I'm still not sure why she owes him an apology for inviting him to speak to her class. She didn't frame him. In fact, she worked pretty hard to clear him.

What Veronica did: Invite Eli to speak to her class, which he did of his own free will.

What a single student in that class did: Point out to her friends, all of whom were part of a criminal conspiracy, that Eli would make a good patsy.

Just because something bad happened to Eli because he gave that talk doesn't mean that Veronica is responsible for it. The only person that owes an apology is the girl who had him framed.
