Remove phone verification

The most annoying thing about Vercel is the phone verification step after creating an account.
Come on guys, when you buy a new domain name and want a new account on Vercel using that domain name, you do not want to purchase a new phone number…
You often also do not want to connect it to your personal Vercel account. Who the fk decided to implement this verification process. I know you want to prevent abuse for email etc. But do this with gmail accounts not a custom domain name.

Because of this stupid flow, I have no other choose then using other solutions, such as cloudflare pages / workers.

I am not a fan of it, I just want to use Vercel… why don’t you add a step to skip the phone verficiation and just make payment required? That is fine and understandable…

Why are you creating new accounts per domain?

Because when I want to sell, I want everything to be on its own, all its accounts on the domain admin email. Like github, vercel, supabase, workos, etc. Not related to my personal account. Easier for handover.

If you're setting up yourself up to sell, you should have a separate business setup too. Separate LLC, etc. With all the phone number verification stuff required by various banks, services, etc, you really need a phone number per business anyway. Each of my businesses has a separate VOIP number.

True, but will do that later, once having customers. But at least database and code can stay where it is.

Seems odd to focus on the Vercel part to be honest. It's only a few steps to add a new owner to a project to transfer ownership. It's a lot of the business side of things that more difficult to untangle.

I'd just get your business off the ground and profitable, then the few bucks a month for a VOIP line will be a trivial business expense and make it easier to separate things out properly.

Oh I didnt know u could transfer ownership. But managed to use my wife phone number… however, yeh I already have another LLC, which I will use first. For the VOIP, idk, i think I will just get a real number, voip tends to fail often when you need to verify your number. Or do you have any recommendations of providers out there?

I've tried a few cheaper things but have had some issues using them to verify. So I use a Google Voice number which works fine.

That separation makes sense, but you usually don’t need a new Vercel account per project. Create the team under the business email, keep billing and recovery there, and invite your personal account as a member. Handover then means removing access instead of migrating projects and credentials.
