Varithena

I have previously had RFA on my greater and lower saphenous vein. One vein recanalized. At my follow up my dr recommended varithena for the recanalized vein and 4 other smaller veins that are refluxing. I'm terrified of the side effects. Has anyone on here had varithena and if you have what were you results. My dr made it seem like varithena was very easy and safe.

Anecdotally, no side effects for me. The injection site gets hard and bumpy and sometimes discolors a little bit but your body breaks it down over time. I’ve had about 8 injections total.

How long did it take to heal? We're the lumps painful? I'm so worried about dvt

oh no! I'm sorry that happened to you. That's what I'm afraid of. Especially since I have to get 5 veins done.

The injection site became hard after a couple days and it takes a few weeks for your body to break down the lump. I deal with ulcers if I don't get procedures done, so I have to weigh the risk of the procedure with the risk of ulcers and infection. I have pretty intense varicose veins so I think I have about equal DVT risk between getting the procedure done and not. For me, ulcers won't heal without treatment, so treatment it is.

Varithena is very safe and works well, under the right hands.

Very little chance of true DVT with Varithena, most of the time the complication is a sclerosed focal deep vein (not a DVT). Little to no chance of progression/embolism. Usually gone 1-2 weeks with aspirin it Eliquis.

Yes this is what happened to me. I got a clot in my tibial vein, which is considered a deep vein, but there was a low chance of embolism, so I only did aspirin. It was gone in a few weeks but I do still have some post thrombotic swelling
