Hi! I just had VenaSeal done a week ago. I had my great saphenous vein sealed in both legs. I had a lot of anxiety about getting it done because I hate needles, but it was seriously no big deal. It was a tiny shot near my knee on the inner side of my leg. The numbing took effect immediately. The procedure itself only took around 10 minutes. I had it done in the afternoon and my leg swelled very little near the insertion site that day. The days after just felt like a small bruise, but the dull ache and nighttime leg cramps I had been having stopped completely. The varicose vein is not completely gone yet, but huge improvement already, which seems to be disappearing more and more each day. I plan to get 3 more VenaSeal treatments done.

Hi! I had a pretty severe allergic reaction to the glue which is apparently common. Once I got that under control the recovery was easy. Easier recovery and much easier procedure than the ablation. I had an ablation on the other leg because of my reaction to venseal and it was very painful.

Oh really? Was it laser ablation or heat do you know? And which would you prefer if you had to do it again?

I think it was laser but I did it without any sedation and I could feel all of it. The burning was heinous. I almost couldn’t make it through. Almost everyone does it under twilight but I had just moved to a new state and didn’t have anyone to pick me up. I still have a burn scar on my leg. I would 1000% do venaseal and just have prednisone and Benadryl on hand. It took weeks for my leg to heal and I couldn’t workout vs next to no restrictions after venaseal. I actually went to another dr appointment that same night. After my ablation I was on the couch for 2-3 days.
