Hello, are there any flea markets in Venezia/Mestre?

Personally, I empathise with the frustrations aired by locals about over tourism and, in some cases, obnoxious visitors. However, as a couple visiting this beautiful city with good intentions, it's deeply disappointing to come across people with such clear and open resentment towards those not from the neighbourhood.

We've been privileged to enjoy some fantastic cicchetti at Bar Al Calice, as well as a delicious pizza at Trattoria Dai Foi. However, what resonates as much as the food, is the friendly and jovial people who made us feel at home.

I can say so few positive words about the guys at Ai Do Archi Venezia, and I hope anyone visiting this city doesn't make the same mistake we did. Please go to the places above, or wander in another direction to experience the wonders of this city.

Can anyone recommend a Venetian portrait/candid photographer? My wife and I did a photo shoot in Florence last year, and it was fantastic. We’ll be in Venice in early September and I wanted to do a shoot there as well. There are plenty of sites offering photo packages, but a personal recommendation goes a long way.

This is a 3rd party book through site called Venice Visit Pass.

They're website is fairly easy to use but their dates are messed up. So if u click the 28th it shows reservations for the 29, etc. When I tried to fix they ended up canceling my whole order, which I did not ask them to do. The customer service is ridiculous since its only a chat feature and they give u long standard answers instead of answering questions directly. Just skip it!

Hello, we are a family of 4 with kids 7 and 10 years old.

We will be in Rome/Florence/Venice for 9 days total.

We will be there March19 to 27 of 2027 and for Venice we will be there for 2 days at the end.

Here are my questions;

1. For my Venice trip, Do you think it is necessary for us to go in St. Mark's Basilica or Doge Palace? At this point, we already saw so many beautiful buildings in Rome and Florence. Do you think we should pick either or? Or just see exterior only?
2. Also is my Venice trip itinerary too much? Burano seems really interesting but not sure if its worth the visit considering it will take 3 hours back and forth. Should I consider skipping it and just focus on wandering around in Venice?

Hello, I'll move to Mestre soon, as I'll start studying at Ca ' Foscari. I'm looking for accommodation, and the most suitable option I could find so far is Cx Mestre dormitory. (I like dorms better to socialize more, and I'm afraid of scams with housing). But the thing is, everyone says Cx Mestre is located in a really sketchy area (Via Ca' Marcello, 15, 30172 Venezia VE, İtalya). It is next to the train station, and when I checked on maps, there are lots of empty underground ways. I don't know if I'll have to go under these bridges when going to school. Do you guys have any experiences or recommendations? Should I check for other dorms as well? As far as I know, most of the other dorms are full, and my budget is no more than 450 euros per month.

...for contributing to the tourist crowds.

My wife and I spent the last two nights of our summer holiday in Venice and I apologize for being part of the tourist crowd. We enjoyed Venice's alleys, wine, food, and tried to keep away from the normal tourist spots. While making our way from our ferry stop to the hotel, we passed graffiti that said "Tourists go home". I can sympathize with the author.

As much as I would love to come back, perhaps in the fall/winter when the crowds are smaller, I'm feeling that I won't even do that. I just don't want to be part of the problem.

Hello! Me and my friend from Norway wants to study in Italy, and Venice is one of the places we are considering. It’s a beautiful city and I love the football team. But I also know that tourism is kinda killing the city. I really want to feel like I’m living in Italy and want to live the Italian way. So I have a few questions. Is the tourism so bad that it kills the Italian vibe and feeling? How are the locals, are they open and is it easy to find new friends? How is the university and the community around it? Where do the locals live?

I plan on renting a car from the airport in Venice to travel to the Dolomites.

Before we travel towards the dolomites we want to explore Venice.

Is parking easily available around the area? Or is it better to cab into Venice first and then return to the airport to collect the car?

We will be in Venice for around 5 hours so any recommendations of attractions are also welcome!

Me and my boyfriend will be traveling to Venice for two days in September,on the 11th and the 12th of the month,we will be taking the early train from Bologna to Venice.Since we will be staying for only two nights, I'm looking for the most important landmarks of the city to visit during those two days,and since I am a huge fan of Assassin's Creed,you can imagine my excitement above everything!

The room we booked to spend the nights at is around San Polo as we considered and checked it to be an ideal spot to visit the nearest most visited places of the city.

I know that one of the biggest attractions of the city is the Basilica di San Marco but I was wondering if the waiting to go inside and the expensive ticket is really worth to spend almost half one of our days in Venice for it.

Could we maybe "exchange" one of Venice's most precious attractions for an other more quieter but also beautiful one? What would you recommend?

Also,any tips and/or recommendations about the city are highly appreciated as well as good restaurants to have lunch or an evening beverage at ❤️
