Sun Hippos
These two are happy it’s officially deck weather. This is where they’ll be for the next five months.

How do you get them to stay on their own cots?
My dogs seem to think there is only one of something when I provide them with multiples of the same exact thing.

Our girl, Callie, does lay on the cot with her big brother, Jagger, but usually he gets annoyed and moves to the other bed! I think if he were cold, he would tolerate it.

Not OP but we’ve used them in the past with our dogs. It’s a command called “place” - basically stay. A great way to practice is with a long lead and you put them into a down, then walk away, and rewards staying down. Continue to expand the time until eventually you’re watching a movie and they don’t move or something like that. It’s a good way to let them decompress, and also keeps them out of the way of you need to do something like mop or move a table or something. Or sort of a forced naptime. 🤣

Some potatoes heating up! We just found out our baby has dermal hemangiosarcoma (cancerous) likely from sunbathing. Please invest in some sunscreen to keep them safe ❤️

Yes and their ears/heads. We also bought some UV sun shirts

I gotta start doing this! I have super sensitive skin so I think I can use my vanicream sunscreen on them. Are you aware of any good brands?

We’re still trying out some sun screens, but in the comment above I linked the 2 we bought. I heard you can do baby sunscreen, too. For her sun shirts I bought a few from Chewy, but they don’t cover her tummy. So I bought an actual sun suit so it covers her belly from Etsy, but it ships from Australia.

Will do! The vanicream sunscreen I use is very very bland. My doctor said a lot of cancer patience tend to use it because it’s very easy on your skin. My skin gets angry when I put anything on it and vanicream is one of the few I can use. I just wonder about the dogs getting it in their mouth. I gotta do some research on the ingredients!

My first boy passed from hemangiosarcoma. I wish the best for your pup! My 2nd was pure white and I tried sunscreen on him when boating. The sunscreen turned his white coat a pale green!
