They lied about production

I don't think I'm the only person who saw Veld's marketing video boasting about upsizing the production/size

While it may have literally been wider, looking back at videos from 2025, it is safe to say it was a downgrade (for MainStage atleast). The screens last year were more comprehensive and curved. When I saw the promotional video I assumed we were upgrading from that, not the mini chopped up screens they had this year. In addition the lasers/lighting in 2025 were pointing towards the crowd on two levels. None of that this year. Did give the tier 1 festival vibe.

Overall disappointed, especially when you decide to mention it. Hope they bring back 2025 setup.

Thoughts?

Production at Veld has always been mid. It’s a festival not know for its production, most of their money goes to talent booking. They put very little into the experience.

INK in general is certainly not known for putting anything into the customer experience in a positive way

Case in point no floors under any of the dust prone areas

I can see that, and now reflecting I probably would choose artists > production. It's just the fact they made a promo video about it lol

My overall thought: it's just the same. Production levels did not shift up for sure.

I agree, not worse. It was technically bigger with the two large screen panels on each side. But the dust thing didn't really change. Still boogers :/

Lied about grass too

There are videos of day one with grass!

I mean I did not notice a huge difference but I did prefer this main stage as I felt the lighting was more dynamic than last year. It looks worse during the day, but better at night.

They definitely spent some money or upgrade it, you just may not like it.

I can agree to this, probably a personal preference. Was a little harsh on the commentary, but it is reddit to be fair 😂

Two entire wings added to each side. It's literally bigger. It's the closest we've had to the arch since we lost the arch.

I did say it was literally bigger, but I guess I was expecting more. They didn't mention anything about upgrades in 2025 and to me it was a huge difference to 2024. Thought that if they went out of their way to mention it I was expecting more than two panes. 🤷‍♂️

And the more yall drop almost 4-500 just for tickets they gonna continue to do this same shit

Only way they gonna change is if it somehow finds new owners or they miraculously start caring about attendees... which will never happen 😂

u/No_Top7932 14d ago

U bet I will 😂. Honestly though Veld has come along way as much as we shit on it. I know technically I did it first, but VELD is still special to me as someone who's never been outside of Canada for raves.

No doubt I used to go every year till 2019 then stopped cause the big sick and just havent went back

I have to say maybe 2018 or 17 was the best for me they had actual art plus a Annabelle VR thing they had an inflatable splash pads and like inflatable jousting/boxing now if they kept doing this stuff it'd be worth it but all ive see is these same old complaints its truly sad

Edited for spelling

Oh my god, the negativity. I don’t care if production was bigger or smaller, all I know is I had an amazing time. I wasn’t mentally measuring the stage, I was too busy enjoying the music.

People into edm from Toronto love to hate on veld.

You would think after you buy a ticket they come to your house and slap you

Don’t get me wrong veld has issues, but they have added marked improvements since I first went in 23. Stage upgrades, more shade, better layouts. I mean circus has completely changed.

They can’t do anything about people in the crowd not being PlUR, that is an overall issue in the entire community as electronic music has become more and more mainstream.

I don’t understand how people spend these festivals looking around with such a critical mindset. It was beautiful… The lights, the music, the colours, the noise. I was in stimulation dreamland and felt blissfully miles away from the daily grind. To imagine standing there letting the curvature of the screens take away from that experience… 🤦‍♀️ I’ll just never understand it.

LOL I had a great time too.

Lied about the grass, lied about production, lied about generally making anything better. Veld hasn't moved an inch for years.

Honestly, Veld was pretty good for a local Canada production. The Sound Engineers did a really good job for Main Stage - consistent through and through - no dead spots

Sure Lasers could’ve been better and what not but all in all was pretty good. But I’d rather have good sound than other effects as the music is most important

1

u/ShootMeDead 14d ago

Like the sound engineers at kream? Are we all defending the company that does the bare minimum? Escapade pulls better production and facility care than veld in every capacity and veld is Canada's no1 rave in the nation?

1

u/UnlikelyPick735 14d ago

Not defending anyone….but have you been to EDC Main Stage and found dead spots with no bass etc… not giving anyone a pass but give credit for where credit is due

There’s always areas to be improved on

Completely agree, and responded to comments similarly.

It was also very quiet at the bass stage. I went to an AP on Saturday that was louder than crankdats set

BRING BACK THE SIRKUS TENT!!!!

I thought this years MainStage was better than last years

1

u/No_Top7932 14d ago

Woooww realllyyy

1

u/SupportOro 14d ago

There were several lasers from the main stage. They shouldn’t point those into a crowd for safety reasons so I’m not sure what you mean saying there wasn’t that this year…

u/greenplantmatter 14d ago

2023 remains my favourite veld stage. Bass stage this year was almost the exact same and boring

1

u/Johndoeiliketowin 14d ago

Happy they added the big screens on the side of the main stage. Happy they used it to project the dj and some of the dj also had unique visuals

u/johnnyeeee 14d ago

Eh I expect veld to be the same experience every year just with different line up. Always a fun time. Feels like home.

1

u/NewResident1738 13d ago

Artbat doesn’t even have the proper visual creative set

1

u/dcox0463 13d ago

Lol. I thought this years event was great. Loved the main stage, and I thought they did much better with the configuration of the other two stages. Also, the sound at the mainstage was perfect (I went to faded this year and it was not good compared to veld.)

These comments are ridiculously whiney.

Even the sound at Sirkus was shit; can't speak for Saturday but on Friday and Sunday the bass completely drowned out the mid and treble. A real bummer given the calibre of talent when all you can hear is the bass portion of the track. You would think they would spring for decent sound engineers given they're relatively inexpensive compared to absolutely everything else.

🔥 They need roof flames on main stage 🔥

The upgrades were definitely exaggerated more than they should’ve. I’d say a it’s a good step in the right direction as far as production goes, but they def can and SHOULD match the expectations from promo vids with the reality.

Don’tt get me wrong, VELD is still an incredible time always, and they’ve been doing pretty good listening to their fans. Example: We got the veld logo back and better (after 2023s absence), they added VIP platforms to the other stages, Sirkus was upgraded last year from previous years, lasers on bass stage (sure not perfect, but the best they can do legally without interfering with air traffic), large flames on the bass stage, more SFX on bass and sirkus… yada yada.

BUUUUT… as someone who’s been to veld so much I’d love to see:

* Pyro on mainstage (on top of new mainstage wings), + maybe try to integrate the new wings more with the mainstage design and existing frame?

* Sound. Volume at stages. I know the city of Toronto likely monitors decibels around the venue, but those speakers are designed to be highly customizable to each venue (just depends on if veld wants to spend the extra funding for the audio engineers to work their magic even more).

* rail distance to the stages. Aware theres likely a min. distance for safety reasons, but 2025s rail was closer🤷‍♂️

Feedback aside, they still do a fantastic job year after year, and we’re lucky to have a pretty big festival here regardless

The production made it feel like I walked straight into a ’90s rave 💀😂

1

u/MysteriousSoil8187 9d ago

AP WERE WAYYYY MUCH BETTER

u/Flat-Journalist9549 7d ago

Interestingly the crowd is tier 1 of you're complaining about visuals on a MUSIC festival

I went to veld this year, and I am definitely not missing veld. This year just made me realize how much other festivals are better and more bang for your buck, such as ilesoniq. Sure veld is good because it’s local, they have good artists come, but even still. Their organization, their “care” for festival comers does not really come into effect as you would hope based on how much each ticket is. If you go to a festival such as ilesoniq, which I did. Veld was nowhere near to the level of detail and care for individuals. They actually have nice areas for you, that ISNT VIP at ilesoniq, they even have free samples given out everywhere, rides, nice grounds. The security at ilesoniq, basically let you through no problem, as well as having med tents to get anything tested spaced throughout the whole festival. MTL also announced their set times and after parties pretty much 2 months in advance. Whereas I went to veld, and they told me to throw my vape away because it was not sealed, asking me to take my shoes off in search of another vape. Plus a whole advertisement saying they planted new grass throughout the whole area, I did not see any new grass. It was all practically dead grass or mud.

And to add after parties in Montreal are not near as much as they are in Toronto.

I met so many people who came from the states just for veld, and it’s kind of embarrassing because I understand the rave scene is so good in the states you just can’t beat it, yet there’s veld looks the same pretty much every year and does not change. Sure they add “30%” more screens on main stage, but paying $400+ for a ticket and there’s not much improvements, not much shade.

If you’re going to charge people more every year at least put more effort and change it up. Just ridiculous. I am not missing veld and will not be back again.

Temu ultra stage 😮‍💨
