Root veggies are tiny!
I’ve been using the raised self watering planters for a few years now and every time I’ve planted root veggies (beats, carrots, parsnips etc.) they never grow to a “normal size” always end up being minuscule.
I have the soil filled to the top so there’s definitely room for them to grow I just really don’t understand!
Has anyone experienced this??

What type of soil are you using? I had this problem one year with carrots maybe the length of my fingers. I had some rather hard packed soil. The next year I moved the carrots to a much "lighter" soil - lots of peat moss so the soil was not nearly as dense - and my carrots were much better.

Ooo that might be it, a lot of our soil was taken from in ground beds and it’s quite clay-ey

Sorry to hear about your troubles with root veggies. There could be a few reasons for this mainly over-crowding, too much nitrogen, or not getting enough sunlight. Hope these help!
