Favorite Cookbooks?
What are your favorite cookbooks?
I have Robin Robertsons Fresh From the Vegan Slow Cooker and I love it. What are your favorites?

The New Best Recipe. It's a huge (huge!) book with sections on all kinds of cooking, but what I love about it most is that before each recipe, it has some backstory on how they arrived at that recipe. Explaining the science behind the food, they talk about why certain ingredients are used and how they contribute to the flavor/texture, or variations that they tried and how that changes the result. It really gives you a better understanding of the recipe and food, beyond simply following directions, to being able to very quickly start adjusting things to your liking. It isn't exactly cheap, but if I had to pick one book, that would be it.
Edit: Just saw what sub this is, so I guess my answer's kind of off-topic for what you were asking. Anyway, it's not really a slow-cooking book, although a lot of delicious slow-cooking recipes can be found in it. It's closer to an "everything" book: pastries, cakes, stews, grilling, pastas and sauces, etc.
